SUMMARY:Solving The World's Greatest Problems
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, May 8 for an 8:30-12:30 dive into Solving the World’s Greatest Problems.  We’re looking to gather 40-50 Christian leaders from across the Boston area to watch a 2 ½ hour videocast of a recent well-regarded event on this topic that included several known Christian leaders (for example\, Tim Tebow).   We’ll then dive into table discussions about what we can do together to actually solve some of the biggest problems that New England faces.  Ideally we’ll come out of this with a rough framework for an action plan with some next steps.  We’ll be meeting at Grace Chapel in Lexington.  Cost is $39\, lunch is included. \nFor more info and to register\, click here

SUMMARY:TABCOM Annual Gathering
DESCRIPTION:The TABCOM Annual Gathering will be held May 1–2\, 2026\, at the First Baptist Church of Worcester\, 111 Park Ave\, Worcester\, MA 01609. \nThis year’s theme is “Building Bridges.” \nGrounded in Ephesians 2:19–22\, the 2026 TABCOM Annual Gathering invites us to reflect on our shared identity as members of God’s household. We are reminded that we are no longer strangers\, but one body in Christ—built together with Christ as our cornerstone. \nIn a time when divisions can feel strong\, this gathering calls us to unity\, reconciliation\, and deeper connection across cultures\, generations\, and communities. Together\, we will explore what it means to truly live as a people who build bridges—within our churches and beyond. \nWe are honored to welcome UniteBoston’s own Rev. Kelly Fassett as our plenary speaker\, Rev. Dr. J. Anthony Lloyd as this year’s keynote preacher\, and Rev. Dr. Mary Day Hamel who will be our Friday night preacher. \nHosted by the First Baptist Church in Worcester\, the Annual Gathering will include inspiring worship\, meaningful teaching\, and opportunities for fellowship and connection. \nWe Need Your Help! We are looking for volunteers to join us at the UniteBoston table from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. You’ll help us connect with pastors and listen for how God is stirring interest in ministries of reconciliation and bridge-building.  \nVolunteer Perks: \n\nComplimentary Conference Ticket: If you volunteer\, we’ll comp your registration fee! \nNetworking: Connect with local pastors and Christian leaders from across the state.\n\nImpact: Be part of the conversation on how we can build bridges across our churches and communities. \n\n\nWe will also celebrate church anniversaries\, recognize ordination milestones\, and give thanks for the shared ministry we hold together as American Baptists in Massachusetts. \nCome and be part of what God is building—one house\, many nations\, united in Christ. \nRegister for the Conference Here \nTo volunteer\, reach out to Rev. Kelly at kelly@uniteboston.com \nThank you!

SUMMARY:Holy Hour in Christian Unity
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow local Christians on Thursday February 12 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm to worship\, pray and adore Jesus as we seek greater unity in the body of Christ. \nHosted by St. Mary’s Hakuna – a community dedicated to a joyful “Eucharistic lifestyle” – and in partnership with UniteBoston\, who nurtures unity among diverse Christians through relationships for the flourishing of the city. Join us to worship Jesus together as one body\, followed by an informal social hangout! \nRSVP is not required\, but if you know you will attend\, please RSVP here to help gauge food and drink for afterwards. Also\, parking is available at the church! \n\n“All who accept Christ as Lord and Savior are brothers and sisters in Christ. Evangelicals and Catholics are brothers and sisters in Christ. We have not chosen one another\, just as we have not chosen Christ. He has chosen us\, and he has chosen us to be his together. However imperfect our communion with one another\, however deep our disagreements with one another\, we recognize that there is but one church of Christ. There is one church because there is one Christ and the church is his body” – The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium\, FirstThings\, May 1994    \n \n“True Christian unity\, we believe\, is not so much a goal to be achieved as a gift to be received”\n \n“As Evangelicals and Catholics\, we pray that our unity in the love of Christ will become ever more evident as a sign to the world of God’s reconciling power”.\n\n*The four statements are The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium\, 1994\, The Gift of Salvation\, 1997\, Your Word is Truth\, 2002 and The Communion of Saints\, 2003. SUMMARY:Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
DESCRIPTION:The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an international initiative where Christians worldwide are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17:21). Locally\, UniteBoston coordinates evening collaborative gatherings of fellowship\, prayer and worship from January 18-25 annually. \n\n\n\nThis Year’s Theme: Drawing from the resilience and liturgical richness of the Christians of Armenia—Oriental Orthodox\, Catholic\, and Evangelical—this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity invites us to reflect on Ephesians 4:4: “There is one body and one Spirit\, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” As the first nation to officially embrace Christianity in 301 CE\, Armenia offers a profound witness to unity that has survived centuries of persecution and displacement. The materials for 2026 highlight that our shared identity is rooted in a ancient covenant\, symbolized by the safe arrival of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat and the promise of the rainbow. By focusing on our common vocation and the “one hope” of salvation\, we are challenged to move beyond historical divisions toward a conversion of heart\, practicing a unity that embraces diversity while remaining steadfast in the love and mission of Christ. \n\n\n\nMark Your Calendars – You are invited to mark your calendars and plan to attend the evening gatherings! In this time of Epiphany\, we encourage you to receive the manifestation of Jesus Christ through those of different denominations\, races and cultures. Let’s make the most of these opportunities in order to truly be the family of God and serve as the body of Christ in the world. Let’s also pray with our feet – consider how our beliefs can come together in common action and witness. \n\n\n\nSpread the Word – We also appreciate help spreading the word to people in your congregation\, family\, friends\, and neighbors. A personal invitation goes a long way. \n\n\n\nUB Board Devotionals – This year for the Week of Prayer\, the UniteBoston Board and Staff will be sharing video devotional and prayers\, which will be shared on our social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram! \n\n\n\nCalling to mind our common commitment to ‘love thy neighbor\,’ may the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, January 18-25\, 2025 be full of moments of conversion of heart through our encounters\, so that “all may be one.” \n\n\n\n\n\nResources for Your Week of Prayer Experience\n\n\n\nLitany for Christian Unity \n\n\n\nChristian Unity Daily Prayer Guide – Created by the Greymoor Institute or The Initiative \n\n\n\nIntroduction on the Theme from Greymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Initiative \n\n\n\nAs you are able\, please also share this invitation with other churches and communities in your network so that more communities may gather to pray at this pivotal time in our country and city. \n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule for Gatherings in Boston & New England\n\n\n\n*All events are free and open to all.* \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThurs January 15  – Taizé Prayer with the Sisters of St. Joseph  \n\n\n\n7:00 to 7:45pm at Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph\, 637 Cambridge St\, Brighton\, MA 02135 \n\n\n\nTaizé prayer is a simple form of Christian prayer centered on scripture\, silence\, and song based on the daily prayer of the religious community in Taizé\, France. SUMMARY:Be the Movement: Welcome the Stranger
DESCRIPTION:Turn your compassion into action.\nWelcome a Haitian family in New England \nImmigrants built Boston. And now shelters are scheduled to close starting June 30th. When that happens\, Haitian families already vulnerable will be pushed onto the street and into crisis. \nWelcomeNST has identified\, interviewed and vetted families at immediate risk with the Immigrant Family Services Institute in Mattapan. UniteBoston is partnering with them to stand up\, lock arms with your neighbors and form Neighborhood Support Teams (NST) that will welcome these families into your communities. NSTs help vulnerable families secure housing\, navigate schools\, find work\, and become part of your community. \nOur goal is to mobilize 50 Neighborhood Support Teams in Greater Boston to come alongside 50 Immigrant Families.  \nRev. Kelly’s church (Neighborhood Church of Boston) launched a Neighborhood Support Team last year to support a refugee family from the DRC and it has been an incredible experience. \nAs tensions escalate\, this movement enables you to put the superpower of your community to work\, welcoming someone from the outside to the inside. Your community was made for such a time as this. \nJoin for a zoom call next Tuesday August 5 from 6-7pm ET.  Register here. \n\nResources \n\nPartner Toolkit\nRegistration link to the “Welcome the Stranger\, New England!” Zoom on July 9 from 6-7pm\nInterest Form\n“Be the Movement. SUMMARY:Join the Pilot Cohort of the Beloved Community Lab
DESCRIPTION:Monthly on Tuesdays\, 11:00AM–2:00PM | Starts September 16 | $750 Stipend | Application Due August 15 \n – Do you long to be in a community of Boston-based leaders from a variety of Christian traditions and backgrounds? \n – How do we follow Jesus’ call to love our neighbors – and our enemies – without losing our convictions? \n – Do you want to explore how conflict can strengthen our connections to one another instead of fracturing us apart?  \n – Do you long for the Church to be known for what we are for\, rather than what we are against?  \n – Do you desire to be an ambassador of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:20) and want to grow in learning how to lead your community in the peacemaking\, reconciling Way of Jesus?   –  \nIf these questions stir up something inside you\, then the Beloved Community Lab might be for you! \n\nA New Kind of Leadership for our Divided Time \nDespite Jesus’ clear mandate for unity and welcoming all to the table\, churches remain some of the most divided institutions in our society. With over 45\,000 Christian denominations and countless divides over race\, gender\, theology\, and politics\, the Church’s fractured witness stands in stark contrast to Jesus’ prayer that we would be one (John 17). \nA team of diverse Christian leaders in Boston recognized this gap and came together to ask: \nWhat kind of discipleship is needed to form leaders who uphold God’s call for unity and oneness in today’s world? \nThrough prayer\, study\, and listening\, UniteBoston has been on a two-year journey of developing the Beloved Community Lab\, a unique opportunity for Boston-area Christian leaders to come together across lines of difference to learn and practice unity\, justice\, and reconciliation in their leadership contexts. \nWe call this a “lab” because it combines core theological concepts with real-world application through case studies\, interactive exercises\, and spiritual practices. This cohort is a space for spiritual formation—shaping leaders into peacemakers and reconcilers\, growing into the life and way of Jesus.  \nThe things that are keeping us part are deep-rooted: we need a vision of togetherness that doesn’t only lean into our differences but also brings about holistic gospel transformation. If we want to see a different kind of world and a more embodied Christian witness\, we must become different kinds of people. Our pilot Beloved Community Lab cohort is an experiment in Christian unity that seeks to change not just what we know\, but how we live. \n\nDetails  \nWHEN: Tuesdays from 11:00AM–2:00PM\nFORMAT: Monthly gatherings in-person (Greater Boston Area) or Zoom\nSTIPEND: $750 for full participation\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: August 15\, 2025\nWHO SHOULD APPLY:\nChristian leaders in Greater Boston who value unity\, reconciliation\, and justice—and want to grow in living these out. We are seeking to convene a cohort community of stakeholders that come from a wide range of denominational\, theological\, racial/ethnic\, and generational backgrounds to shape the curriculum during its pilot stage. \nClick here to see the Beloved Community Lab Cohort PDF to learn more about the vision\, dates\, core competencies\, and more. We will be choosing 15 pastoral leaders from diverse backgrounds and we do have $750 stipends to honor leaders for their time and participation. \nWe believe there’s no better time than now for Christ followers to prioritize the ministry of reconciliation by engaging well across our deep differences – serving as peacemakers in our fractured world. Today’s algorithms and silos will seek to keep us fractured and divided\, but God calls us to a different way.  \nApply by August 15 to join the Pilot Cohort!  \nWe look forward to learning with you!

SUMMARY:UniteBoston’s Fundraising Party & Community Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for UniteBoston’s Eighth Annual Fundraising Party & Community Gathering! \nYou are invited to UniteBoston’s Fundraising Party and community gathering on Friday\, April 11 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at the Bruce C. Bolling Building. This is an evening of celebration with food\, fun\, and an opportunity to partner with us in our bridge-building work. \nOur team has chosen the theme of “fortify” for this season of UniteBoston\, as it is a pivotal moment for Christians to fortify the foundation that we are standing on. At UniteBoston\, we are working to equip Christians to be peacemakers and bridge-builders—agents of unity\, reconciliation\, justice\, and repair in a fractured world. These aren’t just lofty ideals but actionable values that should shape the way Christians engage with one another and everyone they meet. Through intentional convening and discipleship\, we are nurturing a “beloved community” where Christ’s love can overcome even the most entrenched divides. \nThis year’s event will feature a special keynote address by Rev. Michelle Sanchez\, author of Color-Courageous Discipleship and Beloved Community. Rev. Sanchez is currently serving as a coach for our curriculum development\, and we are excited to glean from her perspective. This will be followed by a conversation with Rev. Kelly and Rev. SUMMARY:Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025
\nThis Year’s Theme: In 2025\, Christians mark the 1\,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea\, where key doctrinal disputes about the Trinity and the nature of Christ were resolved\, resulting in the Nicene Creed—a foundational statement of Christian faith and unity. The Nicene Creed is the Christian “symbol” of agreed doctrine and also the statement of faith for UniteBoston. This commemoration invites Christians to celebrate what unites them through the Creed while reflecting on the divisions that still persist today. \n \n\n\n \n\n\nClick above to watch a reflection on the significance of the Nicene Creed from Dr. Elizabeth M. Woodard\, Catholic theologian\, musician\, author\, speaker\, spiritual director\, and ecumenist. She is a member of our Christian unity cohort and considers her vocation as bringing people to God and to each other. \n \n\n\n\n\n\nMark Your Calendars – You are invited to mark your calendars and plan to attend the evening gatherings! In this time of Epiphany\, we encourage you to receive the manifestation of Jesus Christ through those of different denominations\, ethnic backgrounds and cultures. \n\n\n\nCalling to mind our common commitment to ‘love thy neighbor\,’ may the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, January 18-25\, 2025 be full of moments of conversion of heart through our encounters\, so that “all may be one.” \n\n\n\nResources for Your Week of Prayer Experience from The Initiative:\nLitany for Christian Unity \nDaily Prayer Guide \nPDF Schedule for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity  \nIntroduction on the Theme from Greymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Initiative \n\nSchedule for Gatherings in Boston & New England\nSaturday January 18 – Christian Unity Prayer Service \n11:00am to 1:00pm at Noroton Presbyterian Church\, 2011 Post Road\, Darien CT \nJoin pastoral leaders in Connecticut for liturgical prayer using the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity worship service. \nSunday January 19 – Love Casts Out Fear: An Inauguration Eve Vigil \n5:00 to 7:00pm at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul\, 138 Tremont St. Downtown Boston\, MA 02111 or via the Cathedral’s YouTube Channel \nJoin Episcopal Bishop Julia E.
