Narcan Training to Prevent Opiod Overdose

NARCAN TRAINING AT FAITH
On November 6 at 6:30 PM, Faith Lutheran will host a Narcan training.
Narcan is the brand name for Naloxone, a lifesaving drug that can bring people out of an opioid induced overdose. Every year over 2000 people die of opioid overdoses (fentanyl, heroin, and other drugs). Narcan, applied by a trained professional or good Samaritan, can save a life.
You could be that person.
Come and be trained at 6:30 PM on November 6 downstairs in the parish hall at Faith.
NOTE: If you sign up in advance, you can purchase your own personal Narcan spray.
Cost with MassHealth is under $10. With regular insurance somewhere around $40. Without insurance around $150.
Tali Schiller from the City of Cambridge describes how to get your own Narcan spray:
“Like most prescription medications, people will have the option to pay for a rescue kit with their insurance. We highly recommend that attendeessubmit their insurance info in advance to prevent any unnecessary costs. All pre-billed kits, will be filled and ready for pickup upon arrival. The attendee will need to verify the name and date of birth of the person whose insurance was used to fill the kit. One person may pickup multiple kits. For example, a father can pick up kits for his wife and children. Note: you do not have to be related to the person to pick up his/her kit. You must be able to verify the person’s full name and date of birth.
Insurance information can be submitted online at https://www.
If the person does not want to use his/her insurance that is absolutely fine. I still recommend that the individual fill out the electronic form so we can create a patient profile and pre-fill the kit for them. They would simply write “no insurance or declining to use insurance” in the form.”
