DESCRIPTION:Join Us for UniteBoston’s Eighth Annual Fundraising Party & Community Gathering! \nYou are invited to UniteBoston’s Fundraising Party and community gathering on Friday\, April 11 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at the Bruce C. Bolling Building. This is an evening of celebration with food\, fun\, and an opportunity to partner with us in our bridge-building work. \nOur team has chosen the theme of “fortify” for this season of UniteBoston\, as it is a pivotal moment for Christians to fortify the foundation that we are standing on. At UniteBoston\, we are working to equip Christians to be peacemakers and bridge-builders—agents of unity\, reconciliation\, justice\, and repair in a fractured world. These aren’t just lofty ideals but actionable values that should shape the way Christians engage with one another and everyone they meet. Through intentional convening and discipleship\, we are nurturing a “beloved community” where Christ’s love can overcome even the most entrenched divides. \nThis year’s event will feature a special keynote address by Rev. Michelle Sanchez\, author of Color-Courageous Discipleship and Beloved Community. Rev. Sanchez is currently serving as a coach for our curriculum development\, and we are excited to glean from her perspective. This will be followed by a conversation with Rev. Kelly and Rev. Devlin and testimonies of impact by our team. \nThis gathering will take place in Nubian Square. SUMMARY:Workplace Writing In Christian perspective and practice

SUMMARY:Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an international initiative where Christians worldwide are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17:21). Locally\, UniteBoston coordinates evening collaborative gatherings of fellowship\, prayer and worship from January 18-25 annually. \nThis Year’s Theme: In 2025\, Christians mark the 1\,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea\, where key doctrinal disputes about the Trinity and the nature of Christ were resolved\, resulting in the Nicene Creed—a foundational statement of Christian faith and unity. The Nicene Creed is the Christian “symbol” of agreed doctrine and also the statement of faith for UniteBoston. This commemoration invites Christians to celebrate what unites them through the Creed while reflecting on the divisions that still persist today. \n \n\n\n \n\n\nClick above to watch a reflection on the significance of the Nicene Creed from Dr. Elizabeth M. Woodard\, Catholic theologian\, musician\, author\, speaker\, spiritual director\, and ecumenist. She is a member of our Christian unity cohort and considers her vocation as bringing people to God and to each other. \n \n\n\n\n\n\nMark Your Calendars – You are invited to mark your calendars and plan to attend the evening gatherings! In this time of Epiphany\, we encourage you to receive the manifestation of Jesus Christ through those of different denominations\, ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Let’s make the most of these opportunities in order to truly be the family of God and serve as the body of Christ in the world. Let’s also pray with our feet – consider how our beliefs can come together in common action and witness. \n\n\n\nSpread the Word – We also appreciate help spreading the word to people in your congregation\, family\, friends\, and neighbors. A personal invitation goes a long way. \n\n\n\nCalling to mind our common commitment to ‘love thy neighbor\,’ may the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, January 18-25\, 2025 be full of moments of conversion of heart through our encounters\, so that “all may be one.” \n\n\n\nResources for Your Week of Prayer Experience from The Initiative:\nLitany for Christian Unity \nDaily Prayer Guide \nPDF Schedule for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity  \nIntroduction on the Theme from Greymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Initiative \n\nSchedule for Gatherings in Boston & New England\nSaturday January 18 – Christian Unity Prayer Service \n11:00am to 1:00pm at Noroton Presbyterian Church\, 2011 Post Road\, Darien CT \nJoin pastoral leaders in Connecticut for liturgical prayer using the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity worship service. \nSunday January 19 – Love Casts Out Fear: An Inauguration Eve Vigil \n5:00 to 7:00pm at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul\, 138 Tremont St. Downtown Boston\, MA 02111 or via the Cathedral’s YouTube Channel \nJoin Episcopal Bishop Julia E. SUMMARY:Women in Christian Leadership: A Time of Listening and Sharing
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special\, set aside space during the annual Vision New England Leaders Gathering for women in Christian leadership to gather for dessert and meaningful conversation. Let’s come and process together the unique experiences\, stories\, and perspectives we hold on Tuesday May 7\, from 6:00 to 8:30pm at Gordon College. \nThe hope for this gathering is to experience a space of deep listening and connection about living and leading throughout this pre-election year as a Christian woman leader. This will be a special structured time to meet with God\, yourself\, and others. \nWe seek to slow down our minds and bodies to practice the art and gift of presence with one another and with God. We seek to create a brave space for all women to come fully as they are to listen\, share\, and process together. \nWe’ll be crafting small group dialogue where your voice\, story and engagement matter\, so the earlier you RSVP\, this helps out with our planning. You can also invite a friend or two in Christian leadership who might appreciate this kind of space and whom you can journey with to continue the evening’s conversation. \nClick here to register \n*Note: When you click on the Eventbrite\, it may say “sold out.” However\, this is likely not the case\, as we have been receiving some spammed registrations. Please email Ashley Howard apitkin@visionnewengland.org to register if the event says sold out. Thank you!

SUMMARY:Good Friday Public Worship & Action for Ceasefire
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Good Friday\, March 29\, at 4PM at Faneuil Hall* Square to make it known: as Christians and people of faith\, we demand a ceasefire now.\n \nGood Friday\, March 29\, 4PM 1 Faneuil Hall* Sq\, Boston\, MA 02109 (map) RSVP at: https://bit.ly/goodfridayaction \nThis Holy Week\, we follow in the steps of Jesus who resisted the forces of violence and oppression even to the point of death on a cross\, and triumphed over them in his resurrection. On Good Friday\, we remember and bear witness to Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the Roman Empire. This prophetic memory calls us to be in solidarity with Palestinians and all peoples who are suffering under occupation and systemic violence. On Good Friday\, we will mourn the lives lost in Gaza\, and take action to ensure this violence ends. \nWe will engage the narrative and symbols of Jesus’ confrontation with—and victory over—violence to demand that our government take this opportunity to confess\, repent\, and repair. We call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire\, unfettered aid to enter Gaza\, an end to unrestricted funding for weapons of war to Israel\, and a release of all hostages and prisoners. \nWe will gather to worship—with preaching\, confession\, song and ritual—and we will take action to proclaim to our city and to our political leaders that the time for a lasting ceasefire is now. We call on people of faith to stand alongside Palestinian Christians in their call to “reject all theologies and interpretations that legitimize the wars of the powerful” and to recognize a “God of the downtrodden and the oppressed\, and a Jesus who rebuked the powerful and lifted up the marginalized.” \nWe are mindful of the history of Christian antisemitic violence during Holy Week\, especially on Good Friday. On this day as we face the cross\, we must reckon with the legacy of violence and colonization\, committed in the name of Christianity\, while we recommit to the liberating path of Jesus\, who confronted empire and proclaimed\, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” \nThe calls for a permanent ceasefire continue to grow\, and the political establishment is finding it harder to ignore the will of people. The Biden administration is pushing for a “temporary truce” that does not take any responsibility for the United States’ role in the destruction of Gaza. We call on our nation’s representatives to live into the values they claim to support. We need a lasting ceasefire now. \nThis action is being planned by a group of clergy and faith leaders\, many of whom are associated with Interfaith Ceasefire in Boston. \nFollow us @interfaithceasefire on instagram and @interfaithcease on X/Twitter. \n\n\n\n*In October of 2023 the Boston City Council voted to change the name of Faneuil Hall which was named for a slave owner and slave trader\, after years of organizing by a coalition to change the name of the hall.

SUMMARY:Migrant Care: Boston Flourish Follow-Up Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a follow-up conversation from Boston Flourish around Migrant Care in Boston on March 8th at 10am. We will give a current update on urgent needs and begin to create working groups for short/long term collaborative care solutions in the city. There are many people already so beautifully engaged\, we just are trying to make those efforts more visible and accessible and also determine where we might discover some gaps. \nA survey was created from the first Boston Flourish conversation\, where faith communities and nonprofits could respond in order to allow us to create a resource map and rapid response team in the city. If you\, or those in your network\, have not completed the survey please do so by clicking here.  \nRSVP by clicking here: bit.ly/belong-mar \nQuestions?
