SUMMARY:Prophetic Leadership Principles
DESCRIPTION:Greater Boston\, this is a season for depth.\n\nSPL1000: Prophetic Principles is the gateway course of the School of Prophetic Leadership — designed for believers who sense a call to hear clearly\, discern biblically\, and lead with integrity. In a time when voices are loud and clarity is rare\, this course grounds you in Scripture\, spiritual formation\, and tested prophetic foundations.\n\nThis is not hype. This is formation.\n\nOver this journey\, you’ll explore how revelation\, interpretation\, and application work together. You’ll grow in discernment before declaration\, character before commissioning\, and structure before expansion. Whether you serve in church\, marketplace\, intercession\, or culture\, SPL1000 strengthens your spiritual depth and leadership maturity.\n\nIf you’re called to speak\, lead\, or build — but want to be rooted first — this is your next step.\n\nRegistration is open. Join us and build on foundations that last.

SUMMARY:Holy Hour in Christian Unity
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow local Christians on Thursday February 12 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm to worship\, pray and adore Jesus as we seek greater unity in the body of Christ. \nHosted by St. Mary’s Hakuna – a community dedicated to a joyful “Eucharistic lifestyle” – and in partnership with UniteBoston\, who nurtures unity among diverse Christians through relationships for the flourishing of the city. Join us to worship Jesus together as one body\, followed by an informal social hangout! \nRSVP is not required\, but if you know you will attend\, please RSVP here to help gauge food and drink for afterwards. Also\, parking is available at the church! \n\n“All who accept Christ as Lord and Savior are brothers and sisters in Christ. Evangelicals and Catholics are brothers and sisters in Christ. We have not chosen one another\, just as we have not chosen Christ. He has chosen us\, and he has chosen us to be his together. However imperfect our communion with one another\, however deep our disagreements with one another\, we recognize that there is but one church of Christ. There is one church because there is one Christ and the church is his body” – The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium\, FirstThings\, May 1994    \n \n“True Christian unity\, we believe\, is not so much a goal to be achieved as a gift to be received”\n \n“As Evangelicals and Catholics\, we pray that our unity in the love of Christ will become ever more evident as a sign to the world of God’s reconciling power”.\n\n*The four statements are The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium\, 1994\, The Gift of Salvation\, 1997\, Your Word is Truth\, 2002 and The Communion of Saints\, 2003. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a two-day\, highly interactive Media Ministry Conference at Bethel A.M.E. Church on Friday\, January 30th and Saturday\, January 31st. This conference is designed to train and equip media ministry teams from across Boston through hands-on learning\, real-time problem solving\, and practical instruction led by experienced coaches. \nFriday Night – Interactive Service Simulation (7:00–9:30 PM)\nFriday night opens with a unique worship service designed specifically for training. Throughout the evening\, the service will be intentionally paused to highlight real audiovisual challenges that churches face every Sunday. \nParticipants will rotate into the media booth to: \n\n\nidentify problems\, \n\n\ntroubleshoot under pressure\, \n\n\nand attempt to restore the service flow in real time. \n\n\nTeams will have limited time to solve each issue\, and the night concludes with a live Q&A that breaks down what happened and why. This interactive kickoff gives attendees rare practice in a safe\, guided environment. \n\nSaturday – Full Day of Hands-On Workshops (9:30 AM–5:00 PM)\nSaturday offers a full schedule of practical\, skill-building workshops covering: \n\n\nGraphics & visual design \n\n\nSound mixing in challenging spaces \n\n\nStage and lighting design \n\n\nCamera switching & directing \n\n\nProPresenter workflows \n\n\nEach workshop includes live demonstrations\, guided practice\, and real tools\, allowing attendees to learn by doing—not just listening. \nBAVCon26 is created for churches that want to strengthen their media ministry\, improve the Sunday experience\, and build confident\, skilled volunteers. Through immersive activities\, teamwork\, and expert instruction\, attendees will walk away better equipped to serve with excellence.

SUMMARY:Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
DESCRIPTION:The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an international initiative where Christians worldwide are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17:21). Locally\, UniteBoston coordinates evening collaborative gatherings of fellowship\, prayer and worship from January 18-25 annually. \n\n\n\nThis Year’s Theme: Drawing from the resilience and liturgical richness of the Christians of Armenia—Oriental Orthodox\, Catholic\, and Evangelical—this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity invites us to reflect on Ephesians 4:4: “There is one body and one Spirit\, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” As the first nation to officially embrace Christianity in 301 CE\, Armenia offers a profound witness to unity that has survived centuries of persecution and displacement. The materials for 2026 highlight that our shared identity is rooted in a ancient covenant\, symbolized by the safe arrival of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat and the promise of the rainbow. By focusing on our common vocation and the “one hope” of salvation\, we are challenged to move beyond historical divisions toward a conversion of heart\, practicing a unity that embraces diversity while remaining steadfast in the love and mission of Christ. \n\n\n\nMark Your Calendars – You are invited to mark your calendars and plan to attend the evening gatherings! In this time of Epiphany\, we encourage you to receive the manifestation of Jesus Christ through those of different denominations\, races and cultures. Let’s make the most of these opportunities in order to truly be the family of God and serve as the body of Christ in the world. Let’s also pray with our feet – consider how our beliefs can come together in common action and witness. \n\n\n\nSpread the Word – We also appreciate help spreading the word to people in your congregation\, family\, friends\, and neighbors. A personal invitation goes a long way. \n\n\n\nUB Board Devotionals – This year for the Week of Prayer\, the UniteBoston Board and Staff will be sharing video devotional and prayers\, which will be shared on our social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram! \n\n\n\nCalling to mind our common commitment to ‘love thy neighbor\,’ may the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, January 18-25\, 2025 be full of moments of conversion of heart through our encounters\, so that “all may be one.” \n\n\n\n\n\nResources for Your Week of Prayer Experience\n\n\n\nLitany for Christian Unity \n\n\n\nChristian Unity Daily Prayer Guide – Created by the Greymoor Institute or The Initiative \n\n\n\nIntroduction on the Theme from Greymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Initiative \n\n\n\nAs you are able\, please also share this invitation with other churches and communities in your network so that more communities may gather to pray at this pivotal time in our country and city. \n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule for Gatherings in Boston & New England\n\n\n\n*All events are free and open to all.* \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThurs January 15  – Taizé Prayer with the Sisters of St. Joseph  \n\n\n\n7:00 to 7:45pm at Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph\, 637 Cambridge St\, Brighton\, MA 02135 \n\n\n\nTaizé prayer is a simple form of Christian prayer centered on scripture\, silence\, and song based on the daily prayer of the religious community in Taizé\, France. SUMMARY:Christmas Eve at ICE Burlington
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to this event\, coordinated by the Massachusetts Council of Churches and supported by Bearing Witness at Burlington and UniteBoston. \nWe gather to worship with those Christians held inside the ICE facility\, to pray for the families and loved ones from whom they are separated\, and to proclaim the Good News of Christ’s birth\, in the very face of these injustices and terrors of current policies.  We will pray\, read of the birth of Jesus\, and sing hymns and carols.  We will witness to the light of Christ that comes into the darkness\, in our time and always. \n10 am – 11 am Christmas Eve 2025\n1000 District Ave. Burlington\, MA \nThis Christmas Eve\, we will unite the Body of Christ in worship. \nWalls of detention facilities cannot divide the Body of Christ. \nDocumentation status cannot divide the Body of Christ. \nWe are united by Jesus Christ\, whose love is greater than anything that divides us. \nImportant Details: \nHere are the final details for Christmas Eve Day Worship\, to ensure that you can plan and have a clear picture of our gathering for worship. Also\, this gathering was featured in the Religion News Service – read the article here!  \nTRANSPORT and PARKING \nThis is by far the trickiest part of our plans. Please take public transit\, if at all possible. \nFor those coming from metro Boston: take the Red Line to Alewife and take the 350 Bus to Burlington Mall.  Get off at this stop: Burlington Mall Rd @ NE Executive Pk. Head down District Ave.\, which should be right in front of you. \nIf you drive\, please carpool.  You may plan to drop people off at 1000 District Ave.\, but please know that you cannot park at 1000 District Ave. \nPLEASE ALLOT AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EXTRA FOR OFF-SITE PARKING. \nYour best option is to park at Simonds Park\, or the surrounding roads as marked. \nThe 350 bus stops at the corner of Cambridge St. and Bedford St.\, toward Burlington Mall/Alewife. It is only a 5-10 minute ride. Please arrive very early\, as the buses reduce in frequency after rush hour. \nThus\, another option: after parking near Simonds Park\, head to the Burlington Church UCC\, across the street.  Rev. Andrew Harris and the amazing leaders of the UCC Burlington church are offering shuttles to the ICE facility. \nOTHER PARKING OPTIONS: \nThere is very limited street parking along District Ave\, toward Burlington Mall Rd.  You may luck out\, but don’t rely on it! \n6 District Ave. parking is listed as a Free Parking.  It may be used by mall shoppers.  Not sure how security works there.  Park at your own risk. \nYou can try to park at Burlington Mall\, which is very close by.  However\, it will be quite full because of Christmas Eve shopping.  Additionally\, when we requested assistance with parking from mall management\, they declined to help.  If you do park there\, please go to the mall\, otherwise security may stop you.  They have been ticketing people who do not go to the mall.  Park at your own risk\, sadly. \nAdditionally\, there are other businesses and buildings in the office park on District Ave.  We do not know whether they will have security or whether they will tow.  It is Christmas Eve\, so it could go either way.  So\, again\, park at your own risk. \nWORSHIP: \nPlease understand that this is true\, sincere worship.  Please do not bring signs or engage with this event as a protest.  While those forms of witness are essential at other times\, this gathering is a service of prayer\, song\, and telling the story of Christ’s birth\, worshiping as closely as possible with those held inside.  So think of this as “going to church\,” and not “going to a protest.” \nROLES: \nClergy: you are welcome to vest and process.  Please wear whatever vestment is appropriate for worship in your tradition and appropriate to an outdoor\, ecumenical liturgy of prayer and worship\, without Communion.  Copes\, preaching robes\, Geneva robes\, cassocks and surplices\, or just street clothes.  If you are wearing a stole\, please wear white/gold or whatever color you wear for festive events.  (We are going for “joy in the face of crisis\,” as opposed to lament or uplifting the martyrs in the Spirit). \nHowever your tradition does it\, please show up like that.  The idea is that we all represent our particular denominations and traditions and trust that it will be beautiful in God’s eyes and a powerful reminder of how strong we are when we stand together in Christ. \nChoir: you are welcome to wear your robes (or not\, if that’s not your tradition)\, and to join a pick up choir.  Again\, we are not aiming for visual uniformity\, but diversity.  We are aiming to have one purpose\, not one “look.” \nWe will have a music director\, the incredible Eric Anderson Jr.\, who will conduct.  We may have a keyboard\, but please prepare to sing a cappella. \nOur hymn list: \n\nO Come\, All Ye Faithful\nO Little Town of “Burlington”\nJoy to the World\nAway in a Manger\nGo Tell It on the Mountain\n\nAcolytes/Vergers/Subdeacons/Altar Servers:  You are welcome to vest and process as well\, if you wish.  The more the merrier.  But please do NOT bring your crosses/candles/thuribles\, etc.  To avoid confusion\, we cannot have multiple people in those roles.  We will indeed have a censor\, worry not! \nGreeters: We need greeters to help welcome people in\, distribute bulletins (mostly electronically)\, distribute candles\, and provide a warm welcome.  Come as you are.  But come early. \nWeather: We plan to hold this event in any weather\, if at all possible.  Please dress and plan accordingly.  Wear many layers\, if you are not accustomed to being outdoors for long.  Especially consider wearing extra socks and thick shoes.  If you are vesting\, please wear thick layers under your robes.  We will be standing outside for over an hour in whatever weather there is. \nAbout the site: There is NO seating provided. This is an outdoor lawn in an office park\, and we do not have a way to bring in chairs.  If you require a seat\, you are welcome to bring one with you\, and anyone with mobility concerns or concerns about standing for an hour may sit right up front.  But we cannot provide chairs for everyone. \nINFORMED DECISIONS: \nWe invite you to take time to make informed decisions about whether this is the place for you to be.  We are gathering in a place that has been designated for First Amendment expressions. We are gathering to worship\, which is our First Amendment right.   It is protected by local law enforcement and longstanding agreements with DHS/ICE staff over many months.  We do not anticipate any issues with ICE staff or local law enforcement. \nBut while the Good News of Christ’s birth is full of hope\, we proclaim it at a place that launches much violence into our communities.  This facility is an active enforcement and detention center.  Please know ICE agents may be coming and going on their business.  If being in such a place might be unsafe for you or your loved ones in any way\, please consider those risks carefully.  This may be due to your experiences at the facility or others like it\, or your own documentation status\, or your own previous experiences with law enforcement\, or any other history or concerns.  We want you to take the risks you can bear.  Your presence does not need to be physical: if it is not the right decision for you to be physically present with us at the facility\, please join us in prayer from home or your home congregation.  God is everywhere and will unite us as the Body of Christ\, no matter where we are.  Video of the event will be made available shortly afterward. \nThanks also to our friends and colleagues at UniteBoston who are co-sponsoring this event\, and the clergy leaders of Bearing Witness at Burlington.

SUMMARY:Revelation in Ecumenical Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:As a part of the Reformation Commentary on Scripture series\, Rodney L. Petersen\, (PhD\, Princeton) along with Gerald L. Bray (PhD\, La Sorbonne) have co-edited and published the volume on the highly enigmatic and consequential Book of Revelation under InterVarsity Press. Sixteenth-century Reformers\, much like interpreters today\, show a diversity of opinion on how Revelation is to be understood\, whether through more spiritual and Last Judgment connotations\, or as a snapshot in historical context. Much like the vast social and political upheaval in the time of the Reformation\, we have called upon Rodney and his colleagues to remark upon Revelation in ecumenical perspectives today. Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM) and the Boston Theological Interreligious consortium (BTI)\, two of Rodney’s previous places of directorship\, are helping to put this conversation together with friends—at the Boston University Marsh Chapel on Thursday\, November 20\, 2025\, from 3-5pm—for an afternoon of retrospection and future revelation. (This will also be\, in a way\, an opening for AAR/SBL Boston\, which begins the next day.) Click here to purchase the book \nPROGRAM SUBJECT TO CHANGE \n\nWelcome: Dr. Stephanie Edwards (BTI) and Dean Robert Allan Hill (BU)\nBTI International Mission and Ecumenism reflections on the book: Dr. Meg Guider (BC) and Dr. Todd Johnson (GCTS)\nPractical implications: Rev. Dr. Casely Essamuah and Dr. George Walters-Sleyon\nThank you/closing prayer/last word: Rev. Dr. Rodney Petersen and Thomas W. Porter\, Jr.\, Esq.

SUMMARY:Pilgrimage to Taizé Community in France in March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Spend March 13–22\, 2026 immersed in the Taizé Community — an ecumenical monastic community in the French countryside known for its simple living\, contemplative worship\, and a radical commitment to Christian unity. Each year\, thousands of young adults from around the world gather there to pray through music\, engage in Scripture\, serve together\, and build deep friendships across cultural and denominational lines. \nThis pilgrimage is for young adults ages 18–35. We’re hoping to bring a group of Christian pilgrims from many different traditions across Greater Boston and beyond! \nHosted by Rev. Rita Powell\, Episcopal Chaplain at Harvard University\, with Rev. Kelly Fassett from UniteBoston co-hosting this experience. \nThe cost for the pilgrimage is $2200. We will do what we can to make sure finances are not a barrier for anyone who feels God’s invitation to join in this experience. \nSign up here. The final payments will be made in the spring but this is due December 10th along with a $500 deposit to claim your spot on the trip! Please email nbuice@hds.harvard.edu with any questions. \nJoin us in worship\, prayer\, fellowship — and a taste of God’s global church.

SUMMARY:United Gospel Experience Tour
DESCRIPTION:Our finale concert for the 2025-2026 United Gospel Experience Tour will be on Saturday April 18 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Morningstar Baptist Church\, 1257 Blue Hill Ave\, Mattapan\, MA 02126. \nCentered on the theme “Come together\, stay together\, worship together” (Mt. 18:20)\, the tour centers on Jesus’ promise that “where two or three gather in my name\, there am I with them.” In these challenging times\, our prayer is that\, through this united worship\, God’s Spirit will move mightily to bring healing\, reconciliation\, and new life. We’ve discovered that when students from across New England join their voices in one choir\, gospel music rises as a powerful proclamation of hope and freedom. \nPlease help us spread the word by spreading the word to local pastors and congregations through our invite letter!  \nClick here to read the story behind this year’s tour and how you can be part of it. And don’t miss this documentary of highlights and testimonies from last year’s gospel experience tour! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Awake Boston- with Sean McDowell
DESCRIPTION:Awake Boston is  a two-night event designed to mobilize Christians toward awakening and renewal. \nOn October 24\, 2025 at 6:00 PM Dr. Sean McDowell with lead a Master Class titled “If God\, Why Evil” \nThe problem of evil and suffering is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges raised against God. Christians must respond empathetically\, but also with truth. Sean begins this session by providing a helpful road map for personally helping people who are suffering. He then tackles the intellectual challenge of evil\, showing that the existence of evil itself is actually a positive proof for the existence of God\, and that the so-called “problem of evil” does not pose a trenchant problem for the Christian faith. \nAn “Open Mic” Q&A time with Sean will immediately follow his presentation. \nTickets Available Here \n
