DESCRIPTION:Theology on Tap returns May 2 at a new bar — Clery’s Pub in the Back Bay!  \nOur theme “After Christendom” continues with R.R. Reno\, editor of First Things magazine. Reno was a longtime professor of theology at Creighton University\, and he is the author of numerous books\, including most recently Resurrecting the Idea of a Christian Society.  \nIn Resurrecting the Idea of a Christian Society\, Prof. Reno argues that America needs a renewal of Christian ideals—ideals that encourage self-sacrifice\, responsibility\, and solidarity. Drawing on T.S. Eliot’s 1940 essay “The Idea of a Christian Society\,” Reno shows how Christianity encourages “an abiding ambition for higher things” and a “moral vision” that can strengthen communities and transform America into a truly great nation.  \nJoin us at 7 pm on May 2nd at Clery’s Pub\, 113 Dartmouth St.\, near the Back Bay Station. Please note that this is a new location for our meeting\, as the Rattlesnake Bar is\, sadly\, no more. DESCRIPTION:On Palm Sunday\, April 9\, join us at the Church of the Advent on Beacon Hill at 8p for the liturgy of Compline\, preceded by Lucernarium\, an evening service of sacred lamp-lighting. This liturgy of prayer before bed in the custom of early Christian monasticism\, with its very ancient roots\, is a wonderful way to end the weekend prayerfully and ready oneself for the coming week. And what could be a better time than the beginning of Holy Week to try on a new spiritual discipline? \nJoin us to mark deepest Lent with vigilance and reverence\, as well as to expand your habit of practicing daily prayer.
