DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, November 3\, we gain an hour (daylight savings time changes)\, and what better way to celebrate than with other Christian believers across the North Shore for a UniteBoston fall potluck dinner? DESCRIPTION:East Boston is a beautiful\, lively\, resilient neighborhood. Few people realize that it’s the 4th largest neighborhood in Boston; home to more than 7% of all Bostonians. While it’s most commonly thought of as the “neighborhood by the airport\,” it really ought to be known for its vibrant immigrant communities\, lovely green spaces\, passionate community organizations\, talented artists\, and top-notch cuisine. East Boston is beautiful. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs people of faith we believe that this beauty is a gift from God. This world was made by God and belongs to God. That makes Eastie sacred space. And yet for all of its loveliness\, the neighborhood experiences significant tensions. Whether its economic hardship\, racism\, environmental strain\, illness\, isolation\, hopelessness\, or loneliness\, there is brokenness within us and around us. On top of this\, the neighborhood has seen a significant decrease in religious organizations and churches over the years. As it stands\, the average resident has less likelihood of encountering the hope\, beauty\, and purpose found in relationship with God than they do in almost any other Boston neighborhood. \n\n\n\n\nThat’s why we’re endeavoring to start Resurrection Church this year. We’re NOT on a mission to “resurrect” East Boston–the resurrection in our name is about the hope found in the history-defining resurrection of Jesus over death. We simply want to join in with what God is already doing here so that more people might come to live a satisfying life with God\, find meaningful community\, and love their neighbors well. It’s a humble vision. And it’s a huge vision. \n\n\n\n\nWhile we won’t be holding a public worship service until September\, we are forming what’s called a “Core Team” beginning in April\, and then expanding to an expanded “Launch Team” in mid-July. DESCRIPTION:Route One is a program of the Emmanuel Gospel Center. We serve women and girls exploited by training Christian women on entering strip clubs. DESCRIPTION:Chris Stackaruk and Kevin Singer are co-founders of the Neighborly Faith Initiative\, and are traveling to Boston to interview Catholics and Evangelicals involved in UniteBoston for an upcoming podcast series entitled: “Divided We Stand?: Evangelicals and Catholics Search for Common Ground.” \nGod calls us to love our neighbors of different beliefs and faiths\, and they are investigating how Evangelicals can become better neighbors to Catholics\, and vice versa. Cooperation and dialogue between Catholics and Evangelicals is uncommon. They are investigating why this is the case and showcasing inspirational exceptions. \nWe are planning to meet at a home in Brookline on the evening of Monday June 18th for the interviews. Please stop by anytime between 4 and 8pm; food will be provided! For those who would like to hang out\, there may also be outdoor worship in the adjacent park. DESCRIPTION:What is contributing to churches that are growing in Boston? How do we invite our neighbors\, colleagues\, and friends into the good news found in Jesus? \nIf you’ve ever considered these questions\, please join us for a community discussion on effective and loving practices for sharing the gospel in our communities. The goal is to share our experiences\, explore existing evangelism models\, and consider together how to both share the good news and accompany people on a life-long discipleship journey of following Jesus. \nThe second community dinner will meet on Sunday May 20th from 6:30 to 8:30pm with Tim and Alice Colegrove from Jamaica Plain. We will eat together\, learn and discuss\, and then pray together. This is Pentecost Sunday\, so we are hoping that the spirit of God will meet us deeply! \nThe dinner is free to attend and people from all Christian backgrounds are welcome to attend.
