Footwashing in Boston During Holy Week

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” (John 13:14-15)

“Jesus’ foot washing challenges me to consider my work and leadership differently. Servant leadership is fine, but servanthood doesn’t necessarily imply love. Leadership that manifests and concretizes love is harder.” – from Alaina Kleinbeck’s article, “Foot washing is about love, not just servanthood.”

The newly renovated Catholic Cathedral opened on Holy Week. During the Mass on Holy Thursday, Catholic Cardinal Sean O’Malley washes the feet of members of the congregation, following the example of Jesus Christ. More photos from Holy Week on Cardinal Sean’s Blog.
