SUMMARY:Love Thy Neighbor: COVID Grocery Delivery
DESCRIPTION:Jesus’ call for us to “love thy neighbor” presents a unique challenge during this time of social distancing. We currently have a “Love Thy Neighbor” campaign that showcases the diverse ways in which Christians throughout Greater Boston demonstrate love and connect with their neighbors in new and unexpected ways. \nLove Thy Neighbor Grocery Delivery \nWe have partnered with Park Street Church on a program in which Christians throughout the Greater Boston area can assist families with basic food needs. This program is focused on families and households who have someone that tested positive for COVID-19\, by providing them with groceries. Working in partnership with Massachusetts COVID-19 Community Tracing Collaborative (CTC) at the Department of Public Health\, the program puts each volunteer in contact with a particular family within the person’s designated zip code. The volunteers then have 48 hours to purchase and deliver groceries to their assigned families. Our goal is to serve 20 people per day\, or 100 per week! As of January 6\, 2021\, 126 volunteers from 31 churches were able to provide 14\,438 meals! In fact\, 14% of families requesting groceries through the State of Massachusetts were met by this program! \nHow Can You Help? \nIf you would like to be involved in this beautiful and much needed initiative\, please fill out the Registration Form  and help us spread the word! To get started\, we need to identify individuals who are able and willing to purchase and deliver food in a timely manner within their community. \nThank You! \nWe dream about coming together as the whole Body of Christ across Boston\, and rising up to “love thy neighbor” by meeting this practical need is a great way to get started. If you have any questions\, please contact kelly@uniteboston.com or cityengagement@parkstreet.org. \nWhen this passes\, may we say that love spread more quickly than any virus ever could! Thank you all for being willing to help us ensure that every family in Boston is cared for and loved!  \nClick here to read stories that have come out of this initiative! \n

SUMMARY:Race & Christian Community Initiative Cohorts 2020: Learning Communities for White Evangelicals
DESCRIPTION:Race & Christian Community Initiative cohorts are communities where Christians can learn about racism from a biblical perspective and develop the capacity to respond to it as an outworking of their faith. RCCI cohorts for fall 2020 are designed for White leaders shaped by the evangelical tradition\, and aim to create a space where they can come together to learn and do the self-work needed to engage issues related to race more effectively. RCCI understands leadership broadly and welcomes formal and informal leadership alike.  \nCohorts are six-month commitments through which people examine and respond to the ways racism impacts ourselves\, our society\, our Christian communities\, and faith. They are run in a seminar-style format for small groups of 6-8 people and utilize various methods\, including engaging books and media\, guest speakers\, discussion\, spiritual disciplines\, creative exercises\, and field trips. Cohorts value experiential and peer learning and aim to get beyond an intellectual understanding of race by engaging the whole person in mind\, body\, emotions\, and spirit. \nAt the end of each cohort\, participants go through an individual and communal discernment process regarding how they can take actions to contribute to the dismantling of racism in their sphere of influence. All alumni are also invited into RCCI’s support and accountability groups to receive ongoing resources to move from knowing and caring to action. \nRCCI will be offering two online\, inter-ministry cohorts for White people starting in mid-Oct. 2020. One group will be held on Tuesday evenings and another will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. These cohorts are offered at no financial cost to participants. \nVisit www.egc.org/racecohort to learn more or apply. \nIf you are interested in having RCCI offer a customized cohort experience to your organization’s leadership team\, email mlietz@egc.org. \nWe are also visioning and building so we can offer cohorts for people of color in the future.

SUMMARY:Dialogue Workshop for Religious\, Community\, and Non-Profit Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Essential Tools for Religious\, Community\, and Non-Profit Leaders\, from Essential Partners \nFaith\, community\, and nonprofit leaders alike face the challenges of working with internal and external community members in a mission-driven context. Purposeful organizations can become hobbled when differences arise around identities\, values\, and visions. They can erupt\, causing incredible harm\, or lie unaddressed in stagnation. \nThis virtual workshop will introduce participants to the basics of Essential Partners’ approach\, Reflective Structured Dialogue (RSD). Used externally\, our approach deepens community relationships so you can work together in ways that advance your values or mission. Within your institution\, our approach builds the capacity to live out your values while naming\, celebrating\, and productively engaging the differences that do exist. It also fosters robust\, aware leadership groups that work joyously and effectively together. \nSeptember 17-18\, 2020\n8:30am – 4:30pm EST\n\nIn recognition of current circumstances that may make registration costs difficult\, we’re offering a 30% discount option. If that discounted rate still presents a barrier\, we have also expanded our scholarship opportunities. Please email us for more details.\n\nFor more information or to sign up\, click here.

SUMMARY:The Prophet Project (online)
DESCRIPTION:Still Small Theatre presents The Prophet Project\, a play about the timeless story of God’s love for the world\, told through the timely words of the ancient Hebrew prophets. \nOn September 18th\, join a virtual watch party of the show (filmed summer 2019) and live Q&A with some of the artists involved! The event will be held on YouTube Live\, and the show will be available streaming on YouTube until October 3rd. \nInspired by the Biblical story of the prophet Hosea and his wife Gomer\, The Prophet Project weaves together the words of the Biblical prophets along with movement\, music\, and more  to tell the story of God’s enduring love for Israel\, and for all of humanity. Due to some of the mature themes of Scripture\, The Prophet Project is not recommended for young children. But for adults\, teens\, and mature middle schoolers\, it is a thought-provoking reflection and conversation starter on the themes of sin\, idolatry\, injustice\, redemption\, and how Christians can continue to reveal the heart of God to a broken world. \nThis watch party kicks off Still Small’s new Virtual Performance Packages\, which allow churches to book an entirely virtual event — complete with play\, Q&A with cast\, and 6-part video Bible study series! Packages become available November 1.\nSee www.stillsmalltheatre.com for more information!

SUMMARY:10 Days Boston
DESCRIPTION:10 DAYS IS A MOVEMENT OF PRAYER\, FASTING\, AND REPENTANCE IN UNITY BASED ON THE 10 “DAYS OF AWE”.  SINCE 2004\, WE’VE GROWN FROM BEING “JUST AN IDEA” TO HAVING 120 CITIES AROUND THE GLOBE IN 2019 AS PART OF THIS GLOBAL PRAYER MOVEMENT.   \nOur long-term vision is to see whole cities stop for 10 entire days to repent and recognize the worth of Jesus Christ in preparation for the Lord’s return\, but we believe this begins with believers setting themselves apart for prayer and fasting in a spirit of John 17 unity (the Upper Room).  In its fullness\, 10 Days is “The Upper Room” (Acts 1-2) meets “Ninevah” (Jonah 4). \nVisit 10days.net for more info about this movement. \nOur approach this year in Boston is two-fold. \n1. Consecrate Ourselves (Consecration Challenge from 10 Days) \n-10 Days of fasting food at some level (Daniel\, Juice\, Water\, or just eating one meal/day) \n-Taking time off from work for the purpose of prayer \n-#10daysoff from Social Media and Entertainment \n-10 Days devoted to prayer\, worship\, and repentance with their families and other believers \n2. Ban- Consecrate Assemblies \n-Daily times of prayer\, repentance\, and worship at the Boston Common Gazebo (12-5PM) \n-A call to the body of Christ in Boston to gather together in light of the medical and social issues facing our city and country with the Biblical prescription given to us in a 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Joel 2:15-17 \n-Please visit our web page for more details or to get involved!  All are welcome to join us for the prayer times \nWe want to speak a word of hope for our future in regards to racial reconciliation\, the end of the COVID19 health crisis\, systemic injustice\, and the multiplication of the gospel (and other issues relevant to the locations that will host).   \nWe want to help the church to “get outside the building” and unite together in prayer for their neighborhoods and in the worship of Jesus. \nWe believe God’s hand was at work when Governor Baker encouraged the body of Christ in the start of phase 1 to meet outdoors.  God moved powerfully in the book of Acts in outdoor gatherings\, and we believe He wants to do so right here in Boston.  We are convinced that repentance and prayer is a required response to crisis.

SUMMARY:UniteBoston's Fall Be the Bridge Group
DESCRIPTION:At UniteBoston\, we recognize the need to address the sin of racism and the pervasive inequities that persist in our city and nation. We recognize that justice is not peripheral\, but intrinsic to the gospel\, and Christians should be leading the way in the movement towards racial justice today. \nUniteBoston is launching a Be the Bridge Zoom group to foster intentional conversation about diversity and racial reconciliation\, empowering people to be the bridge between people divided by racial and cultural differences. We have found Latasha Morrison’s book\, “Be the Bridge” to be one of the most accessible books on the topic. Our goal for this group is for Christians throughout the city to gain a shared and biblically-grounded understanding of the process of restorative reconciliation – including lament\, confession\, forgiveness\, righting wrongs\, and restoring relationships. By committing to do this together\, we create a pathway for the Church in Boston to meaningfully address the sin of racism in its various forms as it has existed in history and as it exists today. \nIt will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm via Zoom from October 1 to December 17. The group will be led by leaders of different races – see the biographies below. Together\, we can courageously endeavor healthy dialogue and transformation of our communities.  \nThe video below will give you a snapshot into the groups. We are currently recruiting for participants to join our fall Be the Bridge group. At this point\, the groups are at capacity\, but we are looking for more participants who are people of color\, so if this describes you\, then feel free to sign up! Click here to sign up! \n*Note: We are excited to hear that many different churches (Grace Chapel\, Mars Hill Fellowship\, Revive Community Church\, Brockton Assembly of God\, New City Church\, Anthem Church\, and City Church) have already done the Be the Bridge curriculum. This spring we are planning to re-launch this group and focus more towards the systemic side of racism\, with locally-focused resources and speakers who are working in a particular aspect of justice (education\, housing\, police reform\, incarceration\, economic disparities\, health disparities\, etc.) to present to the group and inspire locally-focused action. If you know of someone who would be a good fit for this\, please email us at info@uniteboston.com! \n  \n \nLeadership \nRev. Jacob Urena \nRev. Jacob Urena is a commissioned missioner in The Order of St. Martin de Porres\, a religious order within the Diocese of the Good Shepherd serving the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC). The CEEC intentionally brings together three streams of the Church: Scripture\, Spirit\, and Sacrament. Jacob has worked hands-on in the formation of the socio-religious order locally in the Boston area and his sole motivations are on the upward mobility of every individual\, especially those ostracized and forgotten. Rev. Jacob has worked as an advocate and organizer for justice in his community in a variety of ways\, including organizing community forums and prayer rallies. \nSeong Park \n \nA greater Boston native\, Seong has spent the last 6 years working in the social impact sector in Myanmar. During this time\, she served at an international church that brings together Christians from diverse countries\, denominations\, and backgrounds\, and partners with local churches to support their growth in the ethnically diverse country of Myanmar. Seong finds great encouragement in witnessing God transform messy church families into communities that repent\, relearn\, and rebuild together to better reflect Christ’s love and justice for the world. Since returning home during the pandemic\, she’s been attending the Korean Church of the Lord in Boston\, the same church where she grew up. \nRev. Kelly Fassett \nKelly has served as the Executive Director for UniteBoston since 2012 and has been the catalyst for UniteBoston’s bridge-building work throughout Christians in the region. She has a certificate in Christian Foundations from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She also graduated with her Masters of Divinity in Global and Community Engagement at Boston University in 2019\, with certificates in Religion and Conflict Transformation as well as International Mission and Ecumenism. Kelly and her husband Andrew are both ordained ministers with the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts\, have one daughter named Abigail\, and live in an intentional Christian community in the Dorchester area. \nPradeepan Parthiban \n \nPradeepan moved to Boston from Austin\, Texas\, where he worked to equip local churches in disciple making\, house church planting and helping marginalized communities. He continues the same ministry in Boston helping the members of Antioch Greater Boston walk out for biblical justice through discipleship and evangelism. Pradeepan also serves as a consultant for entities seeking to use technology to solve global human rights issues\, with a focus on using AI to combat modern slavery. \nBrent and Karen Brown \n \nBrent and Karen have served in ministry together for the past eleven years and both have over 20 years of ministry experience. They have been Youth Workers and Youth Directors at churches in Lynnfield and Lynn. Brent and Karen were also co-leaders of the Young Adult ministry at Remix Church and they completed their first year at the SNEMN School of Ministry to obtain pastoral credentials with the Assemblies of God. Brent and Karen are passionate about racial reconciliation and are members of Be the Bridge and the Cyrene Movement. Brent and Karen have been married for eleven years and are the proud parents of five and grandparents to Bentley and London. They are currently attending Impact Church in Medford.

DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: We have had to postpone this event due to the rainy forecast for Friday; stay tuned on UniteBoston’s newsletter and social media to see when it will be rescheduled. \nEarly this year\, churches representing a variety of traditions across the region came together to pray collectively for racial justice in our city. That moment of unity and prayer around our city’s past and potential has transformed into a movement to organize and pray for our city at the community level. On Friday 10/16 at 3pm in Codman Square\, we will gather alongside local churches in the area to pray. \nThis event will be streaming LIVE from UniteBoston’s Facebook page\, and people who live/work in Codman Square are invited to join us in person outside at Second Church in Dorchester while practicing social distancing. Join us to pray for justice and unity in this unprecedented cultural moment.

SUMMARY:Grace Chapel is Hiring! Contemporary Worship Leader
DESCRIPTION:Are you passionate about crafting excellent worship experiences that create an atmosphere for bringing life-changing encounters with God? Do you understand that worship is holy\, not a gig or where you can prove your abilities? Are you current on the latest trends and movements within the church and do you have a vision for where God might be calling our congregation and musicians to grow in new expressions of worship? If so\, then Grace Chapel is looking forward to talking to you! Here is a packet with the opportunity profile for our worship leader position at Grace Chapel in Lexington. \nAbout the Role \nGrace Chapel is looking for an experienced\, full-time Contemporary Worship Leader to join our staff team at the Lexington Campus. In this role you will lead with skill and wisdom to help craft engaging\, excellent and God-honoring in-person and digital/online worship experiences that proclaim the uncompromised message of the Gospel. You must care that people understand why we worship and not just how we worship. This role will report directly to the Lexington Campus Pastor and indirectly to Grace Chapel’s Pastor of Worship Ministry. \nMeet Grace Chapel \nGrace Chapel is a non-denominational\, multicultural church that welcomes everyone\, no matter what your faith background or where you are on your spiritual journey. Our mission is simple – discovering life with God for the good of the world. We are fully committed and passionate about helping people find and follow Jesus. \nWe’ve been around for quite a while – since 1948 in fact\, when four families in Lexington\, Massachusetts met weekly in a home for a time of worship\, Bible study\, and prayer. These families had a heart and vision for reaching and serving people in the growing western suburbs of Boston. Since we incorporated in 1956\, we’ve grown from a few dozen people in a rented space in Lexington to 4\,000 people coming together for Sunday services and midweek programs in-person across five campuses (Lexington\, Wilmington\, Watertown\, East Lexington\, and Foxboro) and online. Our worship services are casual\, innovative\, contemporary\, and upbeat and we offer great Sunday morning programs for kids and teens at all our locations. Learn more about Grace on our website at https://www.grace.org and about the Lexington campus at https://www.grace.org/lexington/. \nThe Role Will: \n-Collaborate with Grace Chapel’s Senior Pastor\, Pastor of Worship and Pastor of Digital Ministry to design\, plan\, and produce in person and online Sunday worship services and other events. \n-Oversee and regularly lead worship at the Sunday contemporary service and take ownership for the atmosphere created. Create an experience that connects with a younger generation and multi-cultural congregation\, promotes authentic worship\, and proclaims the uncompromised message of the Gospel. \n-Deliver high-quality worship teams on the platform and provide opportunities for new people to grow and develop. Effectively lead and prepare musicians at rehearsals. \n-Work closely with the technical and production teams as well as the Lexington campus’ Classic Worship Leader and the Worship Leaders at all campuses. \n-Implement a solid leadership structure at the campus by recruiting\, training\, and developing worship team members\, inspiring them to create\, and nurture their gifts. \n-Build worship sets\, and help with creative elements\, and video moments that add to the communication of the services. \n-Provide organizational leadership and accountability for the campus worship ministry\, including planning\, budgeting etc. \n-Continue to grow in your relationship with Jesus and bring that to the worship ministry and platform. \n-Participate in the staff life\, responsibilities\, and activities of Grace Chapel as available. \n-Fully support Grace Chapel’s mission\, vision\, and values: https://www.grace.org/about-us/church-overview/ \nWhat You Bring: \nMusically –  You have a quality singing voice and an engaging stage presence and you are highly skilled on at least one musical instrument. You have an appreciation for and are respectful of all worship styles and music genres. Having formal music training and an ability to write and arrange music is a big plus. \nWorship Arts – You are passionate about crafting excellent worship experiences that create an atmosphere for bringing life-changing encounters with God. You understand that worship is holy\, not a gig or where you can prove your abilities. You are current on the latest trends and movements within the local church and you have a vision for where God might be calling our congregation and our musicians to grow in new expressions of worship. \nLeadership – You cast a compelling vision of the significance and power of great contemporary worship both in-person and online and can communicate in a way that inspires those around you. You are a team-builder and are extremely organized. You relentlessly recruit and develop talented volunteer musicians to serve the congregation with excellence and humility. \nPeople Skills – You must be relational and have a heart for leading people in worship and not just leading a worship service. You create authentic community where individuals in your ministry are loved\, encouraged\, and supported. You see the importance of building and engaging diverse worship teams and a growing multi-cultural congregation. \nInspirational – With a strong platform presence\, you model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style that draws people in\, encourages participation\, and points people to Jesus. \nExcellence – You strive for quality and always bring your finest for the glory of God. You are constantly growing and looking for freshness. You encourage others to be constantly developing their gifts and trying new things and new ideas. \nTechnology – You have experience using technology in worship – lighting\, worship software\, sound systems\, video projection\, etc. You have experience recording audio and video tracks from your home. You can incorporate new technology and other art forms as needed. \nEducation & Experience \nYou must have demonstrated experience planning\, preparing\, and leading contemporary worship services. You must be gifted vocally and highly proficient on at least one musical instrument. You are skilled in vocal and instrumental direction. Formal music training and an ability to write and arrange music is preferable. \n Personal Characteristics: \n-A growing relationship with Jesus Christ. \n-Energetic and enthusiastic with a strong desire to be part of a local church ministry team. \n-Strong communication and interpersonal skills. \n-Able to organize\, pay close attention to details\, and work effectively as part of a team. \n-Proactive\, flexible\, and able to adapt to last-minute developments typical of church ministry. \nWhat We Offer \nSalaries at Grace Chapel are competitive for churches in this area. In addition\, our benefit plans reflect our commitment to the health and welfare of our staff members and their families and are an important component of our compensation package. We offer generous health and dental insurance plans\, short and long-term disability insurance\, life insurance\, three weeks of paid vacation per calendar year\, nine paid holidays per year\, ten paid sick days per year\, and a generous retirement program. \nThese benefits are just the start. We also offer opportunities to learn and grow professionally\, a fun work environment\, a community that fosters inclusivity and diversity\, and a team of co-workers who are committed and passionate about helping people find and follow Jesus. \nYou will find that our worship teams are made up of over 20 extremely dedicated and talented musicians and vocalists who help connect our congregation to Jesus through corporate musical worship. Most of these gifted individuals are volunteers. And our technical production and digital ministry teams that bring it all together are top-notch partners for our worship. \nThe Submission Process \nIf you sense that the gifts and experience God has given you are a good match for Grace Chapel and this position\, we invite you to begin the application process. We handle all candidate information and conversations confidentially. \nWe are also requiring one video example of you leading worship in a live setting as well as a video of you playing your instrument and singing. The second video can be a simple video made at home on your phone. Applications submitted without videos will not be reviewed. \nApply Today!
