SUMMARY:Nurture: UniteBoston's 2022 Fundraising Party
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for UniteBoston’s annual fundraising party on Thursday December 8 at 7:00pm at Second Church in Dorchester. This will be a night of live music\, food\, and stories to celebrate how God has been at work through UniteBoston. \nThis year’s theme is “Nurture” – Nurture speaks to the humble posture that is required to bring about unity and reconciliation\, requiring tender care for each member of the body as a gardener tends to a garden. Nurturing means that you provide nourishment and also root out any weeds that are hindering growth\, so that the garden can holistically flourish and bless those who visit it.  \nThis is an in-person event\, and you can also join us via Facebook Live during the evening’s program. Parking is available\, and it is a short walk from the Shawmut station on the red line. \nThere is no cost to attend\, but there will be an opportunity to invest in UniteBoston’s nurturing ministry in the city at the event. Space is limited\, so please register your spot via Eventbrite here. We look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:"Together Again" UniteBoston Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join UniteBoston for an outdoor gathering this September to unite in authentic\, genuine worship. We’ve endured a lot these past two years – isolation from the pandemic\, political polarization\, and racial reckoning…and God continues to be faithful. Let’s join together again to worship Jesus and rekindle the fire of our common faith and mission. This year’s concert will have the feel of “living room worship\,” and feature a community choir in addition to the united worship band. Join us to worship Jesus again in the heart of the city!  \nRSVP here via Facebook to receive notifications and enter special giveaways we have just for you! Please invite friends and help us spread the word! \n\n \nSponsored Tables – Local organizations and businesses are invited to host a table during our fall concert. This is a great opportunity to spread the word about the inspiring work you do to those who are attending. \nCommunity Choir – We’re also opening up the opportunity for people to join our community choir which will be lead by Craig Ramsey\, Jr. \nVolunteers Needed! We’re looking for volunteers that day to help with set-up\, greeting / outreach\, and prayer. Email Rev. Kelly at <kelly@uniteboston.com> if you’re interested in volunteering! \nOrganizing Team – We have an incredible team of people who are working behind the scenes to put on the concert – Click here to meet our team! \n\nNote: This worship gathering is taking place at Christopher Columbus Park in downtown Boston. UniteBoston’s team recognizes that this park was named after someone who led an expedition to the Americas and is responsible for the killing of native peoples. The park is also adjacent to Long Wharf\, where slave traders trafficked kidnapped Africans into Boston. We call individuals to grieve and repent from the sin of racism and its impacts\, which shaped the founding of our country and continue to endure in us as individuals\, in our churches\, institutions\, culture and social systems. As an initial step\, UniteBoston’s team is taking this year to better understand the ways in which white supremacy shows up in our leadership and organization\, and how we can contribute to unity in the body of Christ that upholds Biblical justice. Together\, may we work towards dismantling the ways that systemic racism shows up in Greater Boston and beyond\, so we can honor the image of God inherent in all people and contribute to holistic flourishing reflective of God’s kingdom.

Jane also serves as pastoral staff on ARISE Ministries\, a regional non-profit that contends for the revival of the second generation of the Korean Church of New England. Her prayer is that the next generation would encounter the life-changing Jesus that set her free. Jane is also the research specialist for the Thriving Congregations Team at the Center for Urban Ministerial Education in Roxbury. She is passionate about how research can be used to build up the Church (with emphasis on immigrant churches and churches of color) by better informing its future. In her free time\, she loves jazz in vinyl form\, coffee\, interior design\, and basketball. \n\n\n\nFugi Acevedo: Fugi is a Boston-born poet and visual creative who drives to create art from a place of vulnerability. Along with the arts\, he uses powerlifting to discover mental and physical strength while being actively involved in the community. Fugi is a strong believer that both therapy and having a relationship with God are essential.

SUMMARY:Groups for Spiritual Community and Discipleship in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:“What Would Happen If You Were Enchanted With Jesus?”  \nThe question above is one that we ask in our small groups because we know just how easy it is to fall into “knowing things about Jesus” instead of having a highly interactive quality of life with Jesus. \nSeeing beyond flimsy mental images of him that don’t affect you in the ways that you’d hope for\, and instead of being truly stunned by what he’s actually capable of doing to you and to others. Becoming invigorated with joy as you realize how powerful he is\, confident that he’s here with you right now\, ready to engage with the difficult thoughts and feelings that you can’t seem to get far enough away from.  \nIf you’ve chosen to be a student of Jesus\, you’re invited to enter a life immersed in the peace and joy of Christ\, but if you’re like many of us\, you’re motivated by the idea of following Jesus\, but then another path comes into view and seems like it’s offering something better only a few minutes later. Most of us have a major problem with maintaining a clear vision of what’s most important\, and beyond that\, actively cultivating the habits that would keep us focused on that vision when something else blocks it from view.  Imagine how it would feel if you were completely unmotivated to hold onto unhealthy thoughts and actions that currently drain your energy\, and instead\, you actively wanted to pour your energy into things that would make a positive difference in your life and in the lives of others around you.  \nIf you’re interested in progressively learning how to become immersed in all of the good things that Jesus wants to give to you\, consider joining one of our discipleship groups happening in/near your workplace. \nStarting in September\, we will meet once every two weeks on a weekday morning at specific locations downtown (as well as on Zoom)\, and while this is a low time commitment on your schedule\, we want these times together to be very encouraging to one another and impactful to making a significant change in our lives. More thorough explanations\, group details\, and thoughts from current group members can be found at  https://www.cruboston.com/workplaceconnect. \nIf this sounds like something you’re curious about\, feel free to email me at todd.humphreys@cru.org

SUMMARY:Renew: A UniteBoston Backyard Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, UniteBoston is hosting a series of four backyard concerts throughout the neighborhoods of Boston. This collaborative space invites Christian artists and budding songwriters to share the songs\, poems\, artwork\, and dances that have emerged out of the challenges of this past year. Our hope is that these concerts will restore bonds of friendship\, justice\, and resilience\, bringing renewal to the body of Christ and our surrounding communities. We’ve lamented\, we’ve grieved; now it’s time to come together to rejoice and RENEW. \n1 Peter 5:10 – After you have suffered a little while\, the God of all grace\, who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus\, will himself restore\, establish\, strengthen\, and support you. \nDates & Locations: \nSaturday July 10th | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Dorchester \nThursday July 22nd | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Medford \nSaturday July 31st | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Roxbury \nSunday August 29 | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Dorchester \n \nWe are grateful for friends of UniteBoston who have graciously opened their backyards for us to host these concerts. Because of the limited capacity of these spaces\, we are requiring registration. Click here to register via Eventbrite. After registration\, you will also receive an email with the specific address of the backyard concert. \nAlso: We welcome all artists and creative-types to participate in the open mic portion of the concerts! Click here to sign up to share a song\, spoken word poem\, dance\, or visual artistic piece during the open mic series. We seek to create an environment that is welcoming to people of all skill levels. \nPlease help us to spread the word to colleagues\, friends\, and neighbors – a great way to do this is through the Facebook event. All are welcome!
