SUMMARY:RCCI's Community Gathering & Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:In the midst of the racism and polarization in our word\, the Church must rise up and be a faithful witness. We must choose to model the way of Jesus – who speaks truth\, embodies love\, and affirms the dignity of every image bearer. \nBut how are we to do this? And how are we to sustain this work in these challenging times? \nYou are invited to connect in community\, be encouraged\, and get equipped to be a faithful witness to Jesus. Come to RCCI’s Community Gathering & Fundraiser at 5pm on June 6th. \nLearn how others are resisting racism and sustaining their shalom-building work. You are not alone. Together we can grow in our faith\, expand our imaginations\, and find creative ways to continue Christ’s redemptive work across racial lines. \nPlease RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/376355mp. \nHope to see you there! \nMegan & the RCCI team

SUMMARY:Rooted in Justice: Youth Ministry Cohort Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 4\, 2026Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PMLocation: Second Church in Dorchester | 44 Moultrie St. Dorchester\, MA 02124 \nAbout the Event \nUniteBoston is partnering with Arrabon for Rooted in Justice\, a one-day workshop intensive designed for those who walk closely with teenagers ages 13–17. This training is for youth pastors\, ministry leaders\, mentors\, parents\, and caregivers who are navigating the complexities of forming faith in a world shaped by trauma\, division\, and deep questions about justice\, belonging\, and hope. \nThis immersive day invites participants into a space of formation\, not just information. Through trauma-informed learning\, shared practices\, and honest dialogue with others across diverse contexts\, you’ll grow in active listening\, empathy\, courage\, and a vision for justice-shaped discipleship that meets young people where they truly are. \nParticipants will receive access to the Cultivating Kinship curriculum\, a six-week spiritual formation resource equipping Christ-followers to engage hard conversations with compassionate curiosity\, embodied faith\, and hope. This intensive also serves as an entry point into the larger Rooted in Justice cohort journey\, including opportunities for continued formation and a potential immersion experience in Montgomery\, Alabama. \nCome ready to be equipped\, challenged\, and rooted more deeply in walking with the next generation to follow Jesus. \nWe’re able to offer this event for FREE – please REGISTER HERE and help to spread the word!

SUMMARY:Nurture: UniteBoston's 2022 Fundraising Party
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for UniteBoston’s annual fundraising party on Thursday December 8 at 7:00pm at Second Church in Dorchester. This will be a night of live music\, food\, and stories to celebrate how God has been at work through UniteBoston. \nThis year’s theme is “Nurture” – Nurture speaks to the humble posture that is required to bring about unity and reconciliation\, requiring tender care for each member of the body as a gardener tends to a garden. Nurturing means that you provide nourishment and also root out any weeds that are hindering growth\, so that the garden can holistically flourish and bless those who visit it.  \nThis is an in-person event\, and you can also join us via Facebook Live during the evening’s program. Parking is available\, and it is a short walk from the Shawmut station on the red line. \nThere is no cost to attend\, but there will be an opportunity to invest in UniteBoston’s nurturing ministry in the city at the event. Space is limited\, so please register your spot via Eventbrite here. We look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:"A Reckoning in Boston" Screening and Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:A Reckoning in Boston is a documentary which focuses on a deep racial history between black and white communities within the city of Boston. We explore race dynamics that contribute to marginalization\, gentrification and community violence. The documentary assesses how we sit as moral witnesses and reconcile our experiences with racism and racial marginalization\, towards acknowledgment\, resolution\, change. In this documentary\, we seek understanding of our unseen lived experiences\, in a very vulnerable way. We seek to educate and teach a better understanding about how racial dynamics affect every aspect of our lives. \nSpirituality is an underlying dimension of the community activism and introspection presented in the film. At this event Co-producer\, Kafi Dixon\, founder of Common Good Cooperatives\, will discuss the role of Black Churches and spirituality as sites of resistance and joy in communities. \nJoin us for a community screening of the film followed by an open community discussion about faith spaces as sites of activism. The film screening is approximately 90-minutes and will be followed by an hour-long discussion. \nThis is a hybrid event\, and this registration is for those who will be joining in-person at Second Church in Dorchester. If you’d like to register for the virtual screening\, click here. \n“A Reckoning: The Conversation” Series is brought to you by Common Good Cooperatives in partnership with Lost Nation Pictures\, Ltd. & GBH. This event is co-sponsored by UniteBoston\, in conjunction with The Table Dorchester\, Neighborhood Church of Dorchester and Second Church in Dorchester. \nTo watch the film at your convenience\, click here. Please note that the documentary is available to watch online only until February 22. \n\n“While making this film\, I realized ever-present structural racism was something I could no longer ignore\, and with the help of my subjects\, co-producers and friends Kafi and Carl\, we transformed the film. Our collaboration led to an honest and raw exploration of economic and racial inequality\, in a city with a glaringly wide racial wealth divide. I hadn’t really understood the lives of low-income people of color\, and had failed to recognize my own complicity in the structures that were holding them back. Looking back now\, there’s some irony in a white suburban filmmaker being encouraged to find and value his voice\, by people whose stories he had set out to tell. I hope that is evident to viewers of our film.” \n-Filmmaker James Rutenbeck \n“We cannot overcome racial and economic inequalities if we continue to ignore that these disparities exist. It was important that James come into the lives of Carl and I\, and experience firsthand what it means to be evicted\, and reckon with his own silence and how it contributes to racism and inequity. Through these life experiences\, James became aware of his blind spots\, and we came together to make a film that hopefully encourages others to speak up.” \n-Subject and producer Kafi Dixon
