SUMMARY:"That They May Be One" Film Release
DESCRIPTION:In theaters May 19th and 20th only! \n“That They May Be One” – A Docudrama on Unity in Christ\nOn the night before His crucifixion\, Jesus prayed a prayer that still echoes across the Church today: “That they may all be one.” (John 17) \nFeaturing Francis Chan and Christian leaders from across denominations\, That They May Be One is a powerful docudrama exploring how the Holy Spirit has been quietly working across generations to answer that prayer. \nThe film uncovers a remarkable story of God’s providence unfolding for more than a century. From the urgent prayers of St. Elena Guerra\, which inspired Pope Leo XIII to consecrate the twentieth century to the Holy Spirit\, to the dramatic outpouring of the Spirit in Topeka\, the historic revival at Azusa Street\, and the surprising awakening among Catholics at Duquesne University in 1967\, a powerful thread emerges. \nThrough compelling testimony\, historical insight\, and dramatic reenactments of Pentecost and Jesus’ prayer in John 17\, the film reveals the Holy Spirit’s work across denominational lines – calling the Church to renewal\, awakening\, and unity. \nThat They May Be One is more than a documentary – it’s an invitation to rediscover the Spirit who is still moving today. \nLearn More  \nTicket Information Here – Playing in Danvers\, Bellingham\, Marlborough\, Methuen\, and more!

SUMMARY:Solving The World's Greatest Problems
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, May 8 for an 8:30-12:30 dive into Solving the World’s Greatest Problems.  We’re looking to gather 40-50 Christian leaders from across the Boston area to watch a 2 ½ hour videocast of a recent well-regarded event on this topic that included several known Christian leaders (for example\, Tim Tebow).   We’ll then dive into table discussions about what we can do together to actually solve some of the biggest problems that New England faces.  Ideally we’ll come out of this with a rough framework for an action plan with some next steps.  We’ll be meeting at Grace Chapel in Lexington.  Cost is $39\, lunch is included. \nFor more info and to register\, click here

SUMMARY:Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
DESCRIPTION:The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an international initiative where Christians worldwide are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17:21). Locally\, UniteBoston coordinates evening collaborative gatherings of fellowship\, prayer and worship from January 18-25 annually. \n\n\n\nThis Year’s Theme: Drawing from the resilience and liturgical richness of the Christians of Armenia—Oriental Orthodox\, Catholic\, and Evangelical—this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity invites us to reflect on Ephesians 4:4: “There is one body and one Spirit\, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” As the first nation to officially embrace Christianity in 301 CE\, Armenia offers a profound witness to unity that has survived centuries of persecution and displacement. The materials for 2026 highlight that our shared identity is rooted in a ancient covenant\, symbolized by the safe arrival of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat and the promise of the rainbow. By focusing on our common vocation and the “one hope” of salvation\, we are challenged to move beyond historical divisions toward a conversion of heart\, practicing a unity that embraces diversity while remaining steadfast in the love and mission of Christ. \n\n\n\nMark Your Calendars – You are invited to mark your calendars and plan to attend the evening gatherings! In this time of Epiphany\, we encourage you to receive the manifestation of Jesus Christ through those of different denominations\, races and cultures. Let’s make the most of these opportunities in order to truly be the family of God and serve as the body of Christ in the world. Let’s also pray with our feet – consider how our beliefs can come together in common action and witness. \n\n\n\nSpread the Word – We also appreciate help spreading the word to people in your congregation\, family\, friends\, and neighbors. A personal invitation goes a long way. \n\n\n\nUB Board Devotionals – This year for the Week of Prayer\, the UniteBoston Board and Staff will be sharing video devotional and prayers\, which will be shared on our social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram! \n\n\n\nCalling to mind our common commitment to ‘love thy neighbor\,’ may the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, January 18-25\, 2025 be full of moments of conversion of heart through our encounters\, so that “all may be one.” \n\n\n\n\n\nResources for Your Week of Prayer Experience\n\n\n\nLitany for Christian Unity \n\n\n\nChristian Unity Daily Prayer Guide – Created by the Greymoor Institute or The Initiative \n\n\n\nIntroduction on the Theme from Greymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Initiative \n\n\n\nAs you are able\, please also share this invitation with other churches and communities in your network so that more communities may gather to pray at this pivotal time in our country and city. \n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule for Gatherings in Boston & New England\n\n\n\n*All events are free and open to all.* \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThurs January 15  – Taizé Prayer with the Sisters of St. Joseph  \n\n\n\n7:00 to 7:45pm at Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph\, 637 Cambridge St\, Brighton\, MA 02135 \n\n\n\nTaizé prayer is a simple form of Christian prayer centered on scripture\, silence\, and song based on the daily prayer of the religious community in Taizé\, France. SUMMARY:The Angels That Christmas Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:The Christmas Story is retold by author Jacqueline Johnson in the book\, The Angels That Christmas. Join us for the book launch event at the Chatham Wayside Inn on Cape Cod and enjoy chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies with hot chocolate\, shared with friends and family. Cozy-up while listening to the story in different languages from Papa Bear\, Mama Bear\, and more: plus\, live Christmas music and dancing. \nSneak Peek – Back Cover: The Holy Son of God was on His way to Earth\, and angelic beings were given charge of the magnificent birth. Full of stars  and lights and heavenly song\, it was a spectacular gift from the heavenly throng. \nTo Bethlehem His parents traveled\, across the distant miles\, to a stable that was hidden far away from human eyes. Not a cave\, a lowly manger\, or a humble shed; the room was filled with angels\, clouds\, and lights instead. When all was still and the world was asleep\, the angels delivered the baby in a place transformed with peace. Then carols were sung and more lights displayed\, for that first Holy Christmas was here to stay. Merry Christmas!

SUMMARY:The 55th Season of Black Nativity
DESCRIPTION:Black Nativity welcomes ALL people\, far and wide\, into our circle of light. This is the Nativity story told through the lens of the African American experience\, but its message belongs to everyone who has ever needed hope\, ever sought home\, ever dreamed of a world where love wins. For 55 years\, we have been a gathering place where differences dissolve and humanity unites under the universal language of joy\, resilience\, and peace. \nBlack Nativity tells the story of the birth of the Christ Child from the point of view of Black Americans in the early twentieth century. Amid the hilly streets of Bethlehem\, a hotel with butlers and maids is set and filled with gospel music and gossipy chatter. In it the Holy Family find themselves surrounded by ordinary folk\nwho welcome their message and sing it with joy. Though based on New Testament gospels\, we offer the story as a testament to the joy of new births and to the hope that fills persons of “good will” from all traditions. Our message is one of transformation and spiritual uplift. \nInspired by Langston Hughes’ 1963 original production\, Boston’s Black Nativity retains the artistic direction of NCAAA Founder Elma Lewis; Director of Drama\, Vernon Blackman; Choreographer\, George Howard; and legendary Nigerian master percussionist\, Michael Babatunde Olatunji. The show’s music is set to the musical arrangements and adaptations of NCAAA Founding Music Director\, John Andrew Ross. \nOur 55th Anniversary Season features:\n75+ Voices Rising as One – Children and adults unite in glorious gospel harmonies that will move your spirit and stir your soul.\nThe Pulse of African Drums – Experience the dramatic pas de deux birth scene that happens live before your eyes\, propelled by the ancient rhythms that connect us all.\nA Living Legacy – Witness the continuation of artistic mastery passed down through generations\, from Elma Lewis to today’s visionary artists.\nFresh Energy\, Timeless Message – Gospel\, jazz\, and even hints of Hip-Hop breathe new life into this eternal story of hope.\n“Black Nativity is Boston’s Black community’s holiday card to the world” – a gift of transformation and spiritual uplift that has touched hundreds of thousands of lives across five and a half decades. \nDecember 5–21\, 2025\nThursdays: 7:30 pm\nFridays: 8:00 pm\nSaturdays: 2:30 & 7:30 pm\nSundays: 3:30 pm \n\nASL Interpreted Performances\nFriday\, December 5th — 8:00 PM\nSaturday\, December 13th — 2:30 PM\nSunday\, December 21st — 3:00 PM \n\nRobert J. SUMMARY:We Protect Each Other: Immigrants in MA with “TPS” Fight Back Against Losing Status
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that over 1.1 million people in the United States (including more than 27\,000 in MA) are at risk of living their existing legal immigration status? The Trump Administration is doing everything they can to end “Temporary Protected Status” (TPS) for immigrants from 17 countries in which the conditions are unsafe for their return. Many of them have been in our communities for more than 15 or 20 years\, owning property\, starting small businesses\, and raising citizen children. Without a pathway to Permanent Residency\, TPS-holders from countries like Haiti\, Venezuela\, Nepal\, Honduras\, El Salvador\, and Afghanistan will be forced into an impossible choice: depart the U.S. by a given end date within the next year\, or lose their work permits and legal status and be at risk of detention and deportation at any time. \nCome hear from immigrant leaders in the MA TPS Committee\, who will share with us about their fight\, their wins in the courts so far\, and what they need from the greater faith community in MA to work alongside them for these protections. While in the long run a pathway to Legal Permanent Residency is needed for TPS-Holders\, right now we need to fight with them to be able to simply stay in their homes and prevent separation from citizen children. \nWe’ll also share about their newly released documentary and an opportunity to host showings in your own congregation with MA TPS Committee speakers available for post-viewing conversations. \nHosted by: The MA TPS Committee\, Episcopal City Mission\, UU Mass Action\, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism\, UniteBoston\, and Merrimack Valley Project\, and Essex County Community Organization \nZoom registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/fmlROfiVSga2aM62R0b-bw

SUMMARY:Be the Movement: Welcome the Stranger
DESCRIPTION:Turn your compassion into action.\nWelcome a Haitian family in New England \nImmigrants built Boston. And now shelters are scheduled to close starting June 30th. When that happens\, Haitian families already vulnerable will be pushed onto the street and into crisis. \nWelcomeNST has identified\, interviewed and vetted families at immediate risk with the Immigrant Family Services Institute in Mattapan. UniteBoston is partnering with them to stand up\, lock arms with your neighbors and form Neighborhood Support Teams (NST) that will welcome these families into your communities. NSTs help vulnerable families secure housing\, navigate schools\, find work\, and become part of your community. \nOur goal is to mobilize 50 Neighborhood Support Teams in Greater Boston to come alongside 50 Immigrant Families.  \nRev. Kelly’s church (Neighborhood Church of Boston) launched a Neighborhood Support Team last year to support a refugee family from the DRC and it has been an incredible experience. \nAs tensions escalate\, this movement enables you to put the superpower of your community to work\, welcoming someone from the outside to the inside. Your community was made for such a time as this. \nJoin for a zoom call next Tuesday August 5 from 6-7pm ET.  Register here. \n\nResources \n\nPartner Toolkit\nRegistration link to the “Welcome the Stranger\, New England!” Zoom on July 9 from 6-7pm\nInterest Form\n“Be the Movement.
