SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn Book Group: The Alternative
DESCRIPTION:Join the Greater Boston Refugee Ministry (GBRM) TEAM at the Emmanuel Gospel Center Boston\, as we share authentic African meals\, and hear success stories of refugee-led change. There are many refugees who chose to leave America and return to their war-ravaged homelands in demonstration of their commitments to bring the Good News\, and lasting peace\, as well as reconciliation and recovery to their people.  For five weeks\, we shall embark on a Safari to read\, discuss and explore the theory and practical aspects of this bold and new approach to changing our world using the book The Alternative. \nIn a refreshing new book\, The Alternative\, the award winning social entrepreneur\, MacArthur Genius Award Recipient and founder of the Family Independence Initiative (www.fii.org)\, Mr. Mauricio L. Miller uses data and empirical evidence\,  to show that leadership and initiatives led by refugees\, homeless\, the poor and marginalized communities are bringing sustainable change and lasting peace to our world! \nIf you are concerned about the rising insecurity in our world\, and why millions of dollars funding social services hasn’t ended poverty in the United States\, this event is for you! \nThis is a five-week book group on Tuesdays during lunch\, which will extend through June 29th. This event is free; to RSVP text: 8572499983 or email Torli Krua: tkrua@egc.org \n*Note that you have to provide your own copy of the book The Alternative \nSponsors: \nQueen Esther’s African Foods & Fashion \n

SUMMARY:Book Signing Event
DESCRIPTION:Dr. James Sideras\, author of the newly published book\, “101 Good Reasons to Believe\,” is holding a book signing event in the Greater Boston area. With guns blazing in this masterly work\, Dr. James confounds the anti-biblical viewpoint that is expounded as truth in the majority of present-day academic institutions and media sources. Backed with scientific evidence and historical facts\, his book provides a comprehensive case for Christianity that challenges us to believe in the unchanging God of the Bible. \nDr. James will be present at the event to personally sign each purchased book. Some free gifts will be available on the day on a first come first serve basis. All are welcome.

MacNutt is the president of Christian Healing Ministries located in Jacksonville\, FL. At a young age Judith began to experience a deep desire to help others\, which led her to earn a Master’s degree in psychology at Eastern Kentucky University. Upon graduation\, Judith worked as a clinical psychologist in Boston and later opened a House of Prayer in Jerusalem. It was during these experiences that Judith came to believe that psychological therapy alone was inadequate to meet the needs of suffering people and that because all people suffer in similar ways they need God’s healing touch if they are to be made whole. In 1977\, Judith moved to Clearwater\, Florida\, and opened a private counseling practice. In 1980\, she married Francis and they opened Christian Healing Ministries together. \nJudith has dedicated her life to helping those bound by hurt\, pain and trauma\, that they may find freedom and wholeness through inner healing prayer. Judith and Francis have co-authored Praying for Your Unborn Child and Judith authored Angels Are For Real in 2012. Find out more about Judith and Christian Healing Ministries here: christianhealingmin.org! \nMike Evans: \nMike Evans is the Founder and Director of Wholeness Ministries located in Bakersfield\, CA. With a Master’s degree in Christian Education Mike was an associate pastor from 1976 to 1994 at Bakersfield Christian Life Center. In 1989 Mike founded Wholeness Ministries which became it’s own nonprofit organization in 1994. Since then this ministry has had a broad cross denominational and cross culture purpose of training and equipping believers to effectively minister to those in need of healing in the physical\, emotional and spiritual areas of their lives. Mike and his team have ministered healing in Kuwait\, Qatar\, N.Ireland\, England\, Puerto Rico\, Hungary\, Romania\, India\, Korea and extensively throughout the United States.. \nMike is the author of two books: Learning to Do What Jesus Did\, which is used worldwide for training prayer teams and Why Not Waste Time with God? which explores our deep need to build an intimate relationship with our Creator in the same way we would build any other relationship – through spending quality time together. SUMMARY:Let's Talk Evangelism: UniteBoston Community Forum
DESCRIPTION:What is contributing to churches that are growing in Boston? How do we invite our neighbors\, colleagues\, and friends into the good news found in Jesus? \nIf you’ve ever considered these questions\, please join us for a community discussion on effective and loving practices for sharing the gospel in our communities. The goal is to share our experiences\, explore existing evangelism models\, and consider together how to both share the good news and accompany people on a life-long discipleship journey of following Jesus. \nThe second community dinner will meet on Sunday May 20th from 6:30 to 8:30pm with Tim and Alice Colegrove from Jamaica Plain. We will eat together\, learn and discuss\, and then pray together. This is Pentecost Sunday\, so we are hoping that the spirit of God will meet us deeply! \nThe dinner is free to attend and people from all Christian backgrounds are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to kelly@uniteboston.com with any dietary preferences\, and Kelly will send you the specific address where the community dinner will be taking place. We look forward to hearing your voice in these important discussions. \nHelp us spread the word through Facebook!
