SUMMARY:The Diary of Perpetua Premiere Screening
DESCRIPTION:A young woman from northern Africa was given a choice:\n“Renounce Jesus\, or be killed.”\nWhile this theme could have been torn from today’s headlines in too many places\, this true story\, written by the hand of Vibia Perpetua\, was recorded in 203 AD. One of the earliest known writings by a woman\, Perpetua writes about her journey in which she must decide whether what she believes\, and ultimately who she is\, is worth the loss of family\, children\, the chance to live in peace\, and even her very life. \nPerpetua’s struggle is brought to life in a new movie\, The Diary of Perpetua\, produced by Still Small Theatre Troupe. Set in a modern-day context\, this powerful and moving drama follows Perpetua and a small band of Christians as they struggle with the ultimatum presented by the authorities. What internal pain wracked those forced to choose? What will be their fate? Will their families accept their choices\, or will they die alienated from family\, friends\, and society because of their choices? \nThe movie premieres on Sunday\, April 10 at 2:00 pm on the campus of Gordon College\, at 255 Grapevine Road\, Wenham\, MA in the MacDonald auditorium of the Ken Olsen Science Center. \nTickets are now on sale at the Still Small Theatre Troupe Website at stillsmalltheatre.com. Regular admission is $15. Student admission is $10. \nThe troupe also has available a special VIP experience that includes a private catered dessert\, priority seating\, private Q&A with cast and crew\, acknowledgement by name at the event\, and some surprise gifts! Tickets for the VIP experience are limited and must be purchased in advance for $100 per ticket. \nLed by Jasmine Myers\, the Still Small Theatre Troupe is a local performing arts group. Gathering actors from around the country for the Perpetua project the Still Small Theatre Troupe adapted the Perpetua movie from an original play by the same name in response to live performance restrictions due to Covid-19 protocols. The Troupe has performed plays live in many places\, from prisons and parks to churches and corporate functions. To learn more about the Troupe\, or to learn how you may be able to access their repertoire for your local church or group\, email to StillSmallTheatre@gmail.com or visit the website\, stillsmalltheatre.com.

SUMMARY:The Micah Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Micah Conference is an annual 4 day student-led conference for youth and educators to explore the Christian integration of faith\, leadership\, and social justice. The goal of our conference is to help raise up the next generation of youth to be not only knowledgeable of social injustice issues\, but also to be equipped to recognize them and work towards social justice in a restorative manner. Boston Trinity Academy runs a resource center named The Trinity Institute for Leadership and Social Justice with the goal of inspiring students to take leadership and to fight for social justice both locally and around the world. We have been empowered as students to recognize the part that we can play in combating injustice. The Micah Conference\, now in its sixth year\, is our way of sharing this passion with other students around the nation by inviting them to learn and to contribute in the journey towards leadership and social justice. This conference acts on the instructions found in Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you\, O mortal\, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”   \nOur conference features a variety of workshops\, facilitated discussions\, keynote addresses\, and even a day of hands-on work and learning opportunities in the city\, partnering with local justice-focused organizations. The conference will run for two full days\, with a half day on either end.  Tuesday June 26th\, will feature a variety of workshops\, facilitated discussions\, and keynote addresses. On Wednesday June 27th\, we will spend the majority of the day in Boston\, partnering with local justice-focused organizations before a debrief and an evening session. Our desire for the youth who attend our conference is that they are inspired by the devoted lives of our speakers and challenged to reach their potential as leaders in their communities. We are asking speakers to share the story of their fight against injustice\, specifically as people of faith. \n

SUMMARY:World Relief Basic Immigration Law Training
DESCRIPTION:World Relief is pleased to offer an intensive\, 40 hour immigration law training in partnership with Gordon College.  The training will be conducted using the curriculum of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC). This course will help to provide the necessary training component for individuals who wish to apply for accreditation from the Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ recognition and accreditation allows non-attorneys working at non-profit organizations to practice immigration law.  The course will touch on all areas of immigration law and practice focusing on topics most relevant to those serving and representing low-income immigrants. \nWHEN: June 5 – 9\, 2017 \nWHERE: The training will take place at the Gordon College located at 255 Grapevine Road\, Wenham\, MA 01984. \n Due to the requirements of the recognition and accreditation application process\, we recommend that only individuals with U.S. citizenship\, lawful permanent residence\, or other long-term immigration presence (including DACA) apply for this training. \n Additional requirements for applying for Department of Justice (DOJ) recognition and accreditation will be discussed during the training week. Participants who pass the take-home test will receive a certificate of completion from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)\, the authors of the training curriculum. This will help participants in the process of obtaining DOJ accreditation. \n For more information and registration: http://wrgordoncollegetraining.eventzilla.net   \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Sarah Bankard at sbankard@wr.org.
