The apartment:
We are located about a 7 minute bus ride from the Forest Hills Station and 10 minute ride from Jackson Square (Orange lines), and 15-20 minutes from Andrews Station (Red line). Grove Hall shopping center (Stop n Shop, CVS, DD, BoA) is a 5 minute walk away. There are many buses and bus stops within one to two minutes walking distance from the house that will take you to the nearest T stop, Grove Hall shopping center and the South Bay Mall! Also there’s the really great food rescue grocery store Daily Table nearby, and the income-based Healthworks, and a new yoga studio that is also very affordable and community oriented. There is no permit necessary for easy on-street parking next to the house.Rent is $408, not including gas (heat -about $40 in spring/fall, highest of $80 in winter) or electricity, but we share those and we’re all about finding ways to keep costs down… Especially in the winter.
The room is available starting Sept 1 with some flexibility on move in date.
The current open room is cozy – it fits a twin bed fine, a full would be a bit tight. There’s a shallow closet and more closet space around the corner in one of the hall closets. Room for a desk and bureau and your own staircase down the kitchen (great for when you want to pop downstairs quickly and hopefully avoid too much chatting between studying or anything else you’re up to!) We’ll try to get pictures for you soon.
OTHER NICE DETAILS ABOUT THE HOUSE:
Raised bed garden
Free washer and dryer in basementThe housemates:
We are five Christian women in our 20s-30s. We chose to live together because we all want to build an intentional community that is working toward living out our faith in our local community through personal involvement in our jobs, our churches, and our neighborhood. We try to pray together weekly for each other and for our extended communities, which is one way that we have committed to being active parts of each others’ lives. We also try to have bi-monthly house events (like house parties and worship nights) though we’ve gotten busy and it hasn’t happened in a while due to none of being particularly musical (and having to recruit musical friends).Hospitality is a HUGE value: We’d like our home to be a place that we feel very comfortable, and a place we really want to invite people to. Neighbors, Boston friends and old friends/visitors from out of town are all very welcome as long as everyone feels safe and respected.
Email me at peacepoiesis@gmail.com if this interests you and you want to have more detailed conversations about this community! Please tell us a little about yourself, your experience with community housing if any, and what days you would be available to meet up.
