Tour will begin at the Union United Methodist Church

located at 485 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02118.

This 2-hour walking tour will include lunch at Slade’s Bar and Grill which has been bringing the greater Boston communities under one roof since 1935. Slade’s was listed in the Green Book between 1935-1939 and it is known for its soul food and hip urban vibe. Reproductions of the Green Book for selected years will be available for sale at the conclusion of the event.

Boston Mayoral Candidate Action

In collaboration with the Boston Ministerial Alliance (BMA) TenPoint Coalition, Inc., GBIO is hosting a Mayoral Candidates Action on Tuesday, September 2nd. We will be joined by Mayor Michelle Wu as well as challengers Josh Kraft, Robert Cappucci and Domingos DaRosa.

We will use this Action to uplift issues of particular interest to Black leaders and communities across GBIO. In GBIO style, this Action is a way for us to build relationship with these candidates, establishing a line of communication that we plan to follow up on throughout the term of whoever is elected.

You can expect to hear stories from leaders that reflect priorities discovered through research, one-on-one meetings and gatherings conducted over the last 6 months, and the candidates will each share their reactions and plans to address these issues.

We invite City of Boston residents to join us IN-PERSON at Bethel AME Church for the Action. Please arrive by 6:30pm to sign in and be seated for a prompt 7pm start. Use the buttons below to register.

Volunteer Opportunity: Help Immigrants Learn English in East Boston

If you want to serve our local immigrant community then consider this opportunity:

Central Community Church in East Boston has an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) class on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00am-10:30am. We are seeking a volunteer teacher and assistant teacher for this class. You can commit to volunteering one or both of those days.
