We’re moved and inspired by our Christian belief \nthat every person has intrinsic value\, and that it’s our responsibility to advocate for the poor and marginalized without regard to race\, creed or nationality and without adverse distinction of any kind. We serve on the basis of need alone. SUMMARY:Race & Christian Community Initiative Cohorts 2020: Learning Communities for White Evangelicals
DESCRIPTION:Race & Christian Community Initiative cohorts are communities where Christians can learn about racism from a biblical perspective and develop the capacity to respond to it as an outworking of their faith. RCCI cohorts for fall 2020 are designed for White leaders shaped by the evangelical tradition\, and aim to create a space where they can come together to learn and do the self-work needed to engage issues related to race more effectively. RCCI understands leadership broadly and welcomes formal and informal leadership alike.  \nCohorts are six-month commitments through which people examine and respond to the ways racism impacts ourselves\, our society\, our Christian communities\, and faith. They are run in a seminar-style format for small groups of 6-8 people and utilize various methods\, including engaging books and media\, guest speakers\, discussion\, spiritual disciplines\, creative exercises\, and field trips. Cohorts value experiential and peer learning and aim to get beyond an intellectual understanding of race by engaging the whole person in mind\, body\, emotions\, and spirit. \nAt the end of each cohort\, participants go through an individual and communal discernment process regarding how they can take actions to contribute to the dismantling of racism in their sphere of influence. All alumni are also invited into RCCI’s support and accountability groups to receive ongoing resources to move from knowing and caring to action. \nRCCI will be offering two online\, inter-ministry cohorts for White people starting in mid-Oct. 2020. One group will be held on Tuesday evenings and another will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. These cohorts are offered at no financial cost to participants. \nVisit www.egc.org/racecohort to learn more or apply. \nIf you are interested in having RCCI offer a customized cohort experience to your organization’s leadership team\, email mlietz@egc.org. \nWe are also visioning and building so we can offer cohorts for people of color in the future.

SUMMARY:COVID-19 COMPASSION- Sow into Local Refugees
DESCRIPTION:Refugee-led Covid-19 Campaign  Click on this link  \n\n\n\nZiah Mission Baptist Church \n30 Gordon Street \nAllston\, MA 02134 \nMay 28\, 2019 \n\nDear Brothers and Sisters: \n         Greetings and best wishes. I thank God for healing my family infected by Covid-19. I thank God for the brother and sister who saved our lives by providing an apartment where my children were sheltered safely from the deadly virus spreading in our over crowded apartment.  I write to appeal for assistance for our Deacon’s Fund as we face serious financial challenges during the Coronavirus Pandemic. \n\n\n\nOver 6000 Liberian Refugee families denied permits to work have been unemployed for decades \n\n\nLiberians were unjustifiably denied permits to work by the US Government\, an ongoing effect of racist acts of Congress that removed and banished Native Americans and African Americans from the USA on March 3\, 1819 and the Indian Removal Act of 1830. \n\n\nLooming deadline for filing for a green card under the new Liberian Refugee Fairness Act is December 19\, 2020. \n\n\nWhooping $1500 filing fees for green cards imposed on unemployed Liberian Refugees. A letter from you and your contacts is needed. \n\n\nAssistance with burial costs of a dead unemployed member of our church. \n\n\n\nHow You May help: \n\n\n Share our pain by writing to your member of Congress requesting compassion and coronavirus relief of a blanket waiver of immigration filing fees for all unemployed Liberian beneficiaries of the Liberian Refugee Fairness Act. (A draft letter is attached) Refugees are exempt from immigration filing fees. \n\n\nFinancial assistance to buttress our Deacon’s Fund in assisting to defray burial costs or other pressing family emergencies. An unemployed member just died. \n\n\nCOMPASSION in the Name of Jesus: “I was a stranger…” \nDEEP ROOTS OF AMERICAN RACISM ONGOING RAVAGING OF LIVES IN IMPOVERISHED INDIAN RESERVATIONS AND IN THE AMERICAN COLONY OF LIBERIA AND AMONG 6000 LIBERIAN REFUGEE FAMILIES ACROSS AMERICA FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS…UNDER THE RADAR! \nHere is how I know America’s racist system is rotten to the core\, corrupt and broken by design and needs to be replaced with a more humane system. \nOn March 26\, 1790 the racist US Congress passed the original United States Naturalization Law\, restricting citizenship only to “…white persons of good character…”. It may not be on the books today but descendants of African Americans and Native Americans banished into Indian Reservations and the American Colony of Black Americans in Liberia are still shut out of America\, still suffering the consequences of racist acts of Congress while racism thrives in America. \nLater\, on March 3\, 1819\, the racist US Congress passed a law that made the removal\,  colonization and banishment of all free Black Americans possible\, in partnership with ruthless American Slaveholders of the American Colonization Society (ACS). 80% of the first batch of American emigrants of color removed and colonized in Africa died of malaria. White men were imported to govern the banished African Americans Colonized in Liberia for two decades because Blacks were considered inferior and incapable of self-government. Congress has been complicit in ongoing tortures\, massacres\, rapes and corruption in Liberia\, conveniently out of sight of American Media. \nLastly\, on May 28\, 1830\, President Andrew Jackson signed into law a bill passed by the racist US Congress to remove and banish Native Americans who have lived in America for thousands of years because their color disqualified them from being Americans. Thousands of Native Americans died along the Trail of Tears during the removal-an ongoing crime against humanity! \nA member of the ACS\, President Andrew Jackson championed another disastrous removal of Americans- The Indian Removal ACt of 1830. Some 100\,000 tribesmen were forced to march westward under U.S. military coercion in the 1830s; up to 25 percent of the Indians\, many in manacles\, perished en route.  “By persuasion and force they have been made to retire from river to river and from mountain to mountain\, until some of the tribes have become extinct and others have left but remnants to preserve for a while their once terrible names. Surrounded by the whites with their arts of civilization\, which by destroying the resources of the salvage doom him to weakness and decay.”  Wrote President Andrew Jackson. \nThe 2nd annual report of the American Colonization Society clarified why African Americans were colonized using American Taxpayers money: “...as is most confidently believed\, the colonization of the free people of colour\, will render the slave who remains in America more obedient\, more faithful\, more honest\, and\, consequently\, more useful to his master\, is it proper to regard this happy consequence to both\, as the sole object which the Society hope to attain…” \nTo him or her whom much is given\, much shall be required. Please help the victims of war and racism by participating in both short term and long term solutions to unemployed refugees in their struggles. Please join us by sharing with your contacts. Thanks and may God bless you. \nSincerely Yours\, \nPastor Torli H. Krua / ZIAH MISSION BAPTIST CHURCH/ 857-249-9983

SUMMARY:EGC Virtual Silent Auction
DESCRIPTION:Strengthening Christian leaders to serve urban communities is the heart of Emmanuel Gospel Center’s mission. During the past few months\, Dorchester\, Mattapan\, and other communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19\, and urban Christian leaders continue to be at the center of responding. The recent murder of George Floyd and other Black brothers and sisters\, and the protests following their deaths\, have brought into sharp focus the need for racial justice and community action. This year\, EGC’s silent auction is supporting three ministry partners doing this important work: Agencia ALPHA\, The Black Ministerial Alliance\, and The Massachusetts Council of Churches. \nFor more information\, click here.

SUMMARY:Fundraiser for BHCHP
DESCRIPTION:A team from Park Street Church has been trying to support a local healthcare program for the homeless in their support for the homeless population especially during this season of COVID-19.  In meeting their needs\, we also hope to find ways to gently share the gospel of Christ to both the staff and the homeless individuals and families.  One such need is raising funds to continue serving the homeless.  We have a facebook group going to help us both sell and buy items in which all funds raised will go towards supporting this organization.  This is an ongoing event.  If you are interested in joining us and participating in any way\, please contact me at ahava137@gmail.com.  Thanks!

SUMMARY:Postponed - EGC Annual Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:I was looking forward to hosting EGC’s urban ministry party and fundraiser at Florian Hall on April 4th\, but as you know\, the party is one of many events that has been cancelled due to the current Coronavirus crisis.\n\nThis is an extraordinary time\, and we are all working (many from home\, some from the frontlines) to understand how to address the challenges that are before us. For EGC\, this means our team has begun reaching out to church and Christian leaders to listen to their concerns\, connect them to resources\, and discern how we can work together for fruitful\, aligned engagement.  Our prayer is that churches and leaders will respond well to support each other and love and serve those who are in need around us\, especially those who are most vulnerable. Instead of hosting an in-person or virtual event on April 4th\, I hope that we will be able to invite you to an Open House in our new space in June\, and that we can do our silent auction then as well. In the meantime\, I pray that the Lord will bless you\, keep you\, and lead you.

SUMMARY:AMY GRANT BENEFIT CONCERT FOR HFC ORPHANAGE (HAITI)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night with 6X GRAMMY-Award winning artist Amy Grant to benefit Hope for the Children of Haiti (HFC) with special guest Dan Russell!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT AMY GRANT\nAmy Grant’s career spans more than 30 years and stretches from her roots in gospel into her experience as an iconic pop star\, songwriter\, television personality and philanthropist. Grant is beloved for both her Contemporary Christian music and mainstream hits like “Baby Baby\,” “Every Heartbeat\,” “That’s What Love is For\,” “I Will Remember You\,” “Lead Me On\,” “El Shaddai\,” and more. With three multi-platinum albums\, six platinum albums and four gold albums\, her total career album sales have exceeded 30 million. Grant’s radio chart success has been consistent throughout her career with six No. 1 hits\, 10 Top 40 pop singles\, 17 Top 40 Adult Contemporary tracks and multiple contemporary Christian chart-toppers. In addition to her six GRAMMY® Awards\, Grant has earned 26 GMA Dove Awards (including four Artist of the Year awards)\, was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT HFC\nHope for the Children of Haiti\, Inc. (HFC) operates a children’s home for over 90 orphans and vulnerable children in Bolosse\, one of the most impoverished sections of Port-au-Prince.\nIn addition\, the Marion G. Austin School provides K to 13th grade education for children with the home as well as over 400 children in the Bolosse neighborhood. HFC also provides a robust feeding program to the community to promote healthy nutrition and prevent hunger. Read more at hfchaiti.org \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT DAN RUSSELL\nDan Russell: the artist manager and advocate\, concert promoter\, producer\, creative collaborator\, video and film music supervisor; has helped launch a thousand ships (well\, maybe just a few hundred!) throughout his lengthy resume. As the critical aide-de-camp to dozens of aspiring artists and proven superheroes\, it seems he’s always been in demand through a voluminous 35-year professional career. Is it because he sensed the needs of his ‘client’ and ‘the project’ with such zeal and focus that his friendship and trust inevitably elevated what could have been a mere business liaison? Russell’s reputation in music circles is one of a man willing to stand unwavering in the gap. Working with a small band including his son Jesse\, producer and guitarist Michael J. Pritzl\, plus Rachel Taylor and Ramona Silver on backing vocals; Russell approached the sessions for his first solo album\, Feel the Echoes\, as a rare gift of time given to himself. “Life is a sacred adventure\, a journey\, and it was my time to do this\,” he relates. “People who are sixty have\, like\, 12 records out; I’ve got one! We’ll give you the senior discount for the duration!”

SUMMARY:Single Release Concert & Poetry Night at Charles Street AME
DESCRIPTION:Greetings\, \nI am writing to invite you to a Single Release Concert and Poetry Night at Charles Street AME in Dorchester on June 14th at 7 pm. \nI have been in the United Kingdom for the past 4 years at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland where I recently completed my PhD program. \nMy PhD graduation is on July 10th back in the UK which I will be attending. However\, I don’t want to go alone.  I want to return with my family (four of us). Unfortunately\, I don’t have the funds to purchase four flight tickets and pay for  hotel accommodation for the brief time in the UK.  So\, I decided to release a single I have been working on at a concert and poetry night. Attached is the flyer. \nI will also be singing from my previous two gospel albums\, reading from my upcoming book on Poetic Expressions as well as commenting on social and penal issues from my book: Locked Up and Locked Down: Multitude Lingers in Limbo Revised Edition. Below is the Eventbrite link for more details. Thanks for your support. \nSingle Release Concert and Poetry Night at Charles Street AME \n

There was a wide variety of different races\, cultures\, languages\, denominations and traditions present who were all united in their worship of and devotion to Jesus. Also\, participation in our neighborhood dinners continues to grow. We are now celebrating our one year anniversary since launching these dinners\, and eleven dinner coordinators are now gathering Christians of all backgrounds to reveal Jesus’ love within our neighborhoods and further gospel movement. \nPhoto Credit: Elijah Mickelson\n  \nPhoto Credit: Koo Chung\n \nStaff time and supplies are needed in order to mobilize the Christian community to take part in these initiatives. We would be honored to have your support to build on the momentum that God is bringing forth in this ministry! \nCome and join us for UniteBoston’s Fundraising Party on Thursday November 8th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Bethel AME Church\, 40 Walk Hill Street\, Boston.
