Cambridgeport Baptist Church  in Cambridge MA is seeking a part-time Youth Pastor for grades 6 – 12. Our church currently has a small but steady program for teenagers. We are praying for a committed, enthusiastic person to engage our teenagers (and their friends!) in quality discipleship, Bible study, social justice/service opportunities, fellowship time, and more, depending on the interests and passions of the right person.

    Qualifications
The youth pastor must have a passion for Jesus, a love for teenagers, and a heart to see them grow in relationship with Christ. We hope to find someone who demonstrates:

Qualities for good church leaders as described in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter
Agreement with CBC’s statement of faith, vision, values (see website)
Teaching skills and a love for God’s Word
Joyful spirit and good sense of humor
Ability to initiate activities and work with a staff team to streamline ministry goals and opportunities
Strong preference for a team approach including other staff, parents, and volunteers
A call to youth ministry, with seminary training and leadership experience a plus
An understanding of the unique needs of teenagers in today’s culture

    Responsibilities
Pray for our teenagers and their families
Spend time getting to know the youth and their families
Choose or create curriculum for weekly Bible instruction
    Lead Bible study
Disciple/Mentor those youth who would like more in-depth growth opportunities
Recruit qualified volunteer assistants, coordinate/designate their roles and teaching opportunities
Coordinate social events and other opportunities for fellowship apart from Sunday morning
Organize yearly trip to Youth Encountering Christ, (YEC), a January weekend conference (through Baptist Convention of New England)
Organize yearly trip to Crosswalk (through BCNE), a weeklong camp in July
Plan and oversee service/ministry opportunities and fundraisers as needed
    Participate in weekly staff meetings
Other discipleship, mentorship, service, and fellowship programs that fit the hourly availability of the Youth Pastor and meet the needs and interests of the youth

    To Apply
Please send your resume and faith story by October 1, 2017, to elders at cambridgeportbaptist org, including “Youth Pastor Search” in the subject line of your email. Please respond to at least one writing prompt. Choose from: 1) I feel most alive when…. 2) Failure is something that…. 3) I experienced God’s faithfulness when…

Part-time position, hours and salary negotiable
