We believe one of the ways forward is through listening. But not just any listening\, true contemplative & transformational listening that builds change & community. 10 years ago\, we created our Transformational Listening: Soul Care Companions course with this in mind. Today it holds up to the test of time. Listening to God & one another makes a lasting difference. We can be contemplatives in action creating change in our inner lives with Christ & in our communities as we love one another. DESCRIPTION:Music is often called “the universal language” but digging deeper\, we can see how music helps us communicate values\, deeply felt needs\, complex feelings\, and core identities. At church\, when we sing\, sing a certain way\, fund and defund singing\, or argue about singing\, we’re conveying something about who we are or want to be. \nIn this presentation\, Dr. Carolynne Hitter Brown will share her research on ways the Black Church has historically relied on music to navigate challenging waters and changing courses\, resist racist forces without and power structures within\, and formulate an authentic and Christ-centered community identity. DESCRIPTION:Typically\, a semi-truck bringing food into Boston isn’t a reason to gather\, but there’s a special truckload of food being brought in on Friday\, April 10th\, at 9:00am.  A tractor-trailer full of non-perishable food will arrive at WORK Inc. (25 Beach Street\, Dorchester) as a large-scale donation to the Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry\, as part of Boston and the Bay State’s America250 commemoration. \nWe’d love you to join us in greeting the first of 3 America250 trucks coming to Massachusetts in 2026.  These specially designated America250 semi-trucks\, organized via JustServe.org\, by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints\, are a celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday and our national and local values of serving our communities.  Please stop by WORK Inc.’s facility at 25 Beach Street on the morning of April 10th and join us in celebrating community service in Boston!
