SUMMARY:CASKET Old Testament Seminar with Dr. Carol Kaminski
DESCRIPTION:CASKET is an Old Testament seminar designed to help one study and learn the Bible. The word CASKET is an acronym for the Old Testament\, with each letter representing a key period in God’s redemption story. \nCome hear Dr. Carol Kaminski\, Professor of Old Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary\, as she leads this seminar! Dr. Kaminski will be a guest speaker at Ruggles Baptist Church on February 12th from 9am-12pm. \nYou can register here: www.symphonychurch.com/CASKET. \n\nPlease note that there are 2 registration options: one with the Old Testament CASKET Timeline and one without.\nWe highly encourage you to register with the Timeline! More information regarding this timeline is below.\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Testament CASKET Timeline is a color timeline which folds up to a compact size of inches 5.5 inches wide and 8 inches in height\, but when unfolded it is 40 inches long. This timeline is small enough to fit in the pocket of your Bible\, yet its rich content makes it a helpful resource to have at hand whenever you read the Old Testament. The back side of the timeline provides a theological key to the pictures that will help you learn about central biblical themes in the Old Testament and recognize the continuity in God’s redemptive plan. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you on February 12th!

SUMMARY:Politics\, Economics\, & Believers At Odds with the Present Order
DESCRIPTION:At odds with the present order\nA critical review of liberalism—left\, right\, and center \nYes\, we want to be good neighbors and engaged citizens. Yes\, we “seek the welfare of the city” where we live\, spiritually\, as resident aliens away from our heavenly homeland. (Jeremiah 29:7) But a large and growing chorus of Christians from all traditions also decries the easy relationship the church has developed with our current political and economic framework. \nWhy? What exactly is liberalism—classical right\, progressive left\, and popular middle? \nWhy is it problematic for so many thoughtful Christians? What are the ideas and practical consequences at the root of the discontent\, increasingly shared by Catholics\, Reformed\, and Orthodox Christians—often joined by their Jewish and Muslim friends? \nAnd what are the viable options for those committed to justice\, peace\, order\, and the common good? \nCatch up with the conversation\, and join in. \nSaturday\, March 17\n10:00 AM-3:00 PM \nRuggles Baptist Church\n874 Beacon St.\nBoston\, MA 02215 \nJoin us for an discussion at the current intersection of discipleship and public life\, introduced and facilitated by\n the Rev. Dr. Kelly Madden. \n \nKelly Madden is the founder and executive director of the Boston Fellows program. He has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Gordon College (Political Science) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Christian Thought)\, with a PhD in Politics from the University of York (UK) and an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell\, specializing in the intersection of Church and Public Life. \nPrior to founding the Fellows program\, Kelly was Director of Graduate Studies at the International Leadership Foundation\, teaching and building the academic standards of the International Leadership University’s six graduate schools in Africa. Before that he lived and worked in French-speaking Africa for 13 years\, first as a chaplain to university students\, then overseeing chaplaincy programs in 15 countries.  He has worked in 45 countries on five continents.\nThis event is free and open to the public. \nLunch is provided. \nIn order to reserve your spot\, please RSVP Here by Thursday\, March 15.
