DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Rita Powell (Episcopal Chaplain\, Harvard) has written a play\, inspired by the writing of early Christian theologian Evagrius. We Say Various Things About Sleep will be presented outdoors (in Cambridge and in Fitchburg)\, with live music\, on August 23\, 24 and 25. \nHow does the body experience the spiritual? Do we know our own souls? How do we encounter the divine: through music\, text\, movement\, nature? Evagrius was transformed by his time spent in reflection in the wilderness; we seek our own miniature transformations\, spending an evening together in nature and art. \nEnjoy a New England summer evening with theatre and music! Please do come early and bring a picnic. (Also\, bring something to sit on! If you’re joining us in Cambridge\, bring a picnic blanket or a folding chair. SUMMARY:Ecumenical Spring Celebration - March 16\, Saturday
DESCRIPTION:At the request of local pastoral leaders and in faithful response to Jesus’ prayer “that all of them may be one” (John 17:21)\, Kinship Farm occasionally supports events where Christians throughout the North Shore and beyond can come together to share in the beauty of nature and fellowship. \nJoin us on Saturday\, March 16! The centerpiece will be an outdoor\, hour-long ecumenical Christian worship service. For an hour beforehand and afterward\, participants may peacefully and contemplatively walk along woodland trails\, and occasionally stop to engage with displays offered by Christians from a variety of denominations. Displays may include scripture and other text\, music\, art\, woodworking\, and other creative\, interactive\, youth-friendly displays about spirituality that is informed by Christ Jesus and that promotes healthy relationships and/or celebrates the natural outdoor setting. \nThe worship service and displays will be suitable for youth\, teens\, and adults and general registration is free. The event will be held in South Hamilton\, MA. Displays will be staffed from 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m. and the worship ceremony will run from 2-3 p.m. We regret and apologize that the trails\, tents\, and worship service will not be equipped with facilities or features to ensure full accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. \nTo host a booth\, churches will need to fill out an application form by February 26 and pay a modest commitment fee of $30. In return\, on the day of the event\, a basic tent and table will be set up for them and they will need to bring whatever additional materials they need to respectfully present their message. If you know of a church who might like to participate in the planning of the worship service or to host a booth\, please forward this information to them. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe General Registration deadline is March 6. Click on the blue button on our website page to register. The application for displays can also be found on the same webpage. \nPlease direct all question\, ideas\, and desire about this celebration to info@kinshipfarm.org. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout our Demonstration Application and requirements:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOutdoor interactive tented booth spaces are limited and are on a first come basis. We are asking for a $30 commitment fee along with your completed ‘Display Application’ form to secure your space. The $30 commitment fee is a small contribution towards the broader expenses associated with furnishing you a tent and table. \nWe appreciate your cooperation with the application process and kindly ask you to submit your completed Display Application and $30 commitment fee by February 24\, 2024 to reserve your tented booth space.

Tom Ryan of the Paulist Center will deliver remarks on Pope Francis’ encyclical\, Fratelli Tutti\, reflecting on how we can all live out the call to fraternity\, social friendship\, and solidarity. We could not think of a more fitting way to begin the new year. Father Tom Ryan is also a member of the UniteBoston Board of Directors. Responding to him will be Boston Islamic Seminary President Dr. Basyouny Nehela and others to be announced. Audience Q&A will follow the presentations. \n  \nBorn and raised in southern Minnesota\, Fr. Tom Ryan did his graduate studies in theology at the Washington (D.C.) Theological Union and the University of Geneva. He was ordained a Paulist in 1975\, and served in campus ministry at the Ohio State University (Columbus) and at McGill University (Montreal\, QC.)\, prior to directing the Montreal-based Canadian Centre for Ecumenism for 14 years and working in all ten provinces of Canada. Perceiving the need for places where Christians of different traditions could gather to share faith and life with each other as well as with members of other religions\, he spearheaded the founding of Unitas in Montreal\, an ecumenical center for spirituality and Christian meditation co-sponsored by eight different denominations. He served as its director for five years prior to answering the call of his community in January of 2000 to set up and develop the Paulist Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations. \n  \nDr. Basyouny Nehela holds an M.A. in Fundamentals of Religion\, and a Ph.D. with Honors in Da’wa and Islamic Culture\, both from Al-Azhar University. He is currently the Dean of Academic Affairs and professor at Boston Islamic Seminary. Dr. Basyouny was previously an Associate professor at Qatar University’s Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies\, Department of Islamic Creed and Da’wa\, a faculty member at Al-Azhar University and Islamic American University\, and Imam of the Islamic Society of Boston. He has also served as head\, and coordinator of many academic committees covering Curriculum Enhancement\, Core Curriculum\, Strategic Plan\, Academic Activities and Events\, & Professional Development. SUMMARY:Symposium: Traditional Biblical Sexuality in a Changing Youth Culture
DESCRIPTION:As debates about human sexuality dominate classrooms\, coffee shops\, and social media\, youth ministers committed to a traditional Biblical ethic may struggle to find their voice. Some may wonder if there is a safe space in which to form a theologically informed and nuanced approach to these charged and complex issues. \nJoin Dr. Walt Mueller of the Center for Parent Youth Understanding and Dr. Duffy Robbins of Grove City College for an intensive multi-day symposium to deepen your own Biblical and theological foundations\, to broaden your apologetic for affirming the goodness of expressing sexual intimacy within the bonds of marriage between a man and a woman\, and to strengthen your pastoral skills in helping youth live out these truths. \nThis Symposium presumes participants’ affirmation of a historic\, orthodox Christian sexual ethic and will be building from this premise\, not debating it. Participation is limited to 25 to allow for deep exploration of these issues and will require some preparatory work and active involvement in the Symposium.
