SUMMARY:United Gospel Experience Tour
DESCRIPTION:Our finale concert for the 2025-2026 United Gospel Experience Tour will be on Saturday April 18 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Morningstar Baptist Church\, 1257 Blue Hill Ave\, Mattapan\, MA 02126. \nCentered on the theme “Come together\, stay together\, worship together” (Mt. 18:20)\, the tour centers on Jesus’ promise that “where two or three gather in my name\, there am I with them.” In these challenging times\, our prayer is that\, through this united worship\, God’s Spirit will move mightily to bring healing\, reconciliation\, and new life. We’ve discovered that when students from across New England join their voices in one choir\, gospel music rises as a powerful proclamation of hope and freedom. \nPlease help us spread the word by spreading the word to local pastors and congregations through our invite letter!  \nClick here to read the story behind this year’s tour and how you can be part of it. And don’t miss this documentary of highlights and testimonies from last year’s gospel experience tour! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Awake Boston- with Sean McDowell
DESCRIPTION:Awake Boston is  a two-night event designed to mobilize Christians toward awakening and renewal. \nOn October 24\, 2025 at 6:00 PM Dr. Sean McDowell with lead a Master Class titled “If God\, Why Evil” \nThe problem of evil and suffering is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges raised against God. Christians must respond empathetically\, but also with truth. Sean begins this session by providing a helpful road map for personally helping people who are suffering. He then tackles the intellectual challenge of evil\, showing that the existence of evil itself is actually a positive proof for the existence of God\, and that the so-called “problem of evil” does not pose a trenchant problem for the Christian faith. \nAn “Open Mic” Q&A time with Sean will immediately follow his presentation. \nTickets Available Here \n

SUMMARY:Prayers for Liberty
DESCRIPTION:Dear Massachusetts Residents of All Faiths: \nWe are writing to you with an invitation to pray with your feet and march with us from Lexington to Boston this Labor Day – Monday\, September 1st\, 9:00-5:00 – to sound the alarm for American democracy and to demand a more just and humane democracy that honors our shared sacred values. \nOn Friday\, May 30th\, hundreds of us marched this same route from Lexington to Boston\, reversing Paul Revere’s ride for liberty 250 years ago to sound the alarm for democracy\, as the actions of our current presidential administration regularly violate our shared sacred values and our constitutional rights. We stopped in Lexington\, Arlington\, Cambridge\, and Boston to pray to God for the merciful and just rule of law from our federal administration\, as well as the protection and preservation of our sacred values and democratic principles. We also brought a letter signed by over 300 Massachusetts clergy\, addressed to members of our Congressional Delegation. \nTo join any portion of the march and prayers on September 1st\, please register here. \nIf you have questions or would like more information\, our leadership team will host question and response sessions for clergy and other religious leaders over zoom on Thursday\, August 14th\, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. and on Tuesday\, August 19th from 8:30-9:15 a.m. \nA printable flyer and handout to share with friends\, family\, and congregations is available here. \nJoin us on September 1st in our call to religious leaders around the country\, and all our fellow Americans: calling for our President to obey the law and to respect the decisions of our courts and the rights of all American residents. \nIn our faith traditions and our American tradition\, the President is not a dictator or tyrant. Instead\, “the Law is King\, and no person is above the law.” (Thomas Paine\, Common Sense) \nIn Faith\, Hope\, and Power\, \nThe Prayer for Freedom Organizing Team \n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ) \nWhat does the schedule look like on Monday\, September 1st? \n9:00 a.m. Hancock Church – parking\, gathering\, greeting \n9:15 a.m. Opening prayer on Lexington Battle Green \n9:45 a.m. Walk from Lexington to Arlington (~5.3 miles) \n12:00 p.m. Prayer in Arlington Center – The lawn at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Arlington \n12:30  Walk to Cambridge Commons (~3.5 Miles) \n2:30 Prayer in Cambridge Center – Cambridge Commons \n3:00 Walk to Boston Commons – 3.1 to 3.2 miles \n5:00 Boston Prayer and Rally at the Common – Embrace Statue or Common Bandstand \n  \nWho can participate in the march? For what parts? \nPeople of all faiths are invited to participate in any segment. We will walk relatively quickly between stops\, in order to make it to each of our prayer gatherings on time. (See our schedule above.) For our friends who are disabled\, tired\, busy\, etc.\, we welcome participation at any one of the prayer stops in Lexington\, Arlington\, Cambridge\, or especially at our conclusion in Boston in lieu of marching. \n  \nCan I use my clothing\, signage\, and speech to protest other offenses at this event?  \nWhile we respect the conscience\, speech\, and liberty of all our clergy and other participants\, at this event we are focused on the preservation of our shared sacred values and democratic\, constitutional governance. In our prayers and signage\, we ask that participants not mention any other issues\, however important they are to one’s conscience or community. \n  \nWhat should I bring? What should I wear? \nClergy are encouraged to wear any clothing identifying their tradition and/or role. We will have bathroom stops in Arlington and Cambridge. We recommend all participants bring a refillable water bottle\, some snacks in your pocket\, sunscreen and hat\, and comfortable walking shoes! \nFor more information and to register\, go to Prayersforliberty.org

SUMMARY:Be the Movement: Welcome the Stranger
DESCRIPTION:Turn your compassion into action.\nWelcome a Haitian family in New England \nImmigrants built Boston. And now shelters are scheduled to close starting June 30th. When that happens\, Haitian families already vulnerable will be pushed onto the street and into crisis. \nWelcomeNST has identified\, interviewed and vetted families at immediate risk with the Immigrant Family Services Institute in Mattapan. UniteBoston is partnering with them to stand up\, lock arms with your neighbors and form Neighborhood Support Teams (NST) that will welcome these families into your communities. NSTs help vulnerable families secure housing\, navigate schools\, find work\, and become part of your community. \nOur goal is to mobilize 50 Neighborhood Support Teams in Greater Boston to come alongside 50 Immigrant Families.  \nRev. Kelly’s church (Neighborhood Church of Boston) launched a Neighborhood Support Team last year to support a refugee family from the DRC and it has been an incredible experience. \nAs tensions escalate\, this movement enables you to put the superpower of your community to work\, welcoming someone from the outside to the inside. Your community was made for such a time as this. \nJoin for a zoom call next Tuesday August 5 from 6-7pm ET.  Register here. \n\nResources \n\nPartner Toolkit\nRegistration link to the “Welcome the Stranger\, New England!” Zoom on July 9 from 6-7pm\nInterest Form\n“Be the Movement. SUMMARY:Join the Pilot Cohort of the Beloved Community Lab
DESCRIPTION:Monthly on Tuesdays\, 11:00AM–2:00PM | Starts September 16 | $750 Stipend | Application Due August 15 \n – Do you long to be in a community of Boston-based leaders from a variety of Christian traditions and backgrounds? \n – How do we follow Jesus’ call to love our neighbors – and our enemies – without losing our convictions? \n – Do you want to explore how conflict can strengthen our connections to one another instead of fracturing us apart?  \n – Do you long for the Church to be known for what we are for\, rather than what we are against?  \n – Do you desire to be an ambassador of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:20) and want to grow in learning how to lead your community in the peacemaking\, reconciling Way of Jesus?   –  \nIf these questions stir up something inside you\, then the Beloved Community Lab might be for you! \n\nA New Kind of Leadership for our Divided Time \nDespite Jesus’ clear mandate for unity and welcoming all to the table\, churches remain some of the most divided institutions in our society. With over 45\,000 Christian denominations and countless divides over race\, gender\, theology\, and politics\, the Church’s fractured witness stands in stark contrast to Jesus’ prayer that we would be one (John 17). \nA team of diverse Christian leaders in Boston recognized this gap and came together to ask: \nWhat kind of discipleship is needed to form leaders who uphold God’s call for unity and oneness in today’s world? \nThrough prayer\, study\, and listening\, UniteBoston has been on a two-year journey of developing the Beloved Community Lab\, a unique opportunity for Boston-area Christian leaders to come together across lines of difference to learn and practice unity\, justice\, and reconciliation in their leadership contexts. \nWe call this a “lab” because it combines core theological concepts with real-world application through case studies\, interactive exercises\, and spiritual practices. This cohort is a space for spiritual formation—shaping leaders into peacemakers and reconcilers\, growing into the life and way of Jesus.  \nThe things that are keeping us part are deep-rooted: we need a vision of togetherness that doesn’t only lean into our differences but also brings about holistic gospel transformation. If we want to see a different kind of world and a more embodied Christian witness\, we must become different kinds of people. Our pilot Beloved Community Lab cohort is an experiment in Christian unity that seeks to change not just what we know\, but how we live. \n\nDetails  \nWHEN: Tuesdays from 11:00AM–2:00PM\nFORMAT: Monthly gatherings in-person (Greater Boston Area) or Zoom\nSTIPEND: $750 for full participation\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: August 15\, 2025\nWHO SHOULD APPLY:\nChristian leaders in Greater Boston who value unity\, reconciliation\, and justice—and want to grow in living these out. We are seeking to convene a cohort community of stakeholders that come from a wide range of denominational\, theological\, racial/ethnic\, and generational backgrounds to shape the curriculum during its pilot stage. \nClick here to see the Beloved Community Lab Cohort PDF to learn more about the vision\, dates\, core competencies\, and more. We will be choosing 15 pastoral leaders from diverse backgrounds and we do have $750 stipends to honor leaders for their time and participation. \nWe believe there’s no better time than now for Christ followers to prioritize the ministry of reconciliation by engaging well across our deep differences – serving as peacemakers in our fractured world. Today’s algorithms and silos will seek to keep us fractured and divided\, but God calls us to a different way.  \nApply by August 15 to join the Pilot Cohort!  \nWe look forward to learning with you!

SUMMARY:Jesus and Justice Sunday\, April 27\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:35 “For I was hungry and you gave me food\, I was thirsty and you gave me drink\, I was a stranger and you welcomed me\, 36 I was naked and you clothed me\, I was sick and you visited me\, I was in prison and you came to me.”  Matthew 25:35-36 \nJesus calls us to show the love of God to everyone\, especially to the most vulnerable of our society\, the ones He calls “the least of these.”  Because they are the most marginalized\, the most powerless\, and the most unseen among us\, they are often overlooked\, exploited\, and given blame for the difficulties of our society. \nOn April 27\, 2025\,  Jesus and Justice Sunday\, we are asking Clergy across greater Boston to do as Jesus commands and preach messages of Hope and Compassion\, Mercy and Justice for the members of our communities who are suffering and are being labeled as targets. \nWill you preach –from an Old or New Testament passage— a message of Biblical Social Justice for the least of these our brothers and sisters?  We hope so.  We hope that you will join us in fulfilling that Second and Great Commandment\, to love our neighbors as ourselves.
