There is a Balm: A Service to Mark 1 Year of Ministry in COVID-19

March 19, 2021 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

On Friday March 19, 2021 at 12pm noon, the Staff and Board of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, along with a few special artists, will lead a service of prayer to mark one year of ministry in COVID. Join us on Facebook Live or on YouTube. Homilies from MCC Staff: Revs. Kenneth Young, Rev. Carrington Moore & Laura Everett.

Most Massachusetts churches started some modified schedule on Sunday March 15, 2020, and Governor Baker issued the first stay-at-home advisory beginning on Tuesday March 24, 2020. The first death from COVID-19 in Massachusetts was recorded on March 20,2020. And we entered a long and strange season of ministry in covid, where, as the Prophet Jeremiah heard “the cry of my poor people from fare and wide in the land.” For over a year, we have ministered in a strange land.

It will take years, perhaps our whole lifetime to make sense of this past year and what we’ve been through together.

But for now, come. Let us pray for you and with you. Let us name together what has broken us open and how God has carried us through. We are bold to proclaim that there is indeed a balm. Maybe not yet. Maybe someday. If you need someone else to pray that for you, come. Optional Zoom Coffee Hour to follow.

This event will be posted on Facebook Live here.
