SUMMARY:Prophetic Leadership Principles
DESCRIPTION:Greater Boston\, this is a season for depth.\n\nSPL1000: Prophetic Principles is the gateway course of the School of Prophetic Leadership — designed for believers who sense a call to hear clearly\, discern biblically\, and lead with integrity. In a time when voices are loud and clarity is rare\, this course grounds you in Scripture\, spiritual formation\, and tested prophetic foundations.\n\nThis is not hype. This is formation.\n\nOver this journey\, you’ll explore how revelation\, interpretation\, and application work together. You’ll grow in discernment before declaration\, character before commissioning\, and structure before expansion. Whether you serve in church\, marketplace\, intercession\, or culture\, SPL1000 strengthens your spiritual depth and leadership maturity.\n\nIf you’re called to speak\, lead\, or build — but want to be rooted first — this is your next step.\n\nRegistration is open. Join us and build on foundations that last.

SUMMARY:Pathways to Grace: Healing and Renewal for Women and Men.
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this interactive\, experiential hybrid online/in-person experience with Gender Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI)\, specifically focused for Christian communities. This will be held with online sessions November 24 and December 1\, and in-person sessions December 4\, 5\, and 6. \nDeveloped over 30 years and conducted with thousands of participants across six continents\, the GERI process applies principles of Truth and Reconciliation pioneered by Archbishop Desmond Tutu to begin a process of healing divisions across humanity. Our journey on this course will take us through the often-muted attitudes\, fears\, shame and brokenness of patriarchal society\, to reclaim and restore the mutual harmony\, respect and collaboration intended for men and women as God’s image bearers. \nLeaving behind our busy agendas\, we join together to create a safe space for attentive listening as we begin to unravel the truth of our gendered experiences. Gradually\, a deeper level of compassion and understanding unfolds to reveal tangible pathways to re-imagine and re-form gender relations that move toward forgiveness\, healing and the restoration of relationships. \nPlease join us as we embrace a new form of spiritual healing and reconciliation work that builds trust and connection through a skillful combination of interactive activities\, spiritual practice\, and transformative group process. \n\nOnline sessions: Monday\, November 24\, and Monday\, December 1 (6:00–8:30 p.m.)\nIn-person retreat: December 4 (5:30–9:00 p.m.)\, December 5 (4:00–9:00 p.m.)\, and December 6 (9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.)\n\n\n\nFor more information\, visit www.grworld.org. Or email Michele Breene\, michelebreene@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Sound the Trumpet Preaching Session
DESCRIPTION:The Sound the Trumpet in Zion Preaching Conference on October 3-4\, 2024 was an overwhelming success!  Unashamedly Black\, unapologetically Christian\, and unabashedly inclusive\, Christians from across New England gathered for two days of worship and workshops to sharpen their craft\, grounded in Black church traditions. \nAll preachers and church leaders are invited to an additional Preaching Session with Rev. Dr. Martha Simons on Tuesday November 5 at 6:30pm EST. You MUST register at the zoom link.  \nDr. Martha Simmons will lead a conversation on “Doing the Deed: Preaching for the Present Age.” As we face several obstacles and opportunities\, my prayer is that we will be able to communicate a message of light in darkness.

SUMMARY:Accompanying New Arrivals: Solidarity & Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:Since family shelter stopped being guaranteed in MA in August\, volunteers have had a fast-paced and heartbreaking few months supporting unhoused families at the train stations and welcome centers. Others have been working to open the doors of their congregations or personal homes to provide shelter and keep families off the streets. Over the past three months we have witnessed how state systems are deeply failing our newest neighbors. On Oct 22 from 7-8:30 pm\, we will offer a training for volunteers to come together to learn\, understand the basic principles of accompaniment and solidarity\, and discuss how to take care of ourselves in the face of systemic injustice so that we can stay engaged in this work. If you are new to volunteering\, we will include some concrete steps on how to get more involved! Workshop developed by Boston Immigrant Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN)\, Episcopal City Mission\, and MA Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition. \nClick HERE to Register.

SUMMARY:Soul Care Cohort
DESCRIPTION:WOW! Soul Care cohorts are a geographically accessible\, financially affordable ministry care program designed for ministry\, community\, and organizational leaders that can be attended and sustained within their regular rhythm of ministry and life. We envision these gathering times to be a communal soul sabbath\, where participants will be led through contemplative exercises and introduced to group spiritual direction\, giving space for each individual to listen and pay attention to how God would like to minister to and care for them. We would like to foster a community of grace for these ministry leaders to share and listen in a safe setting and leave nourished\, better able to fulfill the work the Lord has called them to. We also want to connect them to practical resources and equipping on caring for themselves and others in their communities through coaching and teaching from Christian mental and emotional health experts\, with exercises they will need to complete for their own care. We believe this type of cohort support creates space for participants to connect with\, learn\nfrom and value one another\, embracing our mission of prayer\, teaching and celebration in helping women uncover and affirm their God-given calling. \nApplications are receiving on a rolling basis. Please feel free to contact us for any further questions or clarification.

SUMMARY:Sports as Sacred Activity
DESCRIPTION:Boston University’s School of Theology is offering a mini-course entitled “Sports as Sacred Activity” as part of their online lifelong learning offerings. In the busiest cities and in the smallest of towns across America\, there are two entities you can always find— a church and some form of recreation; a basketball court\, soccer field\, or baseball diamond. Together\, sports and religion can lead to important questions about embodiment\, teamwork\, competition\, and play. Over the course of 3 weeks\, this spirituality group will explore the cultural and spiritual significance of sports. More than conversation\, this mini-course will engage our bodies for further meditation on how we experience the divine through physical activity. If you identify as a sports fan or athlete\, coach or camp director\, campus minister or sports chaplain\, we invite you to “join the team” as we huddle at the intersection of sports and religion. \nThis course is facilitated by Cynthia N. Perry\, M.Div. (STH ’23)\, a former college athletic trainer and fitness director. Meeting dates are on Mondays and Wednesdays for 6 sessions beginning on Monday\, July 17th. Subsequent sessions are on July 19th (W)\, July 24th (M)\, July 26th (W)\, July 31st (M)\, and August 2nd (W). Sessions run from 6 – 7:15pm EDT.

SUMMARY:Uncomfortable Conversations: Let's talk about gun violence
DESCRIPTION:“We are in a state of emergency in America. Gun violence occupies the headlines of every news outlet. It is such a polarizing subject\, with pro-gun advocates placed against those who chose gun control. No matter on what side you find yourself\, we have to agree we must do something to prevent gun violence in our country. The church especially!”\n– Dr. Roger A. Mitchell Jr.\n\n\n\n\n– Did you know that in 2020\, gun violence resulted in more than 45\,000 deaths in the US?\n– Did you know that every day 321 people are shot in the US?\n– Did you know there are 120.5 guns for every 100 people in the US?\n– Did you know Americans are 25x more likely to be killed in a gun homicide than people in other high-income countries?\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is our role as Christians in a country with this culture? How can we seek the flourishing of our neighbors in light of these realties? Our panel of experts and activists will help us understand this important issue and challenge us with ways we can engage to make a difference. \n\n\n(Sources: Brady United\, Bloomberg\, Gifford’s Law Center to Reduce Gun Violence\, and AVAIL The Journal)

SUMMARY:Trauma Healing Information Session for Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Today’s news is full of trauma – War in Ukraine\, COVID-19\, fear of sickness and death; racial tension\, protests\, and the ongoing struggle for justice; rampant unemployment\, the opiod crisis\, political division and hostility and so much more. Trauma is any deep wound in the mind and heart. It can affect anyone\, and can take a long time to heal. Trauma knows no boundaries of nationality\, gender\, age\, social class\, or race. We live in a fallen world and groan inwardly from the painful consequences of the fall. The Church is uniquely called to this mission field. \n \nCome to this Online Information Session for Leaders\, hosted by Boston Trauma Healing Collaborative\, to learn more how your church can be equipped to respond to trauma. Churches that are trauma-informed not only help their own congregants to address their wounds of the heart\, but they also reduce the possibility of harm happening to traumatized individuals by ill-equipped volunteers\, rather than guiding them on a path towards healing and an opportunity to experience the life changing message of the gospel. \nTo register\, click here.  \nQuestions? Contact Dana Baker\, Director\, Boston Trauma Healing Collaborative at dana@bostoncollaborative.org \nEvent Organizers \n \nThe American Bible Society and the Trauma Healing Institute have partnered together for many years to develop a Bible-based Trauma Healing small group curriculum that is designed to lead anyone through a restorative process to healing and restoring the brokenness in their hearts and lives. \nBoston Trauma Healing Collaborative (BTHC)\, officially launched in November of 2020\, has been learning about best practices in trauma healing for a couple of years\, and is well positioned to help churches learn how to respond to people and unacceptable realities\, that are often rooted in trauma\, in the Greater Boston area. The vision of Boston Trauma Healing Collaborative is to develop an integrated strategy that draws from the strengths of current trauma healing programs (both locally and nationally)\, to train and equip churches and communities to become more trauma-informed in their response. \n
