SUMMARY:Sundance Award Winning Documentary BEYOND UTOPIA
DESCRIPTION:Sundance audience award-winning BEYOND UTOPIA is a powerful documentary of a South Korean pastor working with an underground network to help defectors escape from the horrific regime in North Korea. Made up primarily of first-hand iPhone footage\, the film follows two families as they make the treacherous journey to freedom. Watch the trailer  here. \nThe film is screening next Monday and Tuesday\, October 23-24 at theaters throughout greater Boston. Our prayer is that as many people would not only watch the film\, but see it with their faith groups and friends to be able to process and respond together. To that end\, we have created a FREE Faith Discussion Guide for everyone.\nPlease go to the Fathom website to watch the trailer and to buy tickets for this special two-day only event!

SUMMARY:Covid-19 Faith in the Vaccine Student Ambassador Program
DESCRIPTION:The Hebrew College Miller Center for Interreligious Learning is proud to announce that we will be joining IFYC’s National Student Effort to increase access and trust in the vaccine. In partnership with Turn In. Reach Out.\, We Got Us and The Black Boston Covid-19 Coalition\, we will be coordinating and leading the Covid-19 Faith in the Vaccine Student Ambassador Program targeted towards increasing vaccine access and trust in Boston area communities.  \nOur goal is to compensate community members for investing time and energy into the frontlines work of building the movement towards equity and healing amidst Covid-19. The Faith in the Vaccine initiative incentivizes 28 Students to work as Vaccine Ambassadors\, getting paid $15.00 – $17.50 an hour to contribute 100 hours to work on the effort to get folks vaccinated. Our team includes Boston area nonprofits and coalitions like We Got Us and the Black Boston Covid-19 Coalition that are able to lead our cohort from their position at the front lines of this work. \nThis pandemic has reminded us that no one is safe until everyone is safe. Closing the wound from this pandemic requires that a critical number of us get vaccinated in order to reach herd immunity. We must lift one another up in this journey and encourage one another along this road. The Faith in the Vaccine Student Ambassador program provides supportive structure and scaffolding for Student Ambassadors to make the connections and have the conversations that result in getting more shots into people’s arms. \nHigh-Schoolers\, undergraduates\, graduate students and recent graduates are all eligible to apply. Members of the local Boston community that are already invested in this type of work as a volunteer are highly encouraged to apply. SUMMARY:Lazarus at the Gate Groups Launching!
DESCRIPTION:The Boston Faith & Justice Network is launching a new version of Lazarus at the Gate October 1st! \nLazarus at the Gate is a unique and transformational eight-week Bible study designed to challenge small groups to understand the Biblical foundation for generosity\, simple living and just spending habits.  Taken straightforwardly\, Scriptural teachings on wealth are enormously challenging to American consumer culture with its emphasis on immediate gratification\, tolerance of vast inequalities\, and promotion of anxiety. In this respect\, the Bible offers readers an alternative vision of prosperity and Lazarus helps participants understand and live this vision.   \nYou can download this free curriculum from our website to start a Lazarus group in your church or other faith community or if you would like to connect with us about joining one of the Lazarus groups starting up this fall e-mail elizabeth@bostonfaithjustice.  We’d love to connect you!

SUMMARY:Justice Week at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited for Justice Week at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary from March 19-23!  This year\, our vision draws from Jesus’ own prayer in Matthew 6.  The person of Christ reminds us that God’s kingdom justice has taken on flesh and beckons us to live in His example as we cry: “Your will being done on earth.” Each day’s scheduling will center upon a different verse of the Lord’s Prayer\, from seeking our “daily bread” to His “kingdom come.” Our prayer is that through collective lament\, worship and service\, we would become a united presence and image of His embodied justice to the Northshore and Boston community in the here-and-now. \nThough Justice Week is only five days\, we anticipate that it will launch us into a proactive and enduring response to God’s will and heart for justice.  At the same time\, may we also be called to a heart of rest and celebration in the truth that the final work and word of justice is His. \nYou are invited to join us on our main campus in South Hamilton as we explore the power of prayer in the work of justice using the Lord’s Prayer as a framework.
