June us for the March for Jesus this Saturday August 23 from 2pm to 8pm. Meet at the flagpoles in front of Boston City Hall at 2pm. We will march up Tremont Street to the Boston Common Parkman Bandstand for all day revival from 3pm to 8pm, hearing from local pastors, worship teams, DJ’s and other speakers.
Every step we take in this March for Jesus is a declaration of God’s sovereign reign over New England. After the march we will gather on the Boston Common for an unforgettable time of praise, prayer, and proclamation, featuring Boston’s best DJ’s, worship bands, local and international speakers until 8pm. For the third time this summer, we will flood Allston with prayer, worship and evangelism. We are calling all young revivalists, worshipers and evangelists in the city of Boston who desire to see the lost saved and the Body equipped to come out!

Prayers for Liberty

Dear Massachusetts Residents of All Faiths:

We are writing to you with an invitation to pray with your feet and march with us from Lexington to Boston this Labor Day – Monday, September 1st, 9:00-5:00 – to sound the alarm for American democracy and to demand a more just and humane democracy that honors our shared sacred values.

On Friday, May 30th, hundreds of us marched this same route from Lexington to Boston, reversing Paul Revere’s ride for liberty 250 years ago to sound the alarm for democracy, as the actions of our current presidential administration regularly violate our shared sacred values and our constitutional rights. We stopped in Lexington, Arlington, Cambridge, and Boston to pray to God for the merciful and just rule of law from our federal administration, as well as the protection and preservation of our sacred values and democratic principles. We also brought a letter signed by over 300 Massachusetts clergy, addressed to members of our Congressional Delegation.

Who can participate in the march? For what parts?

People of all faiths are invited to participate in any segment. We will walk relatively quickly between stops, in order to make it to each of our prayer gatherings on time. (See our schedule above.) For our friends who are disabled, tired, busy, etc., we welcome participation at any one of the prayer stops in Lexington, Arlington, Cambridge, or especially at our conclusion in Boston in lieu of marching.

 

Can I use my clothing, signage, and speech to protest other offenses at this event? 

While we respect the conscience, speech, and liberty of all our clergy and other participants, at this event we are focused on the preservation of our shared sacred values and democratic, constitutional governance. In our prayers and signage, we ask that participants not mention any other issues, however important they are to one’s conscience or community.

 

What should I bring? What should I wear?

Clergy are encouraged to wear any clothing identifying their tradition and/or role. We will have bathroom stops in Arlington and Cambridge. We recommend all participants bring a refillable water bottle, some snacks in your pocket, sunscreen and hat, and comfortable walking shoes!

Refresh: A Retreat for Creatives

Hosted by the Leighton Ford Initiative in Theology, the Arts, and Gospel Witness, this three-day retreat will provide an opportunity to prayerfully approach pains and blockers in your relationship with God, self, and others, as well as in the creative process. Activities will include biblical reflections, examining artworks, listening prayer, worship, visio divina, and community connection alongside discussions and workshops on culture, art, and the church. Refresh will be facilitated by Melanie Spinks, a Gordon-Conwell alumna and visual artist, with special contributions from Leighton Ford, Dr. Gwenfair Adams, and Adam Kurihara.

Creatives and artists of all kinds are invited to attend this retreat, with the understanding that some content will have an emphasis on visual art.

Sanctuary is Sacred: Public Worship & Action for Immigration Justice

This Good Friday, April 18th at 4pm beginning at the Thomas O’Neill Federal Building downtown, Christians and people of faith will gather in prayer and protest, demanding protection for our immigrant neighbors and our communities.

Jesus’ birth was a story of migration and border-crossing. Jesus’ death was a confrontation with – and triumph over – the powers of empire and a radical, loving act of solidarity with the oppressed. In remembering Jesus’ story during Holy Week, we are called to be in solidarity with the crucified peoples of our present. This public worship and action calls on our state elected officials to protect our communities by passing the Dignity not Deportations Act and by getting ICE off of our streets and out of our churches. While this action will be rooted in the Christian tradition and practice of Stations of the Cross, people of all or no faith backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to attend.
