SUMMARY:Step into Black History: Footsoldiers
DESCRIPTION:How Everyday People from the Civil Rights Movement Continue to Inspire & Inform Anti-racist Action Today\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Black Freedom Movement of the 1950’s and 60’s called upon everyday people to take a stand against racism. As folks answered this call\, they became known as foot soldiers and\, collectively\, their actions contributed to the success of the movement \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn June 2024\, The Race & Christian Community Initiative (RCCI) convened 9 people from Boston to embark on a Southern Civil Rights Pilgrimage where we had the opportunity to meet with foot soldiers. Courageous Conversations Toward Racial Justice has invited some of these local pilgrims to share how their encounters with foot soldiers informed their understanding of activism and inspire them to take action today. The framing and introduction for this panel will be offered by John Williams\, Executive Director of the Center for Restorative Justice (CFRJ). The CFRJ hosts these Southern Civil Right Pilgrimages and will share about how you could participate in such an experience this summer or beyond. \nPlease RSVP HERE – Zoom link will be provided after RSVP.

SUMMARY:Looking Back to Move Forward: Stories from the Boston Sankofa Journey
DESCRIPTION:Join us as our Boston Sankofa Journey members reflect on nine months of exploring Boston’s historical landmarks tied to the legacy of slavery\, the Black freedom movement\, and the role of churches in both supporting and resisting slavery. Through personal stories and creative storytelling\, they will share transformative moments and how they are carrying these experiences forward.\n\nThis event invites you to engage in a journey of truth-telling\, healing\, and justice\, connecting our narratives to Boston’s local history. Recognizing that many other leaders are engaged in similar work within their institutions\, we’ll also open a dialogue on how we might strengthen the collective movement toward racial equity\, justice and repair in our city. \nThis gathering will take place at the Historic Myrtle Baptist Church\, a hub for social justice and civil rights advocacy and a cornerstone of Newton’s African American community. You are welcome to come early to explore the physical displays where they have catalogued their history. \nSankofa\, a Ghanaian term meaning “to learn from the past to inform the future\,” inspires this journey. Come listen\, share\, and be part of this meaningful conversation and action-taking at this influential moment in our city and country. \n\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Gordon Conwell's East Asian Christianity Conference
DESCRIPTION:In recent decades\, Christianity has witnessed meaningful expansion across East Asia\, thoughtfully navigating persecution\, cultural integration\, and interreligious dialogue. The East Asian Christianity Conference aims to harness these experiences\, offering a platform for comparative research and practical application in church ministry and mission. \nThrough this collaborative endeavor\, prominent scholars from the East and West\, church leaders\, and front-line missionaries along with students and faculty from the Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium (BTI)\, will engage in critical discussions about Christianity’s place and promise in East Asia. Bolling Building. This is an evening of celebration with food\, fun\, and an opportunity to partner with us in our bridge-building work. \nOur team has chosen the theme of “fortify” for this season of UniteBoston\, as it is a pivotal moment for Christians to fortify the foundation that we are standing on. At UniteBoston\, we are working to equip Christians to be peacemakers and bridge-builders—agents of unity\, reconciliation\, justice\, and repair in a fractured world. These aren’t just lofty ideals but actionable values that should shape the way Christians engage with one another and everyone they meet. Through intentional convening and discipleship\, we are nurturing a “beloved community” where Christ’s love can overcome even the most entrenched divides. \nThis year’s event will feature a special keynote address by Rev. Michelle Sanchez\, author of Color-Courageous Discipleship and Beloved Community. Rev. Sanchez is currently serving as a coach for our curriculum development\, and we are excited to glean from her perspective. This will be followed by a conversation with Rev. Kelly and Rev. Devlin and testimonies of impact by our team. \nThis gathering will take place in Nubian Square. SUMMARY:Good Friday Worship Service- 7 Last Words of Christ Jesus
DESCRIPTION:The seven last words of Jesus Christ\, recorded in the Gospels\, are significant in our Christian tradition. They provide a profound opportunity for reflection and understanding\, particularly during the Lenten season and on Good Friday. Many view these words as a fulfillment of messianic prophecies and a demonstration of Jesus’s mission to save us from our sins. \nWe invite you to the Good Friday Worship Service\, The Seven Last Words of Christ Jesus\, hosted by BMATenpoint on Friday April 18 from 12pm to 3pm at St John Missionary Baptist Church. The preaching promises to be both powerful and inspiring! \n\nAlso\, we invite you to take time to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and to celebrate His glorious triumph over sin and death with our digital Holy Week Devotional. \nTo access the devotional\, simply click here and scroll down (it can also be accessed here).  We hope these thoughtful writings\, created by the clergy leaders of BMA TenPoint\, will help you draw closer to Him during this meaningful Easter season.

SUMMARY:Join the Pilot Cohort of the Beloved Community Lab
DESCRIPTION:Monthly on Tuesdays\, 11:00AM–2:00PM | Starts September 16 | $750 Stipend | Application Due August 15 \n – Do you long to be in a community of Boston-based leaders from a variety of Christian traditions and backgrounds? \n – How do we follow Jesus’ call to love our neighbors – and our enemies – without losing our convictions? \n – Do you want to explore how conflict can strengthen our connections to one another instead of fracturing us apart?  \n – Do you long for the Church to be known for what we are for\, rather than what we are against?  \n – Do you desire to be an ambassador of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:20) and want to grow in learning how to lead your community in the peacemaking\, reconciling Way of Jesus?   –  \nIf these questions stir up something inside you\, then the Beloved Community Lab might be for you! \n\nA New Kind of Leadership for our Divided Time \nDespite Jesus’ clear mandate for unity and welcoming all to the table\, churches remain some of the most divided institutions in our society. With over 45\,000 Christian denominations and countless divides over race\, gender\, theology\, and politics\, the Church’s fractured witness stands in stark contrast to Jesus’ prayer that we would be one (John 17). \nA team of diverse Christian leaders in Boston recognized this gap and came together to ask: \nWhat kind of discipleship is needed to form leaders who uphold God’s call for unity and oneness in today’s world? \nThrough prayer\, study\, and listening\, UniteBoston has been on a two-year journey of developing the Beloved Community Lab\, a unique opportunity for Boston-area Christian leaders to come together across lines of difference to learn and practice unity\, justice\, and reconciliation in their leadership contexts. \nWe call this a “lab” because it combines core theological concepts with real-world application through case studies\, interactive exercises\, and spiritual practices. This cohort is a space for spiritual formation—shaping leaders into peacemakers and reconcilers\, growing into the life and way of Jesus.  \nThe things that are keeping us part are deep-rooted: we need a vision of togetherness that doesn’t only lean into our differences but also brings about holistic gospel transformation. If we want to see a different kind of world and a more embodied Christian witness\, we must become different kinds of people. Our pilot Beloved Community Lab cohort is an experiment in Christian unity that seeks to change not just what we know\, but how we live. \n\nDetails  \nWHEN: Tuesdays from 11:00AM–2:00PM\nFORMAT: Monthly gatherings in-person (Greater Boston Area) or Zoom\nSTIPEND: $750 for full participation\nAPPLICATION DEADLINE: August 15\, 2025\nWHO SHOULD APPLY:\nChristian leaders in Greater Boston who value unity\, reconciliation\, and justice—and want to grow in living these out. We are seeking to convene a cohort community of stakeholders that come from a wide range of denominational\, theological\, racial/ethnic\, and generational backgrounds to shape the curriculum during its pilot stage. \nClick here to see the Beloved Community Lab Cohort PDF to learn more about the vision\, dates\, core competencies\, and more. We will be choosing 15 pastoral leaders from diverse backgrounds and we do have $750 stipends to honor leaders for their time and participation. \nWe believe there’s no better time than now for Christ followers to prioritize the ministry of reconciliation by engaging well across our deep differences – serving as peacemakers in our fractured world. Today’s algorithms and silos will seek to keep us fractured and divided\, but God calls us to a different way.  \nApply by August 15 to join the Pilot Cohort!  \nWe look forward to learning with you!

SUMMARY:Confronting Boston’s Legacy of Slavery: The Power of Faith and the Art of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:When: Monday\, September 15\, 2025 • 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM\nWhere: Museum of African American History\, 46 Joy Street\, Boston\, MA\nAdmission: Free \n\nDescription:\nJoin us for an illuminating panel discussion focused on Boston’s often-hidden history with slavery\, and on how faith and the arts can help us remember\, confront\, and heal from that legacy. Together we’ll explore how stories from the past shape our present\, and how remembrance—through words\, worship\, and creative expression—can inspire justice and reconciliation. \n\nSpeakers:\n\nDr. Kabria Baumgartner — historian and public scholar who brings insight into Boston’s social and cultural past.\nRev. Willie Bodrick II — bringing perspective from faith\, community\, and practice.\nRev. Joy Fallon — sharing reflections on spiritual life and memory.\nHarmonia Rosales — visual artist whose work invites us to re-imagine\, re-vision\, and reconcile with histories often left unspoken.\n\n\nWhy this matters:\n\nTo deepen our collective understanding of Boston’s role in slavery — not just historically\, but in how its legacy continues to influence institutions and communities.\nTo engage with how faith communities and artistic voices can act together as catalysts for remembrance\, healing\, and justice.\nTo offer an opportunity for reflection and conversation in a historic space\, with a diverse panel committed to uplifting stories from the margins.
