Crossing the Divide: Communicating Across Deep Disagreements

February 24, 2017 from 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

You’re invited to Emmanuel Gospel Center’s next Lunch and Learn, Friday February 24th from 12:15-1:15pm. Bring your lunch and join us. Feel free to invite people from your networks.

Real unity requires courageous vulnerability and generous listening. In spite of the division we see all around us, it is possible to foster space in our deepest selves where compassion and safety coexist in a real way, where we have the emotional capacity to risk and an understanding of God’s presence that reframes what safety looks like. (Hint: it doesn’t look like never getting hurt.) Kristyn will draw on her own experience of being in committed, intentional dialogue with others from various theological convictions.

Bio:
Kristyn Komarnicki is Evangelical for Social Action’s director of dialogue and convening at ESA/Sider Center. The creator of our Oriented to Love dialogues about sexual/gender diversity in the church, Kristyn facilitates (and trains others to facilitate) these two-day, intimate retreats that help Christians of different sexual/gender orientations and theological convictions come together to get to know, understand, and love each other, unified by the love of Christ.
