We’re organizing the Boston location of “Hack For Missions,” an event happening in multiple cities around the world on November 4-6. Hacking is about trying out creative approaches to solving challenging problems together with other people who share similar goals. A “hackathon” is an intense period of design activity in technology. It’s about building connections with people of different backgrounds, between builders and planners and implementers, and encouraging people to think about how they can use their work and their skills to contribute to efforts of global importance. Participants will gather over the weekend and collaborate in teams to generate ideas and design prototype technology systems to address 10 Global Challenges: missional, humanitarian, or social issues. We’re looking for Christian tech folks, computer folks, design folks, or organizational gurus, to invite to 1) help organize ahead of time, 2) volunteer over the weekend, or 3) participate. The organizing team will be Christian but the participation on the design teams will be open to everyone. We want to be able to connect tech folks around Boston to each other, and get them thinking about how they might be able to use their unique skills to serve God. The website link is to the global effort, to join our local team contact Susan Arnold at susmer24 at gmail.com
