SUMMARY:Micah Service Learning Experience
DESCRIPTION:Over the course of two days (Saturday night and all day Sunday) through a range of immersive experiences in Greater Boston\, we will tie together the three elements of the famous passage – doing justice\, loving mercy\, and walking humbly with God. \nContextual Serving: Participants will respond directly to the needs of one or more of our organizational partners who serve communities struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. \nTransformational Learning: Participants will engage with foundational principles of generosity and justice as described in scripture and will gain practical knowledge about justice issues in the greater Boston area and the organizations working with affected communities.  \nSpiritual Equipping: Participants will be asked to process their service and learning experience in community by engaging in worship\, prayer\, and reflection that will help them to sustain ongoing transformation and commitment to action beyond our time together.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first book group of 2026!. We will be reading Sabbath as Resistance by Walter Brueggemann. The Sabbath is not simply about keeping rules but rather about becoming a whole person and restoring a whole society. The author calls out our 24/7 society of consumption\, a society in which we live to achieve\, accomplish\, perform\, and possess. We want more\, own more\, use more\, eat more\, and drink more. This book will help us to consider how keeping the Sabbath allows us to break this restless cycle and focus on what is truly important. \nThis is a 4 week online group that meets via Zoom from 7:30-9 Wednesday nights. June Cooper \nJoin us for an immersive walking tour exploring Boston’s history through the lens of The Green Book\, the essential travel guide for Black motorists during the Jim Crow era. Published from 1936 to 1967\, The Green Book identified businesses and establishments that welcomed African American travelers\, ensuring their safety in a segregated America. \nLed by Rev. June Cooper\, a Social Justice Educator\, Activist\, and Theologian\, this tour will highlight 8-10 historical sites in the South End and Lower Roxbury that appeared in The Green Book between 1935-1969. Participants will gain deeper insights into Boston’s Black history\, the resilience of its communities\, and the significance of these spaces in the fight for racial justice. \nEvent Highlights\n\nGuided walking tour featuring key Boston locations listed in The Green Book.\nA bibliography of recommended readings and videos provided before the tour.\nReproductions of The Green Book (selected years) available for sale.\nTour led by Rev.
