SUMMARY:Churches Praying Together
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Churches Praying Together – an important prayer gathering on Saturday\, February 21\, at 7:00pm at the Symphony Church Office. \n\n\n\n\nThe meeting is organized by a group of pastors who pray together regularly via Zoom and every couple of months in person – and  is led by Barry Kang\, Pastor of Symphony Church. \n\n\n\n\nThe goal of the meeting is to unite God’s people in prayer for a spiritual awakening in Greater Boston.  We all agree on the need for an awakening.  Almost all spiritual awakenings in the past have started in earnest prayer by God’s people.  Thus this is your chance to participate in such a gathering\, and to invite those you know who have such a burden to join in too. \n\n\n\nThere is a small attached lot with limited parking in the evening (Back Bay Mental Health). The best place to find street parking is on Babcock Street (metered parking on the Boston side is free after 8pm\, and the Brookline side has free 2 hour parking). There is also paid parking under New Balance field in the Langsam Garage – $14. \n\n\n\nWe believe these gatherings honor our Lord Jesus as we unite in Him as He prayed in John 17. Hope you can join us!

SUMMARY:He Increase\, I Decrease (Art Gallery)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an unforgettable Black History Month gallery honoring the legacy\, cultural impact\, and enduring presence of Black churches in Cambridge. Hosted by Abundant Life Church\, this evening celebrates the Black church as a cornerstone of spiritual life\, community building\, and artistic expression. Past\, present\, and future. \nInspired by John 3:30 — “He must increase\, and I must decrease” This gallery explores worship as an act of surrender\, a movement that transcends choreography and enters the sacred dialogue between body and spirit. In the Black church\, praise is not only sung but embodied: loud and intimate\, erratic yet fluid\, vulnerable yet unrestrained. \nThrough photography and performance\, He Increase\, I Decrease captures the fleeting\, ineffable expressions of faith where the body becomes both vessel and instrument\, yielding wholly to the presence of God.

SUMMARY:Prophetic Leadership Principles
DESCRIPTION:Greater Boston\, this is a season for depth.\n\nSPL1000: Prophetic Principles is the gateway course of the School of Prophetic Leadership — designed for believers who sense a call to hear clearly\, discern biblically\, and lead with integrity. In a time when voices are loud and clarity is rare\, this course grounds you in Scripture\, spiritual formation\, and tested prophetic foundations.\n\nThis is not hype. This is formation.\n\nOver this journey\, you’ll explore how revelation\, interpretation\, and application work together. You’ll grow in discernment before declaration\, character before commissioning\, and structure before expansion. Whether you serve in church\, marketplace\, intercession\, or culture\, SPL1000 strengthens your spiritual depth and leadership maturity.\n\nIf you’re called to speak\, lead\, or build — but want to be rooted first — this is your next step.\n\nRegistration is open. Join us and build on foundations that last.

SUMMARY:Join with the Sisters of St. Joseph for Taize Prayer & more
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join us on March 19\, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse\, 637 Cambridge Street\, Brighton\, MA for our next Taizé prayer service. We envision this gathering as a way to bring hope to others at this crucial time in our world. \nWe have selected March 19\, 2026\, which is also St. Joseph Day to be in participate with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in what is called\, “100 Days of Prayer\, Fasting\, and Advocacy”. These 100 Days are scheduled from Wednesday\, February 18 (Ash Wednesday) thru Sunday\, June 7\, 2026 (Feast of Corpus Christi). LCWR member congregations have been asked to select a specific day of prayer to address societal challenges through collective\, intentional prayer\, fasting\, and advocacy for justice. \nThe Sisters of St. Joseph believe that prayer matters.  We know that prayer leads us to respond to the needs of the people of God. For generations\, we have fasted from what distracts us from keeping God as our center point. Many of us experience the desire to respond to ever-increasing division with a call to love with hearts of contemplation and action. Recognizing the Gospel call and our values of contemplation intersected with action\, we continue to to deepen our commitment to extended times of silence and prayer while also using our voices to speak truth with courage.

SUMMARY:What is the Context? Athanasius’s Biblical Interpretation
DESCRIPTION:All seminary students and pastors are familiar with the dreaded phrase “out of context.” We all know that we should interpret each biblical passage in light of its historical and literary context\, and a great deal of what we learn in seminary is how to do exactly that. But when we compare our own biblical interpretation with that of the early church\, we find that that theirs seems puzzling and maybe even disturbing. Are the church fathers allegorizing the text inappropriately? Are they taking most passages out of context? \nIn this Dean’s Forum\, we’ll examine one of the most important writings from the early church to try to gain insight on this question. Athanasius is one of the most celebrated early Christian writers\, and he writes against the most famous heretic of all time\, Arius. Furthermore\, Athanasius’s main point is that Arius is interpreting all his favorite biblical passages wrong. What is the interpretive principle that enables Athanasius to be so confident? And what can we learn from his interpretation today? \nThe Dean’s Forum discussion is free and is open to the public. RSVP is required for those who are planning to attend in person. NO RSVP NEEDED IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH ONLINE. Lunch will be provided to those who will be attending in person.

SUMMARY:Solidarity is Sacred: Good Friday Public Worship & Action for Immigration Justice
DESCRIPTION:This Good Friday\, April 3rd at 4PM\, in downtown Boston\, Christians and people of faith will gather in prayer and protest in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.   \nImmigration enforcement tactics have long threatened the safety of our neighbors. But in this moment of authoritarian breakthrough\, state violence is intensifying\, causing fear and outrage in our communities.  \nDuring Holy Week\, Christians remember Jesus’ death as a confrontation with – and triumph over – the powers of evil. Jesus’s crucifixion was God’s ultimate act of solidarity with persecuted people — an act that calls us into radical solidarity with the crucified people of today. Through story\, ritual and song\, we will lament the violence against our immigrant neighbors\, demand the abolition of ICE\, and hear again God’s call to loose the bonds of injustice and set every captive free (Isaiah 58:6).  \nThis initiative is hosted by various organizations devoted to reclaiming the story of Good Friday to stand with our immigrant friends and neighbors. Join us to practice the Stations of the Cross as we seek to be a powerful public witness for Jesus Christ. Read more about the story and theological heartbeat of this initiative here. \nTogether we will pray five of the fourteen stations of the cross: Jesus is condemned to die\, Jesus meets his mother\, Jesus falls for the third time\, Simone of Cyrene helps Jesus carry his cross and Jesus dies on the cross. \nWhile this action is based in the Christian tradition and practice of the stations of the cross\, people of all faiths and no faiths are welcome and encouraged to attend. \nAt a time when the public perception of Christianity is often defined by politics or nationalism\, join us for this opportunity to stand in the public square as a visible witness to Jesus’ heart for the vulnerable and oppressed. \nRSVP here: https://bit.ly/goodfriday2026  \nCommunications toolkit is here \n\nCo-Sponsors: \nMassachusetts Communities Action Network (MCAN)\, MA TPS Committee\, Pax Christi Massachusetts\, Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ (SNEUCC)\, Catholics in Communion\, UniteBoston\, First Church Somerville\, UCC\, Episcopal City Mission and Center for Public Theology & Migration. \n\n\n\n\nArt: Our art team is busy prepping for our upcoming art builds where we’ll make hand signs and large vertical and horizontal banners to communicate our messaging. Please join us by RSVP-ing here and spread the word: \n\n\nArt Build\, Sunday\, March 29th from 6-9PM at First Church Somerville\, 89 College Avenue\, Somerville. \n\n\nArt Build\, Monday\, March 30th from 6-9PM at First Church Somerville\, 89 College Avenue\, Somerville.
