SUMMARY:Book Talk: You Only Get What You're Organized to Take: Lessons From the Movement to End Poverty
DESCRIPTION:Hello UniteBoston friends and colleagues\, \n\nDevlin and I are excited to invite you to a special gathering of leaders as part of the National Book Tour Stop in Massachusetts for the new release:\nYou Only Get What You’re Organized to Take: Lessons from the Movement to End Poverty\nby Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis and Noam Sandweiss-Back of the Kairos Center  \nClick here to watch the promo video\n Learn more about the book \nThis is more than a book tour—it’s an interfaith movement that aims to strengthen community-led movements for housing\, food\, wages\, water\, land\, immigrant rights\, peace\, belonging\, and more. \nJesus said that he came to set the oppressed free (Lk 4:18) – As Christian leaders\, we are called to be part of this moral and spiritual awakening—to organize from the ground up\, led by those most impacted\, and loving the ‘least of these’ (Mt 25:40) as rooted in the prophetic call for economic justice and human dignity. \nWe believe this is a kairos moment—a Spirit-led opportunity to build relationships\, deepen shared commitments\, and explore how the Christian community\, alongside our interfaith partners\, can actively support and lead in this movement for justice and survival. \n\nEvent Details – Two Opportunities to Join Us\n Faith Partners Lunch + Strategy Session\nThursday\, May 29 | 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM\nThe Cathedral Church of St. Paul\, 138 Tremont St\, Boston\, MA\nRSVP Here for Lunch Session \nBook Talk & Public Dialogue\nThursday\, May 29 | 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM\nThe Cathedral Church of St. Paul\, Boston \nRSVP Here for Public Session \n\nThis gathering is hosted by a coalition of faith and justice leaders\, including UniteBoston\, the Massachusetts Poor People’s Campaign\, Massachusetts Union of the Homeless\, MAPPC Episcopal Network\, Mass Peace Movements\, Rep. Mike Connolly\, Nonviolent Medicaid Army\, and more. \nAs Rev. Theoharis reminds us\, this work is not optional—it’s a matter of survival for so many of our brothers and sisters. We invite you to join us in dreaming\, discerning\, and building together toward a future where all God’s children can thrive. \nIn hope and solidarity\, \n-Rev. Kelly & Rev. Devlin

SUMMARY:OneBoston Praise Concert
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this event is to bring together all children of God around the New England area regardless of Culture\, race\, or ethnicity for a memorable and uplifting  the Name of the Lord as the LORD commanded. We believe that God wants to use this coming together of HIS children not only to bless every individual but also to touch the foundation of this great country (like how he shook the wall of Jericho when the Israelites were praising Him and circling the wall). We are excited about the positive impact OneBoston Praise will have on the community of God’s children.\n\nWe are contacting local church organizations that share similar beliefs and are all about coming together for the purpose of God’s work. We would like every Christian organization and Churches to be part of this mission and also support us with prayer\, financial assistance\, and Guidance in any way for the event. This could include helping with promotion\, or any other form of support that aligns with the church’s mission. We believe that by working together\, we can make OneBoston Praise a truly special occasion that resonates with everyone in our community.\n\nThank You

SUMMARY:Join the Pilot Cohort of the Beloved Community Lab
DESCRIPTION:Monthly on Tuesdays\, 11:00AM–2:00PM | Starts September 16 | $750 Stipend | Application Due August 15 \n – Do you long to be in a community of Boston-based leaders from a variety of Christian traditions and backgrounds? \n – How do we follow Jesus’ call to love our neighbors – and our enemies – without losing our convictions? \n – Do you want to explore how conflict can strengthen our connections to one another instead of fracturing us apart?  \n – Do you long for the Church to be known for what we are for\, rather than what we are against?  \n – Do you desire to be an ambassador of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:20) and want to grow in learning how to lead your community in the peacemaking\, reconciling Way of Jesus?   –  \nIf these questions stir up something inside you\, then the Beloved Community Lab might be for you! \n\nA New Kind of Leadership for our Divided Time \nDespite Jesus’ clear mandate for unity and welcoming all to the table\, churches remain some of the most divided institutions in our society. With over 45\,000 Christian denominations and countless divides over race\, gender\, theology\, and politics\, the Church’s fractured witness stands in stark contrast to Jesus’ prayer that we would be one (John 17). \nA team of diverse Christian leaders in Boston recognized this gap and came together to ask: \nWhat kind of discipleship is needed to form leaders who uphold God’s call for unity and oneness in today’s world? \nThrough prayer\, study\, and listening\, UniteBoston has been on a two-year journey of developing the Beloved Community Lab\, a unique opportunity for Boston-area Christian leaders to come together across lines of difference to learn and practice unity\, justice\, and reconciliation in their leadership contexts. \nWe call this a “lab” because it combines core theological concepts with real-world application through case studies\, interactive exercises\, and spiritual practices. This cohort is a space for spiritual formation—shaping leaders into peacemakers and reconcilers\, growing into the life and way of Jesus.  \nThe things that are keeping us part are deep-rooted: we need a vision of togetherness that doesn’t only lean into our differences but also brings about holistic gospel transformation. If we want to see a different kind of world and a more embodied Christian witness\, we must become different kinds of people. Our pilot Beloved Community Lab cohort is an experiment in Christian unity that seeks to change not just what we know\, but how we live. \n\nDetails  \nWHEN: Tuesdays from 11:00AM–2:00PM\nFORMAT: Monthly gatherings in-person (Greater Boston Area) or Zoom\nSTIPEND: $750 for full participation\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: August 15\, 2025\nWHO SHOULD APPLY:\nChristian leaders in Greater Boston who value unity\, reconciliation\, and justice—and want to grow in living these out. We are seeking to convene a cohort community of stakeholders that come from a wide range of denominational\, theological\, racial/ethnic\, and generational backgrounds to shape the curriculum during its pilot stage. \nClick here to see the Beloved Community Lab Cohort PDF to learn more about the vision\, dates\, core competencies\, and more. We will be choosing 15 pastoral leaders from diverse backgrounds and we do have $750 stipends to honor leaders for their time and participation. \nWe believe there’s no better time than now for Christ followers to prioritize the ministry of reconciliation by engaging well across our deep differences – serving as peacemakers in our fractured world. Today’s algorithms and silos will seek to keep us fractured and divided\, but God calls us to a different way.  \nApply by August 15 to join the Pilot Cohort!  \nWe look forward to learning with you!
