Hi everyone, I’m looking for any suggestions or advice:
A friend of mine who is also a pastor in Kovrov, Russia has reached out to me and asked for some help. One teenage boy from his church is a very talented pianist and he just has received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Boston for one semester. His family and church don’t want to miss this opportunity and trying to raise money to send him to the US for 5 months from January to May 2020. The main problem is a very expensive housing market in the Boston area. Even if they will raise some money for the boy to get tickets, make a visa and buy some food he still wouldn’t be able to rent a proper room for 5 months with a reasonable commute to Boston. So I’m looking for any ideas to whom I can talk to, to help them in this situation. As I was told, the boy is very humble and quiet, he serves in a worship team in his church playing on the piano. He will be able to pay some rent or bills, but only as much as his church will be able to raise. It is all very hard for a small Russian church to raise so much money.
Maybe some of you know any Christian families who will be able to host this boy for 5 months for a cheaper price in Metro Boston Area or near the commuter lines or any Christian organizations which will be able to help him with a place to live in.
I will be happy for any advice and contacts!
Thanks!Craig ParkerGuestHello, my wife, Nancy and I are on staff with The Navigators, live in Winthrop, have had many students live with us over the years. We are about 120 yards from the bus stop that goes to Orient Heights Station, Blue line. Door to door to Berklee is about 45 minutes. We have two open bedrooms this spring. We can help provide lodging and meals. We would welcome some financial compensation if possible.. Plus we have a piano he can practice on. You can contact me directly at craig.parker@mac.com
