SUMMARY:10 Days - Boston
DESCRIPTION:What is 10 Days? \nWe believe humble prayer touches the heart of God—and Boston is ready for a breakthrough. 10 Days Boston calls every believer across our city to join something extraordinary: a series of prayer gatherings between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur\, united in repentance and desperate seeking after God. \nThis isn’t just another prayer event. This is our generation’s moment to align our heart posture before Him during these sacred days\, cry out together\, and position ourselves for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will ignite revival in the church and awaken the lost throughout Boston and beyond. \nBoston\, our time is now. \nCheck our website 10days.boston for the most up-to-date information on activities and venues.

SUMMARY:Book Group: Grace Can Lead Us Home
DESCRIPTION:Interested in deepening your understanding of housing justice? Join our book group to read Grace Can Lead Us Home: A Christian Call to End Homelessness by Kevin Nye. This study is a chance to move beyond feeling overwhelmed by the homelessness crisis and explore a faith-based approach to engaging with it. \nThe book\, written by minister and advocate Kevin Nye\, demystifies complex issues like affordable housing\, addiction\, and mental illness\, while re-envisioning our theological response. It offers a powerful message: Jesus\, from the margins\, has something to teach us all about grace that could change the landscape of homelessness and our response to it. \nWe’ll meet every other Tuesday 7:30 -9 via Zoom starting 9/23. Register here.

SUMMARY:We Protect Each Other: Immigrants in MA with “TPS” Fight Back Against Losing Status
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that over 1.1 million people in the United States (including more than 27\,000 in MA) are at risk of living their existing legal immigration status? The Trump Administration is doing everything they can to end “Temporary Protected Status” (TPS) for immigrants from 17 countries in which the conditions are unsafe for their return. Many of them have been in our communities for more than 15 or 20 years\, owning property\, starting small businesses\, and raising citizen children. Without a pathway to Permanent Residency\, TPS-holders from countries like Haiti\, Venezuela\, Nepal\, Honduras\, El Salvador\, and Afghanistan will be forced into an impossible choice: depart the U.S. by a given end date within the next year\, or lose their work permits and legal status and be at risk of detention and deportation at any time. \nCome hear from immigrant leaders in the MA TPS Committee\, who will share with us about their fight\, their wins in the courts so far\, and what they need from the greater faith community in MA to work alongside them for these protections. While in the long run a pathway to Legal Permanent Residency is needed for TPS-Holders\, right now we need to fight with them to be able to simply stay in their homes and prevent separation from citizen children. \nWe’ll also share about their newly released documentary and an opportunity to host showings in your own congregation with MA TPS Committee speakers available for post-viewing conversations. \nHosted by: The MA TPS Committee\, Episcopal City Mission\, UU Mass Action\, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism\, UniteBoston\, and Merrimack Valley Project\, and Essex County Community Organization \nZoom registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/fmlROfiVSga2aM62R0b-bw

SUMMARY:Theology Lab: Deliver Us From Evil\, with Willie Jennings & Janette Ok
DESCRIPTION:Session 1 of Theology Lab’s Deliver Us From Evil series looks at the foundational questions: What is evil? How do we identify evil and name it? Together\, theologian Willie Jennings (Yale Divinity School) and biblical scholar Janette Ok (Fuller Seminary) help us explore these questions. Janette and Willie consider how evil and sin are conveyed in the Bible — and how that informs the way they see evil and suffering in the world around us and what faithful responses might look like. A practical question for this session involves what to do when you and another person don’t see eye to eye on what is (or isn’t) evil.

SUMMARY:Transformational Listening: Soul Care Companions (TL1)
DESCRIPTION:“I don’t want to walk away from God or my faith\, but I don’t quite know how to walk with other Christians anymore…” \nPerhaps you’ve said this yourself\, had others confide something similar to you\, or read in between the lines on social media posts. Whatever the case may be\, this is something we hear & not just in the younger generations! When someone shares this with us\, we don’t actually get discouraged\, but hopeful. Hopeful\, because we recognize the longing in them for a vulnerable relationship with God & one another that opens the door for true community. We believe one of the ways forward is through listening. But not just any listening\, true contemplative & transformational listening that builds change & community. 10 years ago\, we created our Transformational Listening: Soul Care Companions course with this in mind. Today it holds up to the test of time. Listening to God & one another makes a lasting difference. We can be contemplatives in action creating change in our inner lives with Christ & in our communities as we love one another. We have offered this course to church groups\, organizations\, & strangers that become lifelong friends. And now\, we are offering it again to you. Will you join us?
