“Not In My City” Outreach

April 11, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

From April 9-15, during Holy Week, we are gathering to bless our city in prayer, outreach and service. The goal is for God to be glorified through people to encounter His love and heart for all people.

Tuesday night specifically is a community service outreach opportunity with a time of equipping and education and then going into the community to educate local business on how to identify victims of human trafficking.

On April 11th from 6-9pm, we will be leading an activity called “Not In My City” to educate and raise awareness about human trafficking victims and activities. This includes a one hour training followed by two hours of reaching out to businesses in our local Allston/Brighton community with basic human trafficking information and requesting to hang a small poster in their business’ window or lobby area. We have met with the Boston Police Department and have their full support. The Human Trafficking Division of the BPD are thrilled to have faith-based communities involved in the fight against human trafficking and have offered themselves as a resource to us in this event.

This activity is designed for churches to practically engage in relevant areas of social justice and has been successfully carried out by other churches/church groups nationwide. (Activity through unboundnow.org). This will take place at the Presentation School Community Center: 640 Washington St, Oak Square, Brighton.
