    Title: Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications
    Reports to: Senior Director of Marketing and Communications & Senior Director of Alumni Engagement
    Location: South Hamilton, MA
    Status: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

    Overview
    Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary is a multidenominational, evangelical graduate school committed to equipping Christian leaders to think theologically, engage globally, and live biblically. With nearly 1,400 students across campuses in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, and online, Gordon-Conwell’s student body represents more than eighty-five denominations and fifty countries. The seminary offers master’s and doctoral programs—delivered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese—that combine academic excellence, spiritual formation, and a deep commitment to Scripture. Its 12,000 alumni serve Christ through ministry in the church, the academy, and the workplace. Gordon-Conwell is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools, the New England Commission of Higher Education, and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

    Position Summary
    The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications is a creative, collaborative, and strategic individual who supports the daily operations of the Marketing and Communications Office (MarCom) and related functions of the Alumni Engagement Office. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director assists in the development and implementation of MarCom and Alumni strategies while providing relevant support to offices across the institution.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Contribute to the seminary’s multichannel editorial calendar, media campaigns, and collateral by helping to develop strategy and by creating written and graphic content.
    • Oversee the scheduling of content for social and web channels.
    • Drive project management and tracking for marketing and institution-wide projects, helping ensure projects are on track, all relevant parties stay informed, and deadlines are met.
    • Draft announcements and press releases for upcoming faculty publications, events, and other seminary news.
    • Create website content and assist in ensuring all content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the institutional branding and messaging.
    • Monitor and report on social and web analytics as they relate to content and engagement, and incorporate findings into data-informed strategies.
    • Propose and implement strategies to maintain an impactful and cost-effective digital presence.
    • Assist with the coordination and support of platforms and tools, including those for email marketing, event management, social media management, and design.
    • Provide proofreading support following the seminary’s editorial style guide.
    • Take photos, record short and long-form videos, and edit media for use in projects and initiatives.
    • Stay current with evolving trends, platforms, and best practices in digital marketing.
    • Serve the Office of Alumni Engagement as a special client, dedicating 25% of time to supporting related alumni and advancement initiatives at the direction of the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement.
    • Provide additional as-needed support.

    • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Personal warmth, ease in developing relationships, exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Commitment to collegiality, diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communication with others.
    • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy with students, coworkers, and constituents.
    • Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and serve in a team environment that requires collegiality and regular collaboration.
    • Technical Knowledge: Strong eye for visual composition and brand consistency. Competency with design and multimedia tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and those native to social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. Competency with web content management systems, familiarity with WordPress is a plus. Compentency with Microsoft Office, prioritizing Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to use web conferencing software (e.g., Zoom) required.
    • Knowledge and Discernment: Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and be capable of functioning effectively within a matrixed environment.
    • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, timeline management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Clear understanding of the mission of the Seminary and willingness to abide by the Community Life Statement of GCTS.

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications or commensurate experience required.
    • 3+ years of experience in marketing and communications or graphic design required; 5+ years preferred. At least 2 of those years should be hands-on design and multimedia work with tools mentioned above.
    • Demonstrated experience with project management and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Trello, or Asana).
