SUMMARY:The Diary of Perpetua Premiere Screening
DESCRIPTION:A young woman from northern Africa was given a choice:\n“Renounce Jesus\, or be killed.”\nWhile this theme could have been torn from today’s headlines in too many places\, this true story\, written by the hand of Vibia Perpetua\, was recorded in 203 AD. One of the earliest known writings by a woman\, Perpetua writes about her journey in which she must decide whether what she believes\, and ultimately who she is\, is worth the loss of family\, children\, the chance to live in peace\, and even her very life. \nPerpetua’s struggle is brought to life in a new movie\, The Diary of Perpetua\, produced by Still Small Theatre Troupe. Set in a modern-day context\, this powerful and moving drama follows Perpetua and a small band of Christians as they struggle with the ultimatum presented by the authorities. What internal pain wracked those forced to choose? What will be their fate? Will their families accept their choices\, or will they die alienated from family\, friends\, and society because of their choices? \nThe movie premieres on Sunday\, April 10 at 2:00 pm on the campus of Gordon College\, at 255 Grapevine Road\, Wenham\, MA in the MacDonald auditorium of the Ken Olsen Science Center. \nTickets are now on sale at the Still Small Theatre Troupe Website at stillsmalltheatre.com. Regular admission is $15. Student admission is $10. \nThe troupe also has available a special VIP experience that includes a private catered dessert\, priority seating\, private Q&A with cast and crew\, acknowledgement by name at the event\, and some surprise gifts! Tickets for the VIP experience are limited and must be purchased in advance for $100 per ticket. \nLed by Jasmine Myers\, the Still Small Theatre Troupe is a local performing arts group. Gathering actors from around the country for the Perpetua project the Still Small Theatre Troupe adapted the Perpetua movie from an original play by the same name in response to live performance restrictions due to Covid-19 protocols. The Troupe has performed plays live in many places\, from prisons and parks to churches and corporate functions. To learn more about the Troupe\, or to learn how you may be able to access their repertoire for your local church or group\, email to StillSmallTheatre@gmail.com or visit the website\, stillsmalltheatre.com.

SUMMARY:All Ethnicities Needed for Christian Film
DESCRIPTION:Still Small Theatre is currently casting for a film adaptation of the musical The Diary of Perpetua\, which tells the story of an early North African martyr. We will be shooting the film in modern dress to help raise awareness about the modern persecuted Church\, and we are intentionally building a cast that reflects the face of modern persecution. \nWe are particularly in need of Indian\, Asian\, Black\, Pacific Islander\, and Middle Eastern actors to help us portray the high levels of persecution experienced in many regions of Asia\, Africa\, the Middle East\, and the Indian subcontinent\, but we are also seeking actors of all ethnicities who want to help us tell this story of the global Church. Actors of all experience levels are welcome; there are roles open for principal cast\, supporting cast\, and extras. \nFull information is on our website at https://www.stillsmalltheatre.com/auditions.html — we hope to see you in our inbox!

SUMMARY:The Prophet Project (online)
DESCRIPTION:Still Small Theatre presents The Prophet Project\, a play about the timeless story of God’s love for the world\, told through the timely words of the ancient Hebrew prophets. \nOn September 18th\, join a virtual watch party of the show (filmed summer 2019) and live Q&A with some of the artists involved! The event will be held on YouTube Live\, and the show will be available streaming on YouTube until October 3rd. \nInspired by the Biblical story of the prophet Hosea and his wife Gomer\, The Prophet Project weaves together the words of the Biblical prophets along with movement\, music\, and more  to tell the story of God’s enduring love for Israel\, and for all of humanity. Due to some of the mature themes of Scripture\, The Prophet Project is not recommended for young children. But for adults\, teens\, and mature middle schoolers\, it is a thought-provoking reflection and conversation starter on the themes of sin\, idolatry\, injustice\, redemption\, and how Christians can continue to reveal the heart of God to a broken world. \nThis watch party kicks off Still Small’s new Virtual Performance Packages\, which allow churches to book an entirely virtual event — complete with play\, Q&A with cast\, and 6-part video Bible study series! Packages become available November 1.\nSee www.stillsmalltheatre.com for more information!

SUMMARY:The Prophet Project
DESCRIPTION:The Prophet Project – a play in one act  \n\n\nFollowing the storyline of Hosea and Gomer\, and using only the words of the ancient Hebrew prophets\, The Prophet Project is a visceral\, beautiful retelling of God’s relentless love for humanity. Challenging and encouraging\, disturbing and inspiring\, it is an unique opportunity to grow in one’s own faith\, as well as to invite non-Christian lovers of art\, and to help Jewish friends see echoes of Christ in Scripture.\n\nThe 2013 production was awarded with the Making a Difference in Christian Service Award and the Eldin Villafañe Award for High Distinction in Christian Service\, both from Gordon Conwell’s Boston Campus. Still Small is now reviving the production with a new cast\, additional music\, and updated design.\n\n\n\n\n\nAll performances will be followed by an optional talkback in which the audience can ask questions and have an informal discussion with the cast and creative team.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAugust 9\, 10\, 16\, & 17\n7 pm shows each night\, additional 3 pm matinee on Saturdays. \nEast Baptist Church\n300 Western Ave\nLYNN\, MA

SUMMARY:Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare
DESCRIPTION:Still Small Theatre returns with one of Shakespeare’s boldest plays.\nStill Small Theatre is a Christian ministry that produces high quality theater that helps people hear and see the heart of God. \nMeasure for Measure tells the story of a duke struggling to restore justice to a broken society\, a strict judge encountering his own depravity\, and a novice nun pleading for the life of her incarcerated brother. Along the way it asks challenging questions about justice\, mercy\, power\, and why we frequently leave appearances unquestioned. \nBecause of these and other themes\, we are partnering with local agencies to raise awareness and funds to combat domestic violence. Feel free to join us afterwards for an informal discussion with the cast about Shakespeare\, violence\, faith\, or whatever the play brings to mind. Information will also be available from local agencies about their services and volunteer opportunities\, and resources will also be available regarding how to respond as a faith community. \nAdmission is “pay what you can” with a suggested donation range of $12-18 general admission and $5-7 student/senior. Donations will support the work of Still Small as well as that of local domestic violence agencies. \nPerformances:\nFriday\, May 19th\, 7 pm : Pilgrim Church\n300 Cabot St.\, Beverly MA (driving directions) \nSaturday\, May 20th\, 7 pm : College Church\n58 Pomeroy Terrace\, Northampton MA (driving directions) \nSunday\, May 21st\, 4 pm : St. Stephen Orthodox Church (hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church)\n400 Wilbraham Rd.\, Springfield MA (driving directions) \nThursday\, May 25th\, 7:30 pm : Old West Church UMC\n131 Cambridge St.\, Boston MA (directions) \nSaturday\, May 27th\, 2 pm : Derby Sq. (by the steps of Old Town Hall)\n32 Derby Sq.\, Salem MA (approx. map location) (parking) \nTrigger Warning: This play deals with difficult subject matter and may be triggering for survivors of abuse or assault.
