SUMMARY:UniteBoston’s Annual Fundraising Celebration & Community Gathering
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to UniteBoston’s Fundraising Celebration and Community Gathering on Friday\, May 29 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at the Bruce C. Bolling Building in Roxbury. This will be an evening of celebration with food\, joy\, and an opportunity to partner with us in our bridge-building work across Greater Boston. \nOur theme this year is “Illuminate.” In a time when division and uncertainty can feel heavy\, we believe Christ calls us to shine (Mt 5:16)—bringing light to hard places\, clarity to confusion\, and hope to weary hearts. At UniteBoston\, we are committed to equipping Christians to be peacemakers and bridge-builders—agents of unity\, reconciliation\, justice\, and repair. Illuminate reflects our prayer that the Church would not hide its light but embody it boldly and beautifully for the good of our city. Here is our Fundraising Letter \nThis year’s keynote speaker is Rozella Haydée White\, a public theologian and “Love Big” coach. Dedicated to nurturing a love that is life-giving\, justice-seeking\, and restorative\, she has authored a book entitled Love Big: The Power of Revolutionary Relationships to Heal the World. \nRozella’s work deeply aligns with UniteBoston’s mission to heal divisions and strengthen the Church’s collective witness. Over the past year\, she has also played a vital role behind the scenes\, working directly with Rev. Kelly and Rev. Devlin as a coach for a capacity-building grant initiative. We are thrilled to have her voice guide us faithfully illuminating the gospel and bearing witness to Christ’s reconciling work in our beloved city. \n \nThe evening will also include a conversation with Rev. Kelly and Rev. Devlin\, stories of impact from our UniteBoston community\, and creative expressions that reflect the heart of this year’s theme\, including: \n\nConvene: The Power of Collaborative Conversations for City-Wide Gospel Movement by Rev. Melinda Priest\nTestimony about Beloved Community Lab by Rev. Gina Tillotson-Cordy\nPoems on “Illuminate” by Bill Ivanov and Dzidzor Azalgo\nClosing Song led by Rev. Devlin Scott\n\nJoin us to connect with friends old and new—and to discover how you can participate in God’s reconciling\, restoring\, peacebuilding work through UniteBoston. \nWe’re excited to offer FREE childcare during the event\, provided by safe and vetted volunteers. Children do not need a ticket to the event\, but advance registration is required. \nThis gathering will take place at the Bruce Bolling Municipal Building in Nubian Square\, 2300 Washington St\, Roxbury\, MA 02119. Local parking lots include the large City of Boston Municipal Parking Lot #33 around the corner of the building. \nWe can’t wait to gather\, celebrate\, and shine together.  REGISTER BELOW \nTicket Options:\n\nGeneral Admission: $50\nStudent Admission: $25\nVolunteers: Free (Register Here)\n\n \nOur Goal: Raising $40\,000\nYour generous contributions will directly support our efforts to fortify Christian unity in Boston through strategic planning\, staff and consultant support\, and partnerships with local ministries. \nThank you for partnering with us to God’s work towards reconciliation\, justice\, and peacemaking in our city. SUMMARY:United Gospel Experience Tour
DESCRIPTION:Our finale concert for the 2025-2026 United Gospel Experience Tour will be on Saturday April 18 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Morningstar Baptist Church\, 1257 Blue Hill Ave\, Mattapan\, MA 02126. \nCentered on the theme “Come together\, stay together\, worship together” (Mt. 18:20)\, the tour centers on Jesus’ promise that “where two or three gather in my name\, there am I with them.” In these challenging times\, our prayer is that\, through this united worship\, God’s Spirit will move mightily to bring healing\, reconciliation\, and new life. We’ve discovered that when students from across New England join their voices in one choir\, gospel music rises as a powerful proclamation of hope and freedom. \nPlease help us spread the word by spreading the word to local pastors and congregations through our invite letter!  \nClick here to read the story behind this year’s tour and how you can be part of it. And don’t miss this documentary of highlights and testimonies from last year’s gospel experience tour! \n  \n

This is an evening of celebration with food\, fun\, and an opportunity to partner with us in our bridge-building work. \nOur team has chosen the theme of “fortify” for this season of UniteBoston\, as it is a pivotal moment for Christians to fortify the foundation that we are standing on. DESCRIPTION:Join us as our Boston Sankofa Journey members reflect on nine months of exploring Boston’s historical landmarks tied to the legacy of slavery\, the Black freedom movement\, and the role of churches in both supporting and resisting slavery. Through personal stories and creative storytelling\, they will share transformative moments and how they are carrying these experiences forward.\n\nThis event invites you to engage in a journey of truth-telling\, healing\, and justice\, connecting our narratives to Boston’s local history. Recognizing that many other leaders are engaged in similar work within their institutions\, we’ll also open a dialogue on how we might strengthen the collective movement toward racial equity\, justice and repair in our city. \nThis gathering will take place at the Historic Myrtle Baptist Church\, a hub for social justice and civil rights advocacy and a cornerstone of Newton’s African American community. You are welcome to come early to explore the physical displays where they have catalogued their history. \nSankofa\, a Ghanaian term meaning “to learn from the past to inform the future\,” inspires this journey. Come listen\, share\, and be part of this meaningful conversation and action-taking at this influential moment in our city and country. \n\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Legacy of Slavery at Harvard University tour
DESCRIPTION:“If you abide in my word\, you are truly my disciples\, and you will know the truth\, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) \n\n\n\n\n“VERITAS” – Harvard’s motto “Truth” inscribed on gates\, doorways\, and sculptures all over campus \n\n\n\nJoin UniteBoston’s Sankofa cohort for Legacy of Slavery at Harvard University tour\, which uncovers the truth of Harvard University’s entanglements with the institution of slavery through a 10-stop tour. The stops on the tour provide an opportunity to learn about a part of Harvard’s history that has long been hidden in plain sight. In addition\, the tour elevates stories of Black women and men whose resistance and leadership have shaped the University—and our nation. \n\n\n\nThe tour will be led by Rev. Rita Powell\, director of the Episcopal Chaplaincy at Harvard University. We will take special note of the way Christian congregations and churches have contributed or resisted the institution of slavery\, and the repair work that is taking place today. The tour will go from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the Harvard-Episcopal chaplaincy building\, 1A Garden Street\, Cambridge MA 02138\, and will conclude with a time of refreshments from 4:30 to 5:00pm in the same location. \nFrom Megan Lietz\, director of the Race & Christian Community Initiative and Sankofa group member: “Boston is known for its world-class colleges and universities. But many of these institutions were built on the backs of enslaved people. Take the time to better understand how our city’s academic success has been shaped by the institution of slavery through a history of slavery at Harvard tour.” \n\nClick Here to Register\n\nP.S. If you’re not able to make it on this date and time\, the tour can also be experienced online here and there are many other resources regarding Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery \n\n\n\nP.P.S. Curious what the tour is like? Dr. Michael James\, a previous UniteBoston cohort member\, has written a blog sharing his experience in the walking tour about how it nurtured love and a shared humanity. \n
