Fratelli Tutti – Everyone is Connected: Brothers and Sisters, All

Sunday, January 3, 2021, 4 – 5:30pm

Online via Zoom

(Registration ends at 3pm on the day of, and the Zoom link will be sent right after that)

Fr. Tom Ryan of the Paulist Center will deliver remarks on Pope Francis’ encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, reflecting on how we can all live out the call to fraternity, social friendship, and solidarity. We could not think of a more fitting way to begin the new year. Father Tom Ryan is also a member of the UniteBoston Board of Directors. Responding to him will be Boston Islamic Seminary President Dr. Basyouny Nehela and others to be announced. Audience Q&A will follow the presentations.

Born and raised in southern Minnesota, Fr. Tom Ryan did his graduate studies in theology at the Washington (D.C.) Theological Union and the University of Geneva. He was ordained a Paulist in 1975, and served in campus ministry at the Ohio State University (Columbus) and at McGill University (Montreal, QC.), prior to directing the Montreal-based Canadian Centre for Ecumenism for 14 years and working in all ten provinces of Canada. Perceiving the need for places where Christians of different traditions could gather to share faith and life with each other as well as with members of other religions, he spearheaded the founding of Unitas in Montreal, an ecumenical center for spirituality and Christian meditation co-sponsored by eight different denominations. He served as its director for five years prior to answering the call of his community in January of 2000 to set up and develop the Paulist Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations.

Dr. Basyouny Nehela holds an M.A. in Fundamentals of Religion, and a Ph.D. with Honors in Da’wa and Islamic Culture, both from Al-Azhar University. He is currently the Dean of Academic Affairs and professor at Boston Islamic Seminary. Dr. Basyouny was previously an Associate professor at Qatar University’s Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Department of Islamic Creed and Da’wa, a faculty member at Al-Azhar University and Islamic American University, and Imam of the Islamic Society of Boston. He has also served as head, and coordinator of many academic committees covering Curriculum Enhancement, Core Curriculum, Strategic Plan, Academic Activities and Events, & Professional Development. He has taught many academic courses including Fundamentals of Dawa, Ethics, Comparative Religion, Islamic Creed, Islamic Culture, Quranic Studies,…etc.

2020 Vision Board Workshop

Envisioning God’s Plan – 2020 Vision Board Workshop

In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it can be challenging to take a step back and reflect on our goals and convictions. The perfect time to do that is in the new year! Did you make any new-year’s resolutions? Are you looking to be more intentional in your faith walk? More bold or courageous? Loving? Self-controlled?

Please join us! Together we will visualize what we want for our spiritual growth this year and renew our determinations. Let’s pump out those creative juices and find fellowship with a community of like-minded believers. This can be the year you finish strong and make good on the things you began.

“The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.” Ecclesiastes 7:8

and, “Commit tot he Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a fun is a board or poster that visually displays the things you desire or dream about. It’s fun to make and is a helpful tool because when you see it every day, you can be reminded of and motivated to accomplish the things you decided to do.

Please feel free to bring your own craft supplies, poster boards, magazines, stickers, etc. We will have supplies available as well.

The Prophet Project

The Prophet Project – a play in one act

Following the storyline of Hosea and Gomer, and using only the words of the ancient Hebrew prophets, The Prophet Project is a visceral, beautiful retelling of God’s relentless love for humanity. Challenging and encouraging, disturbing and inspiring, it is an unique opportunity to grow in one’s own faith, as well as to invite non-Christian lovers of art, and to help Jewish friends see echoes of Christ in Scripture.
The 2013 production was awarded with the Making a Difference in Christian Service Award and the Eldin Villafañe Award for High Distinction in Christian Service, both from Gordon Conwell’s Boston Campus. Still Small is now reviving the production with a new cast, additional music, and updated design.
All performances will be followed by an optional talkback in which the audience can ask questions and have an informal discussion with the cast and creative team.

August 9, 10, 16, & 17

7 pm shows each night, additional 3 pm matinee on Saturdays.

Invasion 2018

2000 years ago the Word, our Creator, put on flesh to INVADE our fallen world in the form of a baby. 33 years later as a full grown man, he gave His life on a Roman cross to bring salvation to anyone who would believe.

We exist to glorify our creator with every aspect of our being. Join us as we come together to celebrate our creator’s D-Day this Christmas.

From 7-10 PM we will have dance ministries, youth choirs, spoken word, a little Christian Hip Hop and a message on John 1:14.

Come for the show and stay for the After Glow! DJ Mott will be spinning the best of Christian Hip Hop and Reggae on the 1’s and 2’s until midnight.
