Join us for a powerful weekend at Second Church in Newton’s Contemporary Issues series as we examine one of the most urgent challenges facing faith and democracy today: Christian Nationalism.
We are honored to host three nationally recognized leaders for this symposium:
Katherine Stewart — Investigative journalist and New York Times best-selling author who has spent the last sixteen years documenting the rise of Christian Nationalism with unparalleled depth and clarity.
Rev. Rob Schenck — Former high-level Christian Nationalist insider who worked with U.S. Presidents, Congress, and the Supreme Court. His testimony offers a rare and invaluable perspective on the political dimensions of the movement.
Rev. Janna Louie — A leader in the Christians Against Christian Nationalism movement, equipping communities across the country to educate, advocate, and organize for justice and truth.

We’re thrilled to announce that Randy Alcorn will be our guest speaker at Sattler College on Friday evening, October 17th from 7:00PM – 8:30PM. Randy will be speaking on “Heaven” and will hold a book signing immediately after his talk. This is an opportunity to reflect on heaven and hear from someone who has devoted his ministry to sharing an eternal perspective.
Randy is the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM) and has written more than 60 books with over 12 million in print in more than 70 languages. His bestsellers include Heaven, The Treasure Principle, and Managing God’s Money: A Biblical Guide. Randy’s teaching has impacted countless Christians worldwide, pointing people to an eternal perspective rooted in Scripture.

Interested in deepening your understanding of housing justice? Join our book group to read Grace Can Lead Us Home: A Christian Call to End Homelessness by Kevin Nye. This study is a chance to move beyond feeling overwhelmed by the homelessness crisis and explore a faith-based approach to engaging with it.
The book, written by minister and advocate Kevin Nye, demystifies complex issues like affordable housing, addiction, and mental illness, while re-envisioning our theological response. It offers a powerful message: Jesus, from the margins, has something to teach us all about grace that could change the landscape of homelessness and our response to it.
