SUMMARY:Join with the Sisters of St. Joseph for Taize Prayer & more
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join us on March 19\, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse\, 637 Cambridge Street\, Brighton\, MA for our next Taizé prayer service. We envision this gathering as a way to bring hope to others at this crucial time in our world. \nWe have selected March 19\, 2026\, which is also St. Joseph Day to be in participate with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in what is called\, “100 Days of Prayer\, Fasting\, and Advocacy”. These 100 Days are scheduled from Wednesday\, February 18 (Ash Wednesday) thru Sunday\, June 7\, 2026 (Feast of Corpus Christi). LCWR member congregations have been asked to select a specific day of prayer to address societal challenges through collective\, intentional prayer\, fasting\, and advocacy for justice. \nThe Sisters of St. Joseph believe that prayer matters.  We know that prayer leads us to respond to the needs of the people of God. For generations\, we have fasted from what distracts us from keeping God as our center point. Many of us experience the desire to respond to ever-increasing division with a call to love with hearts of contemplation and action. Recognizing the Gospel call and our values of contemplation intersected with action\, we continue to to deepen our commitment to extended times of silence and prayer while also using our voices to speak truth with courage.

SUMMARY:Make a Difference in Allston Brighton!
DESCRIPTION:The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston Present \n“Make a Difference in Allston/Brighton Day” \nAn evening to honor Allston Brighton volunteers as we present many local organizations in need of more help. Come and mingle. Find out. Sign up. Become a volunteer.      \n637 Cambridge Street Brighton\, MA October 29\, 2018 6:15 P.M.-8 P.M. The Sisters of   Saint Joseph of Boston are pleased to host the 2018 “Make a Difference in Allston/Brighton” at the Motherhouse in Brighton. This day will serve two distinct purposes: to honor the great work of active volunteers in Allston/Brighton and to recruit new volunteers for the 20 different non-profit organizations that will be represented.  Our neighborhood community is always looking for extra helping hands who are willing and able to volunteer time and resources to those in need. Meet and speak with organizations that directly impact our neighborhood through the diverse support they offer to seniors\, immigrants\, families\, women\, and children. There will also be a short program to honor the people who have generously donated their time in service of the community. \n“Our organizations rely on the generosity of volunteers to provide a variety of services to those in need. The ‘Make a Difference’ event is a great way to get connected with these 20 different organizations and like-minded individuals\,” explains Jill Uchiyama\, the director of The Literacy Connection. The Literacy Connection is a ministry started by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston with the goal of providing ESOL tutoring to immigrants in Boston and citizenship prep classes and is one of the organizations that will be represented. These organizations all share the common goal of “loving the dear neighbor without distinction” throughout Allston/Brighton. \nDoors open at 6:15 PM and refreshments will be provided. For more information about this event please contact Jill Uchiyama at jill.uchiyama@csjboston.org or 617-746-2104. \n### \nThe Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston is a religious community of vowed apostolic women with a contemplative stance toward life\, whose mission is to realize the prayer of Christ that all may be one. Their special focus\, their mission\, is to work for unity and reconciliation where there is brokenness\, to help people become whole and holy\, individually and together. Since arriving in Boston in 1873\, they have staffed more than 130 educational institutions\, worked in more than 30 healthcare ministries and participated in more than 85 service ministries within the Archdiocese of Boston. You will meet Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston in schools\, parishes\, hospitals\, nursing homes\, retreat\, and campus ministry centers\, refugee services\, literacy programs\, shelters\, food pantries\, and more. In community and prayerful contemplation\, they listen to the Spirit and move always toward profound love of God and love of neighbor without distinction. For more information visit www.csjboston.org. \n

SUMMARY:Share the Journey: Join in Prayer during NATIONAL MIGRATION WEEK
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse \nWednesday\, January 10\, 2018 \n to “Share the Journey” and join in prayer for \nNational Migration Week\nThere will be prayer services at \n12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m. \n637 Cambridge St.\, Brighton\, MA 02135 \nAll are welcome \n  \nOn September 27\, 2017\, Pope Francis launched the 2-year “Share the Journey” campaign\, with migrants\, refugees\, and asylum seekers. He is asking us to hear their stories\, literally\, share their journeys and see them as our brothers and sisters.  Throughout this 2-year “journey”\, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston Immigration Committee is planning events and disseminating material to help sisters\, associates\, partners in mission\, and all “dear neighbors” to focus in prayer and in action on behalf of the 65 million refugees and migrants seeking shelter\, safety\, and eventually  a “home”. \nFor nearly a half-century\, the Catholic Church in the United States has celebrated National Migration Week\, which is an opportunity for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants\, including immigrants\, refugees\, children\, and victims and survivors of human trafficking. \n“Many Journeys\, One Family\,” the theme for National Migration Week\,  draws attention to the fact that each of our families has a migration story\, some recent and others in the distant past. Regardless of where we are and where we came from\, we remain part of the human family and are called to live in solidarity with one another. \nLearn more at https://www.sharejourney.org/

SUMMARY:Dr. James J. O’Connell\, M.D.\, Lessons from the Street: Three Decades of Boston's Rough Sleepers
DESCRIPTION:Dr. James J. O’Connell\, known as “Dr. Jim” to the numberless homeless population he has served over the past 30 years. He is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and currently an assistant professor of medicine there.  Serving Boston’s homeless was not a career path Dr. Jim might normally have chosen upon completion of his residency at MGH.  But once introduced to the work and the people\, initially at the Pine Street Inn\, he was captivated by the possibilities.  The engagement with homeless men and women has moved between the streets\, the clinic at MGH\, and—most recently—the Barbara McInnis House\, a respite unit for homeless patients.  At the same time\, Dr. Jim maintains his connections to the academic community\, through teaching and publishing.  Audiences are inspired by his commitment\, his story-telling\, his profound respect for his patients\, and his embodiment of Gospel values.
