On September 27, 2017, Pope Francis launched the 2-year “Share the Journey” campaign, with migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. He is asking us to hear their stories, literally, share their journeys and see them as our brothers and sisters. Throughout this 2-year “journey”, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston Immigration Committee is planning events and disseminating material to help sisters, associates, partners in mission, and all “dear neighbors” to focus in prayer and in action on behalf of the 65 million refugees and migrants seeking shelter, safety, and eventually a “home”.
For nearly a half-century, the Catholic Church in the United States has celebrated National Migration Week, which is an opportunity for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children, and victims and survivors of human trafficking.
“Many Journeys, One Family,” the theme for National Migration Week, draws attention to the fact that each of our families has a migration story, some recent and others in the distant past. Regardless of where we are and where we came from, we remain part of the human family and are called to live in solidarity with one another.
