A team from Park Street Church has been trying to support a local healthcare program for the homeless in their support for the homeless population especially during this season of COVID-19. In meeting their needs, we also hope to find ways to gently share the gospel of Christ to both the staff and the homeless individuals and families. One such need is raising funds to continue serving the homeless. We have a facebook group going to help us both sell and buy items in which all funds raised will go towards supporting this organization. This is an ongoing event. If you are interested in joining us and participating in any way, please contact me at ahava137@gmail.com. Thanks!
Clothing the Needy With Warmth & Dignity
Jesus aCross the Border will be collecting cold weather gear and grocery store donations to put together care packages for those in need that we encounter on October 19th. We will start our event at St. Anthony’s Shrine on Arch St. with prayer and an orientation at 11am. We will then head to the Boston Common (near the Brewer Fountain) to distribute the cold weather gear and bagged lunches and most importantly connect with the homeless.
JATB’s goal is to provide comfort and support to those we encounter reminding them of their dignity as children of God and tending to their needs with provisions to keep them warm and fed, but most importantly with prayer and actively listening to those we encounter. We believe this is our mission as disciples and collaborating will help the young adult community have this opportunity to strengthen their faith journey with seeing Jesus in the poor.

Volunteer to help the Emmanuel Gospel Center Move!
After having been situated in the heart of the South End for over 80 years, the Emmanuel Gospel Center is moving to Second Church in Codman Square Dorchester! We would love your help archiving, packing, cleaning, and moving over the next several weeks in September as we make this historic transition in ministry location. There are ongoing opportunities for individuals nearly every day of the week and major move events where we’d love to have you and your community join us. Please sign up here to volunteer.
We’ll also be having a “Furniture Free for All” open house on September 24th and 25th at our San Juan Street location. If you have a need for office furniture, come on by with a vehicle and hands to help and haul away anything of your liking.
Reach out to ssathananthan@egc.org or call the center at 617-262-4567 for more information.
Making A Difference in Allston/Brighton
Did you know that there is a Christian community of vowed women in Brighton, whose mission is to realize Christ’s prayer “that they would be one,” and seek to work for unity and reconciliation where there is brokenness? Since 1873, these Sisters of St. Joseph have worked in schools, parishes, hospitals, nursing homes, retreat and campus ministry centers, refugee services, literacy programs, shelters, food pantries, and more.
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston are excited to host the 2018 “Make a Difference in Allston/Brighton” this Monday evening in Brighton. Their press release describes that this event, “seeks to honor the great work of active volunteers in Allston/Brighton and to recruit new volunteers for the 20 different non-profit organizations that will be represented.” These organizations all share the common goal of “loving the dear neighbor without distinction” throughout Allston/Brighton. We encourage the UniteBoston community to support their great work to serve and love our neighbors in Allston/Brighton.
