Words of Hope Africa (WOHA) seeks a U.S. Director of Expansion and Development to lead the organization into its next stage of growth to further its mission. The role is envisioned as part-time but could be expanded to full-time. WOHA is a non-profit ministry dedicated to empowering widows and orphans by equipping church leaders with the necessary spiritual and physical tools to care for them. WOHA originally began as a ministry to AIDS victims in the remote villages of Southwestern Uganda. Today, it serves hundreds of widows and orphans in Southern Uganda through facilitating “widow groups,” micro-financing projects, theological education, disaster relief, and also operating a small school and multi-faceted center, the Hope Center, located on 8 acres of land in the Mbarara District of Southwestern Uganda. WOHA’s holistic approach to ministry is unique in that it works with the local church to empower, rather than creating dependence upon someone or something, in order to restore hope to those in need. Though small, we have seen God grow and bless our ministry, and we look forward to what He has in store for our future.
A full job description is available upon request, but we are looking for an entrepreneurial candidate with a passion for international missions and the ability to raise funds for the ministry (their salary is dependent on the funds raised). Currently our entire staff is Ugandan, based in Uganda, so this candidate will lead all US support and strategy operations and report to the Ugandan director and the WOHA Board. The job will only require 15-20 hours per week and will provide a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to travel to partner sites and Uganda. Please reach out if you are interested!
