Covenant Christian Academy is seeking a qualified professional in the area of visual arts education. The candidate for this position should hold a Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or equivalent art degree and have had experience teaching art in the classroom at the elementary and secondary school levels. The candidate will possess competency to engage in our distinctly Christian and Classical model with a passion for teaching art in a variety of approaches, styles, and formats.
A Visual Arts faculty position includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Plan and teach Art classes once per week for Grades K-8 for the entire year.
Plan and teach Rhetoric School (Grades 9-12) Art Electives twice per week for each semester. Electives include, but are not limited to, the following: 2-D Art, 3-D Art, Photography, Graphic Design, Ceramics.
Manage and maintain art classroom space and materials, including recommendations for purchases and classroom layout.
Oversee curriculum review and recommendations for the Visual Arts program.
Assist the Director of Fine Arts in managing visual art events and projects.
Be available for monthly all-staff meetings and fine arts department meetings.
Attend a minimal number of school events as representative of the CCA Fine Arts Program, including Back to School night and Admissions Events.
Be available during set hours each week to work with students individually for tutoring and/or coaching for art class or independent study.
Working knowledge and experience with computer technology and computer software for visual art applications is valuable and essential.
Must be willing to sign CCA’s Statement of Faith and Core Values. Must maintain the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model and mentor both in and out of school, to students, parents, fellow faculty members and employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living.The Visual Arts Faculty position is a full time position with benefits. We are willing to split this position into two part time positions depending on skill/qualifications. If split, the levels would be Grammar School (K-6) and USLR (7-12). Supplemental income from after-school programs and/or individual art lessons may be available.
Contract runs: September 2017 through June 2018; teaching is on a 10 month cycle.
